| #6draco1119Jul 14, 2011 21:27:01 | It would cost the mint less money if it switch entirely to dollar coin (and maybe two dollar coins) since coins have a longuer life spend then low amount dollar bills (using them damages them). Actually, if you'd read the article posted within the last week or two about the hundreds of millions of dollar coins sitting in cold storage, it doesn't start saving money until several years down the line (if at all, since that point is in contention). In addition, since we Americans aren't such big fans of coins, it would drive plastic use up, thereby making for more coins in circulation than necessary, and around we go again. |
| #7lokiareJul 14, 2011 21:51:28 | Hmmm... I wonder if something like this could be used to screw the global banks over? |
| #8LFKJul 15, 2011 10:10:38 | One dollar bills ruin my day. Nothing sucks more than opening your wallet to see a bunch of bills, only to realize you don't even have enough to buy a Teen Burger Combo. In my mind that's the bill/coin threshold: can I hand the bill over to pay for a burger? |
| #9Cpt_MichaJul 15, 2011 10:14:29 | Heh, LFK that's partly why I never try to carry cash anymore. |
