A guy named Raving_Dork has 5 digits, but his account was in someway glitched so it shows 6k.
Its really around 11k

Ya know pigknight i seriously would have thought that you would have caught up to me by now with my absence from the forums. Since you didn't the forums must be that dead. Or at least the OTT.

ZB is over me, or he was at one time.

and I think I'm right behind him on post count.

I can't believe I was forgotten.  Guess I really do post a whole lot of nothing.  That's actually kinda good.  And impressive.  Over 14k posts of crap too boring to be remembered.  That's ... something.

Is the highest post count, by itself, necessarily a good thing?

...Actually, I think it mostly just says who's been an active member longest.

Sure.  It means someone can say "it's over 9000!"

...Actually, I think it mostly just says who's been an active member longest.

That would just be going by join date, in which case I'd have y'all1 beat.
________
1That's posted so far, at least.  Pig and DirtyFrank are closest with Sept '07, but that still gives me a good three year lead with myi June '04 join date.

dude, i've been a member since '05 and some of these '08-09 have 5-7 times my post count. active time does not equal post count.

... hypothetically speaking, was the poster formerly known as "hater" actually HATER, or THE_HATER?  'cause if it's the latter, I can't find the account to examine the date, banned or otherwise, but if it's the former the account doesn't appear to actually be banned...

It was THE_HATED.

I must have thought it was banned and changed names again...
Besides, those names were giving me a bad rep...

Eh.  A whole mess of threads became unlocked when the forums changed over last August, I wouldn't be surprised if they accidentally let a bunch of accounts also unlock.  And I thought HATER predated HATED?  Then at some point was THE_TROLL and I think there may have been a baby blowing up a dinosaur at some point...

And yeah, HATER was before HATED...

Has the futility of this thread hit anyone in full force yet? It's a thread to index the information that appears most frequently of all information in the forum, the number of times the most frequent posters post, which gets automatically posted everytime they post.

When I said "active member", I didn't just mean how long the account has been active.
But I agree.

Oh yeah!!! I've been actively posting since mid 08 and some of these people that have been members for 3 to 5 times longer than i've been actively spamming the forums have 5 to 7 times less posts than i do!

Yeah, I never understood the prestige of having a high post count. There's nothing wrong with it, but I don't understand the importance of it.

Oh dear, you joined a year after me, but have ten times the amount of posts! I feel even more invisible than I actually am around here. Maybe it's because I mostly visit the ever-so-silent Character Optimization board?

Personal preference, really.  Just depends on what you're feeling like at the moment, ya?  Sometimes yer just in the mood to be a top, sometimes you'd rather not.

I'm pretty sure I got 10% of my posts from actual D&D crap.

10% from GMing the Edition Wars.

50% from the bad RP in the various Edition Wars.

30% from misc. OTT posts.

yep probably. Back when i was posting purely in the monster, dm and player advice boards i had few posts. Only usually a few a day. Once i started in the OTT....well it was still low. Astrid's did help to increase my posting rate. The big boom came after the ban on political and religious discussion right during the end of the obama/mccain election thingy. After that there were tons of fun spammy screw around threads. In some of them you could easily wrack up upwards to 50 posts a day. Even could do this in  few threads each day. Of course most responses where short one liners and whatnot.

90% of mine probably come from misc. OTT threads. Probably 9% from Astrid's. The rest in other places.

I'm reasonably certain that at least 40% of my posts contain at least 40% actual D&D content, which is probably why I'm not on the list.
I'd probably have a much higher post count, but, A. endless debate and arguing makes my eyes glaze over, B. anything inane, lame, political or current-events-related tends to make me skip over the thread, and C. I'm a self-editing smartass - I tend to only post when I have something either actually relevant or at least vaguely entertaining to say.
Damn, I'd make a terrible internet forum poster, lol.
I really need to post more inane drivel.
