#16 jetshield Aug 09, 2011 22:23:47	Tines, not prongs. ;) I eat mostly with 4 tine forks, but my desert forks have 3 tines and my relish forks have only 2 tines. If I had to choose just one, I'd go with the 4 tine dinner fork, hands down. No other fork allows faster shoveling of food to face.

#23 ADHadh Aug 10, 2011 10:23:31	Ok, right now I'm using a four tined fork. I don't think I have ever encoutered a three tined one, unless it was a small for for cake or fruit salads. But really, it just needs to be sharp enough and not too wide, so it won't be unhandy and not too narrow, so I can eat rice with it even if it's not very sticky.

#28 dirtyfrank Aug 10, 2011 11:46:50	When eating oriental food such as Chinese or Japanese food I do what that culture would do to eat the food. I use a fork! I don't eat my Chinese food like a traditionalist. Nope, I eat it like a 20 year old fork using punk. OK I use both. Like when I have panda express. I start out using chopsticks. About halfway through, once all the big pieces are eaten, I switch to the more efficient fork. 4 tines since it's not dessert.

Buy some?  Then when you make dishes of that type, you can add that one more little bit to the experience of it all.  We got 'em at home.  I generally don't bother. While I can use chopsticks, I find the fork quicker. This tells me that you can't use chopsticks.
#30 ADHadh Aug 10, 2011 12:38:18	I prefer to just order a dish and not bother. Chinese food ingredients aren't easy to come by I think and even if they are, I'm a terrible cook. I can make a less complicated dish like a chicken stew. Or boil some potatoes and fry a piece of meat, but that's pretty much it. Damn, I've just eaten and now I'm hungry again. Thanks a lot. Chopsticks are very quick if you know how to use them. Actually, I think I eat quicker with chopsticks than with a fork. Of course, nothing beats plain old fingers.

Only the dessert ones have 3 prongs and they always bend (but that's because of size, not number of prongs) As for shoveling rice in mass quantity... I use a spoon for that. But usually a fork since I don't want to shovel it, I like to taste what I'm eating
