| #1dirtyfrankJan 11, 2010 21:18:02 | Just found the article a bit interesting. [linky] to article. I guess it's time to pack up our stuff and leave the gf's/wive's trophy jeans on the bed for her cuz well they ain't need us men no more. ;) |
| #2generalhenryJan 11, 2010 21:37:12 | They still need us to ogle their butts |
| #3pigknightJan 11, 2010 21:42:05 | Another inanimate object to compete with? *sigh* |
| #4EscherEnigmaJan 11, 2010 22:36:45 | Ha! Another reason romancing women is a waste of time. In the end, you've still got to compete with a ratty old pair of jeans. :D |
| #5pigknightJan 11, 2010 22:37:42 | Ha! Another reason romancing women is a waste of time. In the end, you've still got to compete with a ratty old pair of jeans. Escher might be on to something. |
| #6darkspartanJan 11, 2010 23:40:15 | It's because we want you to look at us the way you look at the supermodels in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. At least we're real and in it for more than the contents of your wallets, and we want you to see us that way. We're competing with every other woman on the planet for your attentions, and the momentary thrill of fitting into a pair of ratty jeans is nothing compared to a lifetime of love and attention. It's a huge accomplishment, especially if childbirth has done Bad Things to our figures. -Sarena |

| #8dirtyfrankJan 12, 2010 0:00:04 | It's because we want you to look at us the way you look at the supermodels in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. At least we're real and in it for more than the contents of your wallets, and we want you to see us that way. I've seen one Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. I really only liked two of the girls in there. Overall IMO overly thin girls aren't all hot and stuff anyways so somethin' like a swimsuit edition of a mag doesn't hold much interest for someone like me. I could however see how it would hold some interest for some of me fellow men though. Ya know, cuz they seem to have bad taste in women and such. We're competing with every other woman on the planet for your attentions, and the momentary thrill of fitting into a pair of ratty jeans is nothing compared to a lifetime of love and attention. bedroom eyes. competition won. nuff said. Rinse. Repeat. It's a huge accomplishment, especially if childbirth has done Bad Things to our figures. Bad things like the temp big stomach or the mom butt and why exactly would that be Bad Things? side note: OK one thing that is hard to find is pics of women with like nice curves and stuff. Like not fat but more like normal like with good curves and junk. Ya know like has a bit of weight on them but it's all proportioned right to really naturally show off their features and stuff. Like why is it so hard to find pics of those kind o' hot women. All someone like me is left with is pics with tooth pics that look so frail that ya might break them in two just by glancing at them. ![]() |
| #9darkspartanJan 12, 2010 0:13:20 | Bad Things would be the weight we gain above and beyond the weight fo the baby, our hips widening with the little one resting on them, or in pushing them forth, or separation of muscles that means that our tummies don't spring back the way they were before we got pregnant, and will not without surgery. Ten pounds of fat(average) isn't the easiest thing to lose for us. As far as toothpick girls, they offend me. Most of them don't eat, and those that do are so ectomomorphic that they can eat an elephant and not gain an ounce. So they're either congenitally skinny, which is perpetually aggravating, or they have serious mental problems and need to get over themselves. That most men(not all) would rather look at one of them than a woman with a more healthy weight is just adding insult to injury. -Sarena |
| #10dirtyfrankJan 12, 2010 0:27:38 | Oh, I like insults and injury. Those are some fun things. ![]() |
| #11darkspartanJan 12, 2010 0:28:41 | Both at once is even worse. -Sarena |
| #12dirtyfrankJan 12, 2010 0:37:55 | Women come in two forms. Kinda. There are the women ya wanna look at. then there are the women that ya wanaa be with. Sometimes they overlap but not really always and stuff. Problems can occur when a woman ya like to be with tries to be more of the kind a girl ya just want be look at from time to time and stuff. and well not really be that girl ya wanna be with and stuff. I guess what i'm saying is.. um... grow more confodence in yer self and stop trying to be other people or something. Or getting turned on by pants or something. You gals (most of you) look fine the way you are. Nothing to be concerned about. |
| #13darkspartanJan 12, 2010 2:22:17 | You know, Frank, you're going to make somebody very happy some day. I like your attitude, and so would any woman with a brain in her head. That said, in my experience, and the general cultural trend is that you're the exception, not the rule. Much as I'd love it if it were different, it's not. That goes triple for men with money. By the same token, a large number of women have unattainable standards, and most of those ruin otherwise good men for those of us that aren't wealthy waif-girls with delusions of grandeur. We all have body-image issues to some degree or another. We *want* to look good. If we look good, it raises our chance of catching a man with good genes. Just remember, we can only pass on our traits to the children we bear ourselves, whereas you can spread yourselves all over the planet if you have the means. If we find a man with the traits we want in our children, we're going to do everything in our power to catch him, and once caught, hang on as long as we can. If getting back into those Trophy Jeans will help that along, we're going to get rather a lot of satisfaction from accomplishing that task. If I told you that finally finishing the first draft of my very first novel was better than sex, what would you say? I can tell you I'll never, ever forget that rush. Also, that study wasn't horribly scientific. Did the researchers stop to ask if their partners were any good in bed? That could change the results dramatically. Despite what some might tell you, most men aren't... But we women aren't necessarily the best judges. Our experience and skill play into that as well. -Sarena |

| #15darkspartanJan 12, 2010 2:36:16 | Some guys are better than others... That I'll say. Oh, and I am in no way representative of that average. -Sarena |

You mean like bearing your children? Now that I think about it, I do have that miniskirt from High School... -Sarena |
| #20ViolenceJackJan 12, 2010 4:20:22 | Actually, despite what is promoted as the ideal woman shape, most guys I know have much healthier attitudes towards it. My first real girlfriend is tiny, but not a waif. She did wrestling up to the college level and has always shown her (not weightlifter) muscles, especially in the form of thicker-than-waif waist. Second was definitely on the heavy side, and that was fine too. Most guys don't care as much as they pretend. My wife currently has more weight on her than she used to, which isn't surprising considering the two kids and current breastfeeding. The extra weight is kinda sexy to me, considering the purpose. I think if you managed to get honest answers out of a lot of guys, you'd find similar attitudes. The scrawny waifs are pleasing enough to look at to most guys, but so are a great variety of other body types. The marketing people just aren't as smart as they think they are is all. That is, they think they know the market better than they really do. There probably is significant cultural pressure for guys to pretend they don't like certain body types... but those same guys, when it comes down to it, somehow don't seem to object when their girlfriend has that body type. |
| #21dirtyfrankJan 12, 2010 4:21:48 | Now that I think about it, I do have that miniskirt from High School... Still hangin' in your closet? Servin' the same purpose as them ol' jeans?
|
| #22Duke5150Jan 12, 2010 4:27:13 |
After my ex had our daughter, it didn't slow down the romance psychotic animal humping in the least. Then again, my ex was always petite, so she didn't really change much. More boobmeat and fuller cheeks. Thats about it. Her little tummy was a new, fun toy to play with and blow on to make fart noises. |
| #23dirtyfrankJan 12, 2010 4:29:35 | There probably is significant cultural pressure for guys to pretend they don't like certain body types... but those same guys, when it comes down to it, somehow don't seem to object when their girlfriend has that body type. For whatever reason this reminded me of something. A few friends of mine where telling me about this dude that is some local band or whatever. Anyways I guess the dude is like 'hot' or something to the gals but he's a total chubby chaser. It seems that one of the things he has back stage for the girls is donuts. And well they better be eatin' them if they wish to stay back stage for long an' all. But yeah I'll agree with ya. Many guys don't care much for them tooth pick girls however given the chance, for the lulz (and if the gal is being quite bitchy), well hurt a gal's feelings by sayin' she aint skinny enough or whatnot. They might think she's already the hottest thing ever but we guys know that if ya wanna hurt most girl's feelin's then just compare them to a model or whatnot. But yeah, for the most part guys seem not to be too picky. Unless they're total jerks. |
| #24Cpt_MichaJan 12, 2010 7:26:53 | Meh, throw me in the healthy weight girls club. I like my women to be a little muscular and athletic looking. I don't value skinny with no tone very much. I think that's partly because of all the effort I put into myself. *mostly for self defense, and work strength purposes... and gaming. yes gaming. And then Vanity. Vanity is always at the last in line here* I expect the woman to do the same. It also has something to do with the confidence of the girl too. Usually girls that are toned etc have confidence because they know they are sexy, which in of itself is at least a little sexy, assuming she's not a burger joint special anyway. I don't mind the girl to have a little weight on her bones either. But as a general rule, if you actually have curves etc. I'll probably find you at least bareable to look at if not pleasing to the eye. It's when you have enough weight on you, that your curves aren't curves anymore and have instead become more spherical in shape, or you look normal uptop, and then once you drop below chest level it looks like you ate a bunch of bowling balls that I run into trouble. It's healthy to have aesthetic standards. It's one of the the most basic traits of human evolution really in finding a desired mate. Mine is, I won't date a girl generally who's physical conditioning is questionable. As for sex and things better than it. I've had meals that were better than sex, I've driven cars which gave me more of a rush than sex. I've had good weight lifting sessions that left me feeling better than after sex. Usually it's crappy she just laid there like a dead fish sex that I'm comparing it to though. Not hawt, raw animal style furious sex, or lovey sex. |
| #25pbnJan 12, 2010 8:07:33 | Put me in the group that doesn't like feeling like she may snap in two. As for sex - just one word - Tantric. |
| #26pluisjenJan 12, 2010 8:26:42 | I've seen the kind of girls they put in those mags and most of them look downright revolting ![]() I'll prefer someone that looks like she's actually living life instead. Unfortunatly though, it does leave a mark on a lot of girls... my girlfriend does not consider herself 'pretty' nor 'sexy', even though she's quite beautiful. Also, if you know of things that are better then sex, you should try harder. ![]() |
| #27boraxeJan 12, 2010 8:43:57 | For the most part anyone who says "______ is better than sex" isn't doing sex right. I recall reading a poll that said 51% of women preferred chocolate to sex. Some people took from this that chocolate really is that good while in truth what it is really saying is that 51% of women have never had good sex. |
| #28KlirshonJan 12, 2010 8:54:22 | That or chocolate is more abundant then good sex. Then again some humans don't have their priorities straight. |
| #29Cpt_MichaJan 12, 2010 9:02:55 | For the most part anyone who says "______ is better than sex" isn't doing sex right. I'd be willing to go and agree with that. | #33KlirshonJan 12, 2010 9:31:11 | @Cpt_Micha: I thought macho, manly men don't dance? Does that mean macho, manly men don't do good sex? On a similar note: Apparently there is a product on the market to which its purpose is to "restore the pink to a woman's genitals". You humans have nothing better to do with your time then come up with more "new and amazing" cosmetic products? |
| #34Cpt_MichaJan 12, 2010 9:46:09 | I never said macho men don't dance. haha. I wonder who did though. I seem to recall Zb sayin that. ![]() They make a product for just about anything don't they? |
| #35zombie_babiesJan 12, 2010 9:49:40 | This article proves one thing and one thing only: More than a third of British men can't perform adequately. I mean, if putting clothes on is more of a turn on than what happens when they're off, you suck. Period. As for the girl category, since we're all playin' along, put me in the 'way too many types I like' category. I used to like the tiny girls, though. My first gf, for instance, made the act uncomfortable. Between her skinny butt and mine, the hip bone on hip bone action was downright painful. And I ain't into that kink. Anyhoo, as I grow older I find that I like a gal to have some meat on her bones. Some skinny gals can still get the motor revvin', but it's becoming less common. About the only thing that's stayed a constant is that I prefer brunettes over blonds and I have a thing for Asian gals. Other than that, it seems my preference is changing constantly. I like that. Variety is good. Unfortunately, variety for me is limited to suggestive, creepy leering. Silly 'no contact' rules ... ;) |
| #36pluisjenJan 12, 2010 9:58:35 | This article proves one thing and one thing only: More than a third of British men can't perform adequately. I mean, if putting clothes on is more of a turn on than what happens when they're off, you suck. Period. Or you don't suck properly. |

| #38scypioJan 12, 2010 13:56:12 | I think the article is pretty dumb, but on top of that, I think I hate the "blank is better than sex" statements. Its comparing something that you can pressumably have often for changing your weight. So losing 10 lb (changing your body) is better than one orgasm out of many. I wonder how many women would chose losing those same 10 lbs if they had to never have sex until they regain those pounds. And to be the bad guy, I have to say I like them skinny girls. I don't want to be able to see their skeleton, but no fat chicks! I'm not going to sit here and be all PC saying that I like heavier women. |

I wonder how many women would chose losing those same 10 lbs if they had to never have sex until they regain those pounds. I have to agree with this. But hey, that's what you get when you take a survey with a hyperbole ... It's an expression meant to express how awesome something is (by comparing it to, arguably, the most awesome thing out there). So it loses all real meaning when trying to be held up to any kind of scientific standard. It's just silly. And to be the bad guy, I have to say I like them skinny girls. | #42KillerGMJan 12, 2010 14:38:53 | Right. I couldn't care less what anyone who isn't my husband likes in their women. | #43scypioJan 12, 2010 14:40:30 | Yeah, I wasn't trying to insult other's preferences. "Not being PC" should equate to "having an unpopular opinion", at least regarding what I said. I think my opinion is one that many people (not saying people here) would try to hide since they don't want to seem shallow or something. But I can understand how people can like different preceptions of beauty. I'm not a huge fan of lots of different people considered "hot". I just wanted to make sure that the "No fat chicks" crowd is represented =P |

| #48dirtyfrankJan 12, 2010 15:19:30 | And to be the bad guy, I have to say I like them skinny girls. I don't want to be able to see their skeleton, but no fat chicks! I'm not going to sit here and be all PC saying that I like heavier women. Nothing PC about my statement. See women have better curves than a man. better and more appealing lines. And well I like women who's body weight really accentuate them lines. That accentuate their curves. Well yeah there are is a point when too mach fat start to break up them lines but to me some of the drop dead hottest women I've seen would be considered to be heavy my public standards. Why? Cuz they had all the right curves in all the right places and man did their extra little bit of girth really show it off. This is of course my opinion and me speaking my mind. It's not me trying to be all PC or nothing. |
| #49scypioJan 12, 2010 15:28:28 | How am I using the term wrong? I'm not being politically correct because I was stating an opinion which isn't supported by the perceived group. If I was being PC, I would've kept my mouth shut (or lied). Right? The whole point of being PC is not to get yourself in trouble right? So not PC should be possibly saying something that could get one in trouble. If not, then I'll just stop using the termology. |
| #50dirtyfrankJan 12, 2010 15:34:51 | PC means you're speaking not to offend and not speaking to speak your mind. Basically you're statement about not being PC was kinda implying that those guys that said they like gals with some meat on them bones are probably lying. Ya know, just saying stuff to not offend fat chicks rather than doing what they are likely doing which is talking about how they see women that got some girth as hot. If you didn't mean it as such then there was a bit of a missunderstanding but that's pretty much what the term means. |
| #51cherubaddonJan 12, 2010 15:35:40 | You know, I had a funny experience the other day: I am tall and skinny myself, and like my girls the same way (also has to do with me dancing tango, which is annoying when they are shorter and/or heavier than you) - tall, long legs, you know ;). Now, since that seems to be the beauty standard in hispanic countries, I figured Argentina (where I am right now) would be heaven (in some ways it is). So the other day I go to the disco with this guy, his sister and two female friends of hers, all about my age. Met some more friends along the way, and did what you generally do at the disco (minus the drugs, those are lethal here), and I realized all three girls were boring, shallow and bland, so I did what I normally do not do, namely spending the evening watching them dance. Two of the girls were tall, with finely chiseled faces and long legs, the third was shorter and chubby. Pretty clear case on paper. Except that as the evening went on, I realized at some point that to me, the by far most attractive girl was the chubby one. Now, I know your standards go down as blood alcohol goes up, but I don't think that was the case here; rather, it was the way she bore herself. She had this radiant attitude, projecting this feeling of "I don't give a damn what you think about me, you can like me or leave me alone" around her, and generally exuded self-confidence and security, but in a pleasantly non-obnoxious way. I had always thought the whole "inner values" thing was about thinking in terms of character rather than beauty, but it was the first time I realized how very inseparable those are. So ladies, when you are told to "show self-confidence", that's not only to feel good about yourselves. Trust me, it shows on the outside. Boy, does it show. |
| #52boraxeJan 12, 2010 15:39:22 | PC means you're speaking not to offend and not speaking to speak your mind. | #53zombie_babiesJan 12, 2010 15:43:23 | Self-confidence goes a long way for anyone. Whenever I have a gal, for example, gals tend to approach me. Cuz I have the confidence in the gal dating arena cuz I have a gal. I'll never forget something my brother told me (he's younger, but he was always better with da ladies) when I wondered aloud as to why I had trouble (at the time) meetin' a gal. He noticed that I walked with my head down - a stance adopted to make sure people didn't talk to me. Thing is, it became a bad habit. I actually tried to change that and met a gal soon after. One of the things she complimented me on? The way I walked. Yeah, that. Amazing how the little things do so much to show the big ones. |

| #66darkspartanJan 13, 2010 0:21:46 | Dark: It's called a cougar. They're all the rage now. ;) 0.o -Sarena |
| #67EscefJan 13, 2010 0:31:04 | Little piggies would be wise to avoid cougars. |
| #68darkspartanJan 13, 2010 0:52:55 | I'll admit to being curious as to what happened, but it's also not my business. And it's hard to proceed with any conversation after that. So... Awkward silence goes here? Drunk Driver. -Sarena |
| #69dragomJan 13, 2010 1:08:55 | Gotta say, i've developed depression, which can with an eating disorder, so now i'm 15, buying new jeans every 3 months and fitting in to jeans from when i was 7, not fun or rewarding, so this is strictly a circumstantial thing, but likely in the majority. Technically paying you any attention for your weight loss is against the rules and rewarding you for incorrect behavior. Kind of like showing any emotional response when an addict shows you his needle tracks. Regardless stop working so hard at feeling bad, give yourself permission to eat and enjoy a cheese burger. That noble cow with it's deep emotional brown eyes died for a good reason right? He didn't die for you not to eat him. He didn't die for you not to enjoy eating him. Don't dishonor him or his forefathers by eating him with anything less then a smile on your face. Nah... Too young. That would be like having a fling with my daughter's boyfriend. Nothing personal, gang, but had my girls survived, they'd be older than some of the posters here. What's wrong with a fling with your daughters ex-boyfriend? Next thing you'll be saying that sisters and best friends shouldn't trade boyfriends back and forth like a new jacket. I'm all for equality and all that, but I'm not quite ready to stop being treated like sex object and have people consider my feelings before they have sex with me. Their's PC and then their just being silly. |
| #70EscefJan 13, 2010 1:29:31 | I'll admit to being curious as to what happened, but it's also not my business. And it's hard to proceed with any conversation after that. So... Awkward silence goes here? I wasn't expecting to get a response on that. If I dredged any sorrows I apologize. |
| #71darkspartanJan 13, 2010 1:41:52 | What's wrong with a fling with your daughters ex-boyfriend? Next thing you'll be saying that sisters and best friends shouldn't trade boyfriends back and forth like a new jacket. Depends on the age of the ex-boyfriend. I would most likely take an instant dislike to anyone my daughter brought home in my dating range, no matter her age. They'd be just barely 18 today, and although legal, it would be a hundred miles of creepy in my mind. But then, I thought Demi Moore was just creepy taking up with Ashton Kutcher. Either that, or really, really desparate. No matter what, any man willing to have any sort of relationship of that nature with me while still with my daughter isn't a man I want in my life, her life, or either fluid tree. Ewww. As for the other two points, I have to wholeheartedly agree. I suspect we'll stop seeing less of the kind of carp that the OP found if we are being looked at for who and what we are than as toys to get a quick dose of endorphins from. We'd probably be a lot happier, too. Yes, PC has it's limits, and lots of people spend a lot of time being really silly about it. Oh, and for the record, best friend's boyfriends are fair game starting three days after the breakup, unless it was really nasty. I don't have sisters, so that's not a worry. Flirting with brother's bf can be fun, though ;) -Sarena |
| #72darkspartanJan 13, 2010 1:46:19 | I wasn't expecting to get a response on that. If I dredged any sorrows I apologize. It was a long time ago now, and although it never goes away, it does get easier. At least I had the time I got to spend with them. On the other hand, I have a nasty dislike for drunk drivers. Yes, I'm currently being nice in their direction. Getting off on that rant will get me warned at the very least. It cost me everything I had, including my Navy career. -Sarena |
| #73KlirshonJan 13, 2010 6:17:46 | Pigknight got the terminology backwards. I believe he was looking for the four-letter acronym that starts with an "M"... My condolences Sarena, I know what it feels like to lose a relative (though not one as close as immediate family) to criminal acts. This was touched upon during a thread about cars and I'm not sure I apologised properly if I came off as insensitive (I am a machine junkie, which I'm sure some would figure out). |
| #74scypioJan 13, 2010 8:01:48 | PC means you're speaking not to offend and not speaking to speak your mind. If I use this definition, then I don't see how I misused the term. If being PC is speaking not to offend and not speaking to speak your mind, wouldn't not being PC be speaking not caring if you offend and speaking your mind (even if you think it'll offend)? So didn't I use the term correctly? (Although my statements could be taken that I was saying the other posters were just trying to suck up which is probably why my comments were viewed negatively. But I supposed its better to take flack for my use of the term PC.) |
| #75zombie_babiesJan 13, 2010 8:40:22 | Cougars scare me. It all goes back to this one day at a bar and my friend making me sit next to this nasty chick's nasty mom. That was not any kind of fun. The best part? About a year later, the nasty chick tried to hook up with me, too. Guess since I thought I was too good for her mom, it made me just good enough for her. Man, sometimes I think it's better that I've destroyed so many memories I made during that time in the making. Most of the time, though, I wish I could have killed them all. ;) |

| #77zombie_babiesJan 13, 2010 8:52:25 | The memories or the people in the bar? Yes. |
| #78Cpt_MichaJan 13, 2010 9:00:15 | Good answer ZB. Cougars don't scare me though. Some of them can be pretty sexy really *I think that's why they are called Cougars.. otherwise you are just a creepy old woman. Unless I'm mistaken* |
| #79zombie_babiesJan 13, 2010 9:07:19 | I can assure you that this one was not in any way sexy. Why is it usually the fugly ones (looks, personality and intelligence) that try to sexually assault me? I mean, it's happened three times. Only once or twice has it ever been a girl I was interested in. It's not fair, man. Not fair. |
| #80Cpt_MichaJan 13, 2010 9:09:08 | Probably the same reason that it's almost always that way with me. They are already desperate. Add in alcohol, or being attractive in their eyes (or both) and you are bound to get a dose of Trauma Inflicting molestation. It really isn't fair. |
| #81zombie_babiesJan 13, 2010 9:14:35 | But I'm not a really attractive dood! I'm average at best! And I'm a Class-A a-hole! Nobody should wanna touch me - at least not in a nice way. Oh well, guess bein' mean 'pays'. If that's whatcha wanna call it. |
| #82scypioJan 13, 2010 10:11:41 | I agree with the "cougar" sentiment. Like I'm sure there's some pretty attractive older women, but overall, that's just not my thing. I remember when I used to frequent casinos, there were a few instances where older women would hit on me. I'm not a fan of that. They were also pretty sleezy seeming. Although it doesn't beat my friend who was propositioned by a prostitute while sitting on the steps of a church in Atlantic City (he was waiting for a ride). |
| #83Cpt_MichaJan 13, 2010 10:16:18 | Your friend gets a ![]() Though it was Atlantic City. The church is probably a regular pick up spot if you know what I mean. Most would be Cougars, aren't. *Unfortunately* There is a certain level of attractiveness and youthful vitality you have to still have in order to go after the younger generation. Unfortunately most of the older women that aren't attatched to anyone that seem to chase the younger generation than themselves that I have known, don't have those traits. I'm sure there are alot of attractive older women, but most of them are probably married. |
| #84zombie_babiesJan 13, 2010 10:21:40 | I was propositioned by a prostitute once - but she was gonna hook me up with a freebie. ;) We were at an after hours bar in a place where those are against certain 'rules'. She had just borrowed a friend's lighter to go off and cook some fun up for herself. My friend jokingly asked if she needed a spoon, too. Luckily, she was already so baked she didn't hear or care. Anyhoo, after she came back from her experiment, she happened to notice me. She immediately rushed over to me and embraced me, whispering in my ear. She says 'Hey, you're ____, aren't you!'. Well, that happened to be my name, yes. 'You drive a green truck, don't you!' Yes, yes I did. 'Lemme know if you need anything.' I did not. My friend, otoh, did. And that made for an uncomfortable limo ride. Well, not so much the ride, but when he kicked us out of the limo. Yeah. She was funny in a pathetic sort of way. Had a bag of groceries she took everywhere with her - see, they were for her mom. And we had to kick her out of the limo cuz she lost a party favor and refused to leave until she found it. In a way, that was her undoing. Cuz as soon as she told us what she was lookin' for, my friend told her it was outside the limo. Which she believed. And with a gentle push on the tush to guide her, she was out of my life forever. Even without the case of mistaken identity, what an evening. I shan't forget it. |
| #85dirtyfrankJan 13, 2010 12:33:43 | (Although my statements could be taken that I was saying the other posters were just trying to suck up which is probably why my comments were viewed negatively. But I supposed its better to take flack for my use of the term PC.) If you take out your use of PC then the post would read as just you speaking your mind. However the term PC being used in the post comes off, as what you suggest above, negatively cuz it reads a bit like you're calling everyone else with a differencing view point out. As if we've lied. Gah, it's not even a curse word and it can really upset people. geesh. |
| #86darkspartanJan 13, 2010 12:45:48 | Gah, it's not even a curse word and it can really upset people. geesh. I'm fully in favor of that status being modified. -Sarena |
| #87zombie_babiesJan 13, 2010 12:47:54 | Don't do that. I like curse words. ![]() |
| #88Cpt_MichaJan 13, 2010 12:50:53 | yeah making PC a curse word is cruel to our man language! |
| #89EscherEnigmaJan 13, 2010 12:53:51 | PC means you're speaking not to offend and not speaking to speak your mind. May I point you at this? "Not being PC" should equate to "having an unpopular opinion" Which is where I said you're using the term wrong. |
| #90scypioJan 13, 2010 12:58:44 | We should probably reduce the amount of words which are considered "curse words", not increase them. EscherEnigma: "unpopular opinion" meaning unpopular to my audience... or.... offending them. |
| #91zombie_babiesJan 13, 2010 13:00:51 | You know what? With all this nonsense about PC or whatever distracting from my li'l story, I've decided to never tell you idiots another hooker story. Ever. Nevermind that's the only one I've got, you're still being punished. |
| #92darkspartanJan 13, 2010 13:04:00 | Meh. I'm sure you've all got those. ;) -Sarena |
| #93zombie_babiesJan 13, 2010 13:06:03 | Meh. I'm sure you've all got those. ;) Not like mine, though! ![]() |
| #94Cpt_MichaJan 13, 2010 13:10:44 | I agree Zb. Hooker stories are always entertaining though. Closest I have is a couple of webcam girl stories. One of which I found out she was a webcam girl -after- we messed around. Fortunately the cam was infact off. |
| #95EscherEnigmaJan 13, 2010 13:16:13 | EscherEnigma: (1) Your claim that it's an unpopular opinion is more of an insult then the opinion itself, not to mention presumptious and so-on. (2) Something can be plenty unpopular without being offensive. In short, there's nothing non-PC with saying "I like skinny chicks." It's a preference, and it's quite easy to say without being insulting to anyone. |
| #96zombie_babiesJan 13, 2010 13:18:10 | I agree Zb. The whole people watchin' thing never really bothered me. I'm kinda shy, believe it or not, but for whatever reason that was never a big deal. Happened on a few occasions accidentally and I found it funny more than anything else. Didn't miss a beat, either. And when it was expected that that would be a part of things, it was all good, too. But I'd be all sorts of embarrassed if it was on the intertoobs. Weird. |
| #97Cpt_MichaJan 13, 2010 13:26:41 | Yeah, that was my primary concern at the time. Though it was mostly her's. hehe. That was when I learned that apparently internet stripping and internet porn flicks are apparently two very different lines to the people performing. I'm no prude by any means. But, something about having potentially thousands of people watching you **** like rabbits is kind of a little embarassing to me. |
| #98zombie_babiesJan 13, 2010 13:28:51 | Yeah. One friend walkin' in on ya? Fine. A couple people there cuz they are? No problem. An innocent mailman getting an early morning treat? Excellent. An anonymous horde? Not cool. Everyone's got some kind of line. ![]() |
| #99EscherEnigmaJan 13, 2010 13:36:13 | Hm.... I suppose it's a matter of control. If you're being exhibitionist, then you're in control. Even if it's just someone accidentally walking in on you, you're in control, you can stop, you can yell at them to get out, whatever. When it gets online and anonymous, you lose that control. You can't stop people from watching either by kicking them out or leaving yourself. It's just beyond your grasp. |
| #100zombie_babiesJan 13, 2010 13:37:28 | And it's forever, too. I think you nailed it, EE. Control. |
| #101Cpt_MichaJan 13, 2010 13:39:32 | Escher is filled with much wisdom this day. I think it is about Control. Cause you don't even know if someone's got a recorder on the other end either. For all you know, that one event can be forever watched again and again. Or worse distributed without you ever knowing it. |
| #102scypioJan 13, 2010 13:47:34 | I think I'm more easily embarassed than you manly men. I think there were a few times that my wife and I had to hurrily...look presentable. Luckily, the dogs bark when anyone approaches our house.(1) Your claim that it's an unpopular opinion is more of an insult then the opinion itself, not to mention presumptious and so-on. I'm honestly not understanding. I can see it being insulting if you thought that I was implying that people were being phony in their claims of liking heavier women. But I do not understand point #1. I agree with #2, but most people are easily offended when it comes to their looks. I really don't know what the big deal is. Is "PC" really such a hot button word? I wish I just said "I hope I don't get attacked for this, but..." |
| #103EscherEnigmaJan 13, 2010 13:57:57 | I'm honestly not understanding. Yes, that is the problem. Let me see if I can break it down for you. Whether something is "PC" or not, is only tangentally related to how popular something is. It's more about how you say it, and what language you use. You can phrase something, even an unpopular opinion, in a way that doesn't cause offense. So, quite simply, if you're using "not PC" as "anything unpopular" then you're using it wrong. Hence my simple and direct statement, "Then you're using the term wrong" back in post #45 [link]. |
| #104Cpt_MichaJan 13, 2010 13:59:17 | in the case of political correctness I think that evil word and concept has gotten so far out of hand. *with everyone to blame.* That frankly it in it's own way to everyone but the people that DO practice being PC it's offensive. It's a by word for Lying to a great many at this point I think. |
| #105eratoJan 13, 2010 15:36:41 | But then, I thought Demi Moore was just creepy taking up with Ashton Kutcher. Either that, or really, really desparate. I'm curious, does this go the other way too (say, Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglass), or is it another one of your ideas about sex differences? |
| #106eratoJan 13, 2010 15:45:52 | If being PC is speaking not to offend and not speaking to speak your mind, wouldn't not being PC be speaking not caring if you offend and speaking your mind (even if you think it'll offend)? PC is a meaningless term anyway, and it's use is littered with double standards (which is why using it almost always changes things for the worse). If you walked into a gathering of fundamentalist Christians (or any other Abrahamic religion for that matter), and started talking about how men should be allowed to express their feminine sides, and how it should be accepted for women to speak up (and mean it), you'd definitely have an unpopular opinion, and be offending people by speaking your mind. The same if you walked in on a KKK meeting and started talking about the plight of blacks in America. And yet, I highly doubt anyone would call you politically incorrect for saying it. In fact, I'm quite sure the very people you're offending would start to use the PC-slur against you. If PCness was really related to how unpopular an opinion was, it should be possible for me to speak in favour of feminism to a group of sexists, without being attacked for being a PC loony. It isn't. If PCness was really about not offending people, I should be able to confront of a group of white guys complaining over how oppressed their race is, by telling them shut their whiny, privileged ****, and not be called PC for my troubles. I can't. If all this was really about the majority (PC) vs. the minority (anti-PC), California's majority decision to ban gay marriage should be considered PC, and the movement for acceptance and inclusion of homosexuality should be the politically incorrect fraction. But that's not how it seems to be portrayed. PC is not defined by how little, or how much, you offend, and neither is it defined by the popularity of your opinion. Accusations of PCness are typically just means to shut someone up by pretending they're oppressing you with their PC opinion, or insult people to their face and then hide from repercussions behind claims of political incorrectness. If your standpoint can only be justified by accusing others of being PC or defining yourself as anti-PC, it's not a standpoint worth respecting. And if can be justified without it, there's absolutely no need to use such a meaningless term in the first place. |
| #107pbnJan 13, 2010 15:57:49 | But then, I thought Demi Moore was just creepy taking up with Ashton Kutcher. Either that, or really, really desparate. | #108EscefJan 13, 2010 16:43:54 | I could've swore I smelled PC ... That's your power supply, man. The new graphics card is too much for it. Better replace it soon. |

| #111ViolenceJackJan 13, 2010 18:57:09 | I was walked in on twice with the same girlfriend. Different male friend of mine each time. Once I heard them coming and was dressed; the GF hid under the covers. Second time... not so lucky. Friend just grinned and said, "I'll be downstairs," then closed the door. Now that she's my ex, those two are living together. Said ex is one of my wife's best friends, and my daughter's favourite friend of ours. Funny the way things work out sometimes. |
| #112dirtyfrankJan 13, 2010 19:02:09 | That would have been two perfect times to just put both thumbs up and grow a huge smile. Your friend probably would have laughed his ass off. |
