Last year, there was a little (big) thread. A Play-by-post Role-playing thread with no rules, except for the fact of no DM. I plan on re-introducing this thread. Now, if anyone would want to join, just post here, and we'll get started!:D

Well, the rules are really quite simple. There is no system in place, it is simply pure RP, sort of like a play, but all improv. You get control of one player only though, and anyone can get us started!

A figure in a hooded robe stood on a bluff outside (insert city name here). Beneath the hood, the creature's features were oddly androgynous and expressionless. The figure concentrated for a moment, and it suddenly appeared to be a human male with short, black hair and a goatee. With a faint smile, Kethin of the Thousand Faces started towards the city, telepathically scanning the surrounding area for threats.

[Dramatic Voice]A wander wearing a hooded cloak stepped into the light of a bar. "Hmm. Master, what do you make of this mysterious warp we have made?" He asked, even though he was alone.
"Meh. I've had worse. Now, my side kick, go burn some idiots!"
"Yes, sir!"

...What? Is it a crime to re-use some characters that got wasted because someone decided to quit running the last Edition War and no one could decide what to do? No, it is not. Also, the crzy duo is 3.5 stated. Even in a 4.0 world. Yes, they are that annoying.

Landrus of the Order of the Blazing Sun, holy paladins deticated to Pelor, stood warily by the gatehouse of the city. He was supposed to be off duty, but he had insisted on taking the night shift this cold knight so that the other, less experienced knights could rest. He was in command of the small unit of guards also on the night guard. He thought he saw a figure approaching, so he pointed his bulls-eye lantern toward where he thought he saw the figure approaching from. Yep, there was definntly a figure approaching. He asked, "Who goes there?"

Smirking beneath his hood, Kethin bent his psionic might to manipulate the paladin and said "A wanderer. Now, let me pass without further questions."

(If it's italicized and colored, it's what he's using his power to try to make someone do.)

"Well, I have to escape pursuit by a guard already? This may be amusing." the doppelganger thought as 'he' turned into a side alley. Throwing back his cloak, 'he' changed his features to resemble those of an old beggar, and made it so anyone who saw him would see rags instead of fine silk garments and a crutch instead of a crystal studded staff. He then concealed the cloak and waited.

As the elf finished his glass of mead, the bar tender eyed him suspiciously. He got the idea that the bar tender was about to cut him off as he had now been in the tavern for quite some time and paid curiously little for his drinks. When the bartender's eyes were averted, the elf whispered an few arcane words and his glass refilled itself.

Kerris wasn't sure why, but he got the feeling something very important was about to happen in this quiet village.

Sorry this might be a psionic thing, but dopplegangers can't change the appearance of their clothing, can they? The Monster Manual makes specific note of how they carry several changes of clothing with them so they can change their personas as needed.

As flames explode around the bar, Kerris rolls under his table. This was not a particularly difficult task as his chair had been yanked from under him moments ago by an inconsiderate pile of animated debris and he had since been sitting on the floor in indignant silence.

From under the table, Kerris muttered a few arcane words and drew a glyph in the air with his fingertips. The light around him coalesced as a barely visible bubble. As the globe took form it vanished back into the air. Kerris pulled his cloak over his head and ducked from table to table as he made his way out of the burning tavern. Any flames that drew too close were bent around him as he fled from the tavern unscathed.

'What a shame, and the conversation was just getting interesting. Oh well, at least now I know where they're headed next.' He thought. He grabbed a burnt patron from the doorway of the tavern and dragged him along toward the temple of Pelor. 'That's odd, the sun doesn't seem to be following its normal track through the sky. This day just keeps getting better and better.' Once he was out of harms way, Kerris allowed his Globe of Invulnerability to drop.

As Kerris dragged the burnt man toward the temple of Pelor other buildings began to catch fire. A peasant ran from one of them, attempting to tear off his burning linen shirt.

I suppose I'd better make this convincing, Kerris thought and tackled the young man. He rolled around on the ground with him until the flames were extinguished, despite the pain. Then he stood and dusted himself off, smiling at the burn marks on his clothing now I appear to be a victim like any other, and someone can vouch for my good will.

When he arrived at the temple Kerris stumbled and nearly collapsed at the door. He handed the burned man he had been dragging to the nearest guard. "Please, my friend and I have been injured at the tavern! I'm sure you've noticed the fires. We need the services of your clerics immediately! Let us through."

"I really don't like it when fireballs interrupt my not drinking. Either you two can go with the nice paladin here, or my personservant here can rearrange you. He's very good at that." H-K-46 grunted assent.

"Admonition: Master, you remember what happened last time 46 redecorated some meatbags." 47 stood in the lack-of-door-way, arms crossed.

"Fancy-pants "assassin warforged". I dunno why Master gave him that obviously affected accent," 46 snort-mumbled.

"Dammit, you two! You are NOT helping!"

Miles away, a skeletal figure leaned back in a bone throne. It was dressed in rich robes, and a fell red light glowed from otherwise empty eye-sockets. Looking over a few units of skeleton infantry, the lich necromancer sent them on their missions: one unit went to rendezvous with the doppelganger it had sent to locate and steal the ancient book Libris Mortis, an artifact filled with incredible necromantic power and unimaginable secrets; while three more were sent to attack the city and further overextend the forces of the Sun God. Unfortunately, they would take some time to get there.

*ding* A subconscious alarm went off in the cloaked figure's mind. You have... 1 ... unread sending. "Hunter-Killer 33's report, Master: Skeletons. And a lot of them. They're headed here, sir. It might take a few days. We can spare 37, so I'm having him tail them." What the Hells? "You two pyros: play nice. I'll leave you to Mr. Paladin, here, and I think I left my sink on." He released them and 46 and 47 bound them while he ran off in the direction of the temple. The hood dropped and an illusion wavered, revealing a nine-years-old lad. "Dammit! Of course he's working for a necro! Nobody else needs the Libris Mortis!"

"Please, my friend and I have been injured at the tavern! I'm sure you've noticed the fires. We need the services of your clerics immediately! Let us through."

"I'm sorry, all clerics of Pelor are busy at this time. Your well being is important too us. Please stay on the steps and the first avaliable cleric of the sun god will assist you in the order of your arrival."

As Kethin neared the gate, he sent a surge of power at a guard, causing him to attack a bystander. With a few more uses of that discipline, it'd started a full-blown brawl. In the chaos, the doppelganger slipped out of the town. It had a caravan to infiltrate.

(Betrayal is such a cool power.)

"I don't suppose you have a cot I could purchase, for my friend here, on the inside? I have plenty of coin, and I'll be sure to heavily tip whichever guard leads me in most promptly."

Strike one, buddy, I don't have time for this.

Ok HK-46 was a tolerable joke but really? If this keeps up I'm going to start playing my drow ranger Drizz'l Mo'Nizzle and his dwarf friend Bruno and we're going cut down your droids with my dual scimitars Kinda Chilly and Shiny

"What?! A Paladin?! Here?! Can we not escape these fools?" yelled the shade, looking at guardsman. "We aren't evil, you know."

"Yeah! We're EVIL!" The more corporeal of the two mages exclaimed, a smirk on his face.

"Don't say that! Paladins can't understand the EVIL is fun. He'll probably start ranting about 'in the name of Pelor, I smite thee' or something..." The shade shot back, facepalming.

"Er... G'bye! G'Elsewhere Chant." The elf said, poofing away from where he was being held.

Only to reappear next to the guard.

"Oops..."

A short, slim halfling in shining gold armor stumbes into view, knocking his helm over his face. He runs towards the elf, and pulls his helm back up. He exclaimes in a squeaky voice, "Y-y-you are hu-hu-hereby sm-smi-smitten by err.. umm.. P-p-Peter the Paladin!" He grabs hold of his sheathed sword hilt, and tugs on it. He reaches again , this time with both hands and yanks. He looks up apologetically, "I-I-I I'm n-n-new ah- at this!" He yanks once again, finally dislodging the blade, which is about 2 1'2 feet long. "F-f-fear not h-h-humble guards." He lunges at the elf in a display of noviceness, tripping and falling facefirst into the elfs boots. He pulls his helm back up, and asks, "G-g-give up y-y-yet?!"

Ven reached the chaos and blinked. His arcana senses tingled. "Psionics... And Mystery Man came this way..."
A blue dragonspawn, about the size of a lizard, crackled into existence. "Ven, we're dealing with something strange here," it hissed.
"I know that much, Kashkielghik. Once again, you state the obvious. But the question is, why?"
"I believe it's an aspect of my personality--and, because I am your familiar, yours."
"Dammit. I meant it's all kind of weird. The sun's been acting up, a psion comes looking for the Libris Mortis, and a couple of mages blow up my third favorite place to not drink, 33 reports a horde of undead, 46 and 47 suddenly start acting incompetent--all in the space of thirty minutes. That's about the weirdness quota for three days."
You're a sorceror, Ven."
"Then you see how weird it is," he said grimly.
