| #1torynDec 02, 2009 23:31:21 | So, as the title suggests, I have finally decided to get into the Warhammer miniatures game. I originally bought the White Dwarf issue with the Vampire Counts a couple of years ago for some ideas for D&D and never really thought more about it. However, last night, my fiancee and I were out on our first date since moving to Arkansas in June, and we stumbled across a huge gaming store a lot closer to our house. I searched through the store, and finally found the Warhammer section. I bought the Vampire Counts army book and a box of skeleton warriors (I originally was just going to paint them to have a mob for D&D, but the guy at the store said they had a lot of players and even had some willing to teach the game). I know my next purchase will be the Warhammer rulebook, but I have a few questions for the community. Which units or heroes should I get? The magazine I have suggests getting Mannfred and Konrad, but I want to focus on raising skeletons as part of my strategy. I want a big bruiser/type champion to lead the army and I also want a couple of necromancers. I do not like the corpse cart (mostly the way it is sculpted lol), but I do like the Blood Knights and the Grave Guards. Will the units I pointed out make a good foundation? Also, one last question before I go. What is the lowest build total for an army? I like the idea of customizing units with abilities and equipment, and was just wondering what the increments were for this. |

As far as what is good for vamps I really am not sure, as I play Lizardmen. The Vamp Counts book though should have section on building/collecting that should be able to point you in the right direction for a good raise dead army. For learning the game go for about 500 pts army and build up from there. The folks at the game store will easily understand this as Warhammer gets expensive if you buy it in a hurry. |
