#1 EscherEnigma May 20, 2009 13:48:24	So back when I first started playing I always brought food of some sort. Whether it was bringing a bag of chips, bring a case or two of Mountain Dew, or bringing a more substantial 'real' food, I always brought something. In college this shifted more towards just making dinner for the group or bringing snacks, depending on who's turn it was. If I was cooking I would either bring something that just needed to be popped in the oven (a casserole or something that I did the prep work at home) or bring everything I needed with me, and bring it all back. Now-a-days I'm doing all my gaming online (either through PBP or using VoIP tech) so bringing food for the group doesn't work too well, but hopefully when we (that is, my SO and I) get back to regular in-person gaming sessions we'll resume my tradition of bringing food or snacks. What food related gaming traditions do other people have?
#2 cherubaddon May 20, 2009 13:56:46	Well, unfortunately, I am in a much similar position, as all my games at the moment are PbP. However, I do have the habit of eating while playing video games - usually dry bread, something I can pick up from the kitchen and be back before the level has loaded. Oh, and when I'm all alone at home (so I don't inconvenience anyone) I also tend to drink while gaming. What depends on the game - Campari for Vice City, Whiskey for Max Payne, beer for everything else ;) .

They are not always consistent so I'll bring something to snack on such as a granola bar or two just in case they don't bring anything. This is kind of how it's been for a while now with my gaming group.

#6 MechaPilot May 20, 2009 15:54:22	Pizza was always a favorite with my groups, and easily affordable when everyone chips in. If we didn't have pizza, we would stick with other snack foods like chips, pretzels, and the ever annoying yet tasty cheesy popcorn (I hate those bits of kernals that get stuck in the back of the throat.) Drink of choice was usually Mt Dew, but we all brought out own beverages (when it comes to pop, I drink like a fish; so it's only right that I bring my own).

I would get super territorial and not let anyone else have any of my snacks, growling at anyone who ventured a hand near them. We generally had a "bring your own food" policy, but we rolled dice to see who would buy pizza that session, and the person who bought last time was exempt from the roll. Most of my friends would either have a cup of coffee or a few energy drinks, because when we played, we reached far into the night and early morning.

If I have been baking, then I offer up that as well - I don't want a whole batch of brownies sitting around my house (because I'll be 300lbs), but I love to bake, so they end up eating my goodies. One unique thing about this current group is that they will bring alcohol - I've never had a group bring alcohol before. They don't get sloshed or anything, it's just something new to me from this group.
#10 archyneir May 20, 2009 19:03:57	Order-in pizza is a weekly ritual, everybody brings at least five bucks to the game, and everybody gets as many slices as our tummies can hold. We generally order four or five large pizza's for a seven person group, keeping leftovers for munchies later on. (cold pizza tastes awsome, fyi!) Along with that we generally each bring some snacks with us, I prefer gummies worms or something healthy like a few green apples. Along with that, it depends where we're gaming. If it's my place, alcohol and home-made brownies are a stable on most occasions. If we go over to someone Else's house, it all depends. Mountain dew, Seven Up, various other pops and of course different kinds of fruit juices, is also pretty common.

Now we just go out to Chick-fil-a mostly.. sometimes Wawa(it's like 7-11 or Sheetz(cleaner than 7-11 but still cramped))

Even back when I was thirteen and we'd play fifteen-hour all-night marathons. The only thing I'd ever have was maybe a bottle of water. At the game I just got into at the local store, the owner provides snacks and sodas for pocket change. And I still only got a bottle of water, lol.

Usually fast food of some sort. Since I eat breakfast on Sundays (but no other day), I just grab a bottle of Arizona Green Tea (why are all green tea's sweetened and have something added to them? It sux.) and a small bag of Cheetos or a candy bar or somethin'. Just a snack. I may have some of my buddy's cashews or somethin', too. Every once in a while one guy will bake some cupcakes or cookies an' bring 'em. That's cool. Mostly we just assume that we're all adults and we're all capable of feeding ourselves. Besides, we're there to game, not eat. I don't take D&D with me when I go to a nice steak joint, why would I worry about good food when I'm playin'? Two different things, IMO.

Long story short, I'm prepping arc, setting up books, stats, bla bla bla. "Hey, get the Hell out for, like 10 minutes, ok?" (unwanted PC presence might compromise planning and provide clues to others). Alone, working, DM Spots -> "Oh, brownies!" begins eating 2 or 3 in ernest while rest are in the kitchen unaware (this is important). Keith returns, "All set? Good, I, uh-damn..." counts missing* "Oh, boy...there's something you should know." Approx 1.5 hrs later, "So, um, you know, well, uh, roll initiativvveeee?" I thought those days were well and gone...

One of them always brings bags of peas-in-a-pod and a large dutch loaf of bread. My wife finds him interesting, I find it kinda weird.
