Different races/ethnicities of women have their own strong points(is that the right word?). I think most guys like Asian girls, because there aren't as many and therefore have a novelty about them that other girls don't.

How about this explanation.

French girls look like the girl next door. Sure she is hot but I see her all the time so after a while she be less interesting to look at.

Asian girls are exotic. need I say more.

I tend to agree, actually. I'm just being silly/stupid.

In another forum we had a fun time showing girls of various ethnicities. Should we try that here? Or is it crossing some kind of line I'm unaware of?

French girls don't look like the "girl next door" to me at all. They're every bit as exotic as Asian girls, imho. I prefer the features of French women to that of Asian women, personally, though admittedly, some Asian girls are hot, too.

Everyone has different tastes. :P

As long as people stop posting cheesecake from random paysite tours, than I'm pretty sure we can attempt to have a discussion on the merits of said subjects.

After spending a year in Korea, where asian women are obviously in abundance and the few caucasian women there were in the military(and either married, ugly, or crazy), I realized that upon landing back in the states that caucasian women had become quite exotic. Nowadays, I'd like to think I can make a judgement on a woman's beauty w/o it being skewed by novelty.

I've always had it bad for Asian women. I used to party with a beautiful (and wealthy) Taiwanese girl. Too bad she had a boyfriend. ;) As I got a little older, my ethnic taste shifted a bit. To the "any girl that I think is cool and digs me, too" ethnicity. That's a good one. Yup. :D

Oh, please keep this stuff out of Astrids. That's like posting 4e hate for no reason in General or 3.5 hate in Prev Gen just to get a rise. It's just not a good thing to do.

My taste in women (and my dating history) pretty much runs the gamut. I've dated girls from Europe, former Soviet Republics, Arab nations, Africa, Central America and the good old U. S. of A. My college years were kind of like that "It's a small world" ride at Disney land only the women were real and they weren't usually in ethnic dress. In my experience, girls (just like guys) are pretty much the same the world over, with enough individual variation to keep things fun. I was always attracted to the ones I thought were interesting, and lucky for me those tended to be the smart, cute, outgoing ones. ;)

I spent a month in Japan and loved every moment of it. Being a tall, thin, American with extremely long black hair seemed to attract every awesome looking Japanese girl for miles around. And I enjoyed their exotic looks and accents.

I spent some time in Ireland and loved every minute of it there too. The women and their accents got me every time. What was the saying there I heard a lot; "I didn't ask if you were married. I didn't say I wanted to marry you. I said I wanted to " Well I guess you probably know the rest.

So it doesn't matter where you go, they are all awesome!

I like fake asian girls is likely more on target.

ie, I like anime, and lets be honest, real asian girls don't look remotely like that.

I suppose it's no more unfair to ask asian girls to look like anime girls, than it is to ask North American girls to manage to keep pace with Barbie dolls.

Can't comment on French girls, although I'm from Quebec, must be some similarities.

You can ask an American girl to pose in Sailor Moon outfit, or be one of those anime cosplayers.

As for the Barbie doll reference, I thought Mattel have already changed the doll's figure to reflect the average American girl's shape.

You mean there are no REAL bishoujo out there wearing schoolgirl uniforms, who have long, flowing hair and size -3 waists? Damn, thanks for dashing my hopes. ;)

To be honest, I don't really care overmuch about a girl's... well, assets. Tall, short, flat, chesty, exotic, girl next door, hot is hot to me. I will say that I'm more attracted to women with dark hair, which Asians tend to have, but plenty of other ethnicities have that, too, including the French. I'm half-French myself (my dad's from Canada), so I do occassionally like French women, but in the end, it doesn't really matter.

Hmmm yes I realize you can get a live real female to dress up.

But after 5 Anime North conventions, it is my sad duty to inform you, that real girls, of the sort that enjoy anime, are rarely anime girl shaped

Or at least to my knowledge, Sailormoon wasn't 23 and 300 pounds dry

Yeah there ARE a few girls that might look fairly ok in an anime outfit. There are usually the same amount that might look ok in Playboy too.

It posed some real problems for Asians at first, what with the whole sexual reproduction thing. They seem to have adjusted well, though. Using secret tai chi techniques, they've managed to split asexually and populate the Asian subcontinent in that manner.

I'm the opposite. I want (and have, btw) a woman that commands an incredible amount of self-respect. I want a woman who wants to be seen as an equal to men, because she is an equal. I want her to be her own woman, not being traditional for the sake of tradition or submissive to me (or men in general) in any way whatsoever. I want a woman who isn't afraid to challenge me, or anyone for that matter.

It doesn't, especially since you're only repeating what you found. Can you link what you found btw? I don't doubt you at all, I'm just interested in reading the details on that.

Also, I don't think it's racist to asthetically prefer people of a particular ethnicity or ethnicities. That's something you can't really help-- it's no more prejudiced than visually preferring one individual over another (for example, Emilie Simon over Alizee [I went there]) because it's really the same thing but on a larger scale. We find certain features attractive, and if a particular race happens to have those features, then we'll naturally prefer members of that race. It's just a visual preference, and nothing more, imho.

What if you're of mixed race? You have more predisposed options?

I think he meant that regardless of your own race, you're born with a predisposition to be asthetically pleased by members of a particular race (i.e. people who share similar features). What's going on, I think, is that you're born preferring certain features over others, and will therefore prefer members of those races which tend to have the features you prefer.

It wouldn't be unthinkable that you'd prefer several different races, or even a specific blend (half-asian half-french is pretty hot).

if it works for you than GREAT!

its a culture difference...i view women as equals, but i believe they should be submissive.

i think it is the mans duty to take charge...not the womans. it has been this way since the first man and woman.

only in modern society has this changed. so now i see a lot of '1 snake with 2 heads' trying to rip the body in half.

i think a lot of people take offence to the word submissive like its a bad thing...but everyone is submissive to someone else....to a boss, to a parent, a spouse.

i refer to submission of a woman to a man, NOT a slave to a master like some people twist the meaning to.

many sex roles are disappearing in modern society because of this "everyones the same and equal in all aspects" way of thinking.

that is directly related to a loss in values that women had 60 years ago. Most have no idea of what it is to be a 'woman... only what it is to be a 'girl.

Don't get me wrong, I believe that anyone should be able to achieve anything that their ambition and skill allows them to. I don't have issues with female supervisors or teachers or female anything.

The #1 cause of divorce is marriage.

If I end up a little submissive to my girlfriend, than so be it. She's smarter than I am, probably wiser, too (though older, my experience doesn't count for anything). So, when it comes to decision making.. I'll leave the headaches up to her. I'm just here for my brawn. :P

if it works for you than GREAT!

its a culture difference...i view women as equals, but i believe they should be submissive.

i think it is the mans duty to take charge...not the womans. it has been this way since the first man and woman.

only in modern society has this changed. so now i see a lot of '1 snake with 2 heads' trying to rip the body in half.

i think a lot of people take offence to the word submissive like its a bad thing...but everyone is submissive to someone else....to a boss, to a parent, a spouse.

i refer to submission of a woman to a man, NOT a slave to a master like some people twist the meaning to.

many sex roles are disappearing in modern society because of this "everyones the same and equal in all aspects" way of thinking.

that is directly related to a loss in values that women had 60 years ago. Most have no idea of what it is to be a 'woman... only what it is to be a 'girl.

In general the best relationships between workers and bosses are not submissive. It works best when the boss has clear expectations and the workers are free to bring suggestions. That is not a submissive relationship, it is one between people who respect each other for having different roles within a hierarchical structure.

People who are submissive to their parents also tend to have a lot of issues and do not do well as adults on their own. A normal part of maturing into an adult is separating yourself from your parents and developing a strong self-identity.

I think you have no idea what the word submissive means in a behavioral context.

What happened to two heads are better than one? You are honestly telling me that you don't think that two intelligent people discussing a problem are going to come up with the best possible solution more often than one person even if they are taking the other person into account? Why does anybody need to be in charge? Why not work together towards a common goal with equal input from both parties?

You really think that the average woman is anything like Paris or Brittney? Seriously?

Can you define what a woman is? Because I am quite confidant in my role as a woman. I love my husband. I love our life together and I will argue with him to keep it going in a positive direction.

For me, at least, there is nothing worse than a woman that cannot make a decision and always defers to my judgement. I can't handle that. I need (and have) a woman who will openly question choices she does not agree with. And that's good. The way it works for us, at least, is that we found that, like most people, we each have things we know more about or are simply better at doing. So we take the lead on those and ask advice when we run into questions. She, for example, handles the money and bills. How's that for bucking "tradition"? ;) She's better at it. And we're a team. So it was a better decision to have the more capable person handle this area. And it's workin' out great. IMO (and IME), you can't have one person "in charge" and the other be submissive to them. It won't work in today's world.

I do, however, agree that a woman should know her place. And so should a man. That place, of course, is a member of a team of equals. Thinking a woman should be submissive to her man simply because she is a woman and he is a man is so backwards a thought I don't even want to go into it further. Hell, if that's "how it should be" maybe we should go back to separate schools and drinking fountains. Know your place is discrimination. And just because your wife or girl or whatever happens to be the same race as you doesn't change anything about this. If that's what you (general) believe, you're just as guilty as a racist, IMO. Get over yourself.

The problems with this world do not stem from a lack of spiritual guidance. They come from this type of backwards, dated, uneducated thinking. Put that in yer pipe an' smoke it. ;)

The first kinda looks like Alyssa Milano in a couple of the pictures, only less filled out. They could both stand a square meal or two.

I don't think they're too skinny, but I don't think that meal would hurt, either. Still, if that's what France has to offer, they can keep 'em. They're "ok", but nothin' special. I work with better lookin' girls. And I don't work in the "biz" or porn. It's an office. In Ohio. ;)

I grew up in an area that was dominated by 3rd and 4th generation German, Czech, Irish and Swedish immigrants. The girls I came through school with were absolutely gorgeous. I'm pretty hard to impress when it comes to European ideals of beauty at this point.

Of course, it was also a farm town, so I kinda got acclimated to the idea of the female form having curves and some real musculature (from actually working). It always put me a ways outside of the mainstream as far as my taste in women and cultural expectations thereof.

French girls don't look like the "girl next door" to me at all. They're every bit as exotic as Asian girls, imho. I prefer the features of French women

Hmm. My preference would hinge on two factors:

1. Who has bigger boobs?

2. Who likes to talk less?

These allow for a D&D-style alignment system, with boobs as the good-evil axis and talking representing the law-chaos axis.

Yeah, it's all sort of "meh" to me, too. My tastes have changed to be a little more like yours as I've gotten older, though. I used to be into that rail thin thing but now I like a little meat on the ol' bones. Curves are good. And a bony pelvis hurts after a time. Not that there aren't different ways of "doing things" to avoid that, but still.;)

I think half of the problem with the debate further up in this topic, about men and women and who is in charge in the relationship, is that the connotations of the word submissive are drastically different than what they were a long time ago. I think a clearer synonym in light of modern language should be used/created to better convey the point across both sides.

Also, I think Alizee is hotter, even though I can't put my finger on the exact reason why.

This is exactly where I stand as well. A woman who is confident and demands respect is vastly sexier than one who submissively fades into the background.

I love a woman that is more than capable of standing up for herself but allows me to do it for her sometimes. I wouldn't want a throw rug for a mate. Having said that ,though, I notice that mine does defer to me alot more than yours seems to defer to you. Don't get me wrong, I don't force her into submission. Her submission is a willing act. I know for a fact if she really wanted, she could probably do me serious physical and fiscal* harm. We live in a different sort of relationship.

*I make the money, she spends it. I don't have the foggiest clue about the household finances and I'm fine with that. She controls the money and makes sure that I have what I need when I need it.

A lot of people would probably agree with you, at least judging by their comparative popularity. Personally I think she looks... "awkward..." from certain angles/looks/whatever, where Emilie Simon looks hot no matter how you look at her. But for me it also comes down to something I can't put my finger on (this goes towards a question another poster asked as well, about what "features" it is that I find attractive-- I just don't know, my wife was the one that pointed out I have a "thing" for french women, in fact).

I also think Emilie Simon has a better voice and is more musically talented. Also, she's flat-out cooler; did Alizee cover a Nirvana song? Nope. Emilie Simon did! :P (I guess that doesn't mean much if you don't like Nirvana and/or think Emilie's cover was crap.)

The subject of French women compared to Asian women seems to be a bit narrow. What about peoples preferences on other woman such as Latino, ebony, middle eastern, eastern, and pacific islander. How would everyone rank these other women when comparing them to French and Asian women?

I agree, it really is a pretty narrow subject. It was mostly intended as a jab to those who like Asian women so much, but failed because apparently there aren't so many of those types of guys on this forum. It would have worked much better on an anime or video game forum. Sigh.

I really don't try to "rank" different races and ethnicities in general. I actually once got into a discussion on another forum about the visual pleasures of women all across different cultures/races/etc and came up with examples from each. I think that would really be a better idea than just trying to list our preferences in order. Besides, that's actually pretty hard beyond just "Favorite, and everything else."

I'll give this a shot.

Black women: Halle Berry immediately comes to mind. Not sure if she counts because I think she's bi-racial. Also, there's another woman, Venessa or Veronica or something, was on a sitcom. Can't remember her name but she was pretty hot. I'll try to find out.

Latino/Latina: Salma Hayek and Jennifer Lopez are total babes. In fact I really like Latin American women, come to think of it.

Hm, red-heads haven't gotten any love yet, so Renee Olstead takes my vote for hot young red-head. She's legal, I can say that.

I'm a little short on time right now but I'll definitely come up with more and post 'em.

And they are rarely interested

I go to Chicago's ACEN every year and there is alot of good cosplayers (and bad ones). I went as Rukia of Bleach, http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=83434428&albumID=2059215&imageID=28261773

Yeah, but you don't date whole demographic groups. My personal alignment is Busty Quiet. Trying to find a whole ethnic or national demographic of women with that alignment is, of course, unlikely. But you only need to find one girl with the same or a very similar alignment...at a time.

I've also house-ruled that boob size actually represents boob-to-butt ratio, making the alignment even more demanding to roleplay properly.

It is not "the fad" in the last decade to be lesbian but rather that people are able to more freely come out with their sexual preferences. As for the young people they at a time of their life when they are trying to find out what they like. If these young woman have a lot of prick men degrade them then they will likely be more inclined to prefer woman over men.

Do you actually think about what you're saying, or is this some sort of finger-related turets syndrome?

Lesbianism isn't a fad; it's a reality of the human genome that has only recently become accepted enough for those who have it to feel as though they can express it publically. The fact that they can now state the fact out loud without (realistic) fear of stoning in the streets has gone a long way towards that.

The fact that we're hearing more about it now is a product of society being more willing to accept those who don't fit the stereotypical norms we've been forcefed for centuries. It's not some passing fad, it's been here forever.

Lesbianism is not a fad. Fads involve choice. You choose to follow the herd and buy the hideously disgusting gigantic white-framed rectangular sunglasses. You do not choose to like girls over boys. A lesbian no more chooses to be one than I (or you) "chose" to be straight. It's really not that difficult a concept to grasp.

I do think that a lot of people confuse sexuality with fun in bed. Homosexuality or heterosexuality or bisexuality are all based on the gender of the partners with which an individual can form long term physical and emotional relationships.

Based on that definition most teenagers probably shouldn't be able to claim any sexuality :P

Really a tongue is a tongue and hands are hands. Many of those teenage girls are just expressing the fact that they can get physical enjoyment from going to bed with people of both sexes. We don't really have a term for someone who enjoys physical relations with both sexes but only forms long term physical and emotional relationships with members of a single sex. I think you currently see it more with women because there is less social stigma against women sleeping with both men and women. So really saying they are bi is the best option they have until someone comes up with a new word.

This is where things get tricky because I don't agree with your categorization of sexualities. I don't think that it's who you can have a lasting relationship with that matters. Sexuality is more complicated than that. Remember, not all people choose to be monogamous. Are those people therefore asexual, even if they have lots of sex? No, they aren't; they're still either heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, etc etc etc.

I'd say it has more to do with attractiveness and willingness to have sex with certain genders more than anything. Admittedly it gets a bit tricky when a person is attracted to members of both genders but emotionally only prefers one, but we can't use that as our basis because that leaves out people who specifically don't want emotional relationships and the like. Likewise we can't go only by what genders you can be attracted to because many people who are straight or gay (but not bi [you'll understand shortly]) can find beauty in members of both sexes but would only sleep with members of one.

Your comment about teenagers not being able to claim sexuality actually highlights my case, here, because one's sexuality, most scientists agree, is determined pre-birth.

I think that your sexuality (not the label you place on your sexuality but your actual sexuality) determines things like who you're attracted to, to what extent, who you would be willing to sleep with, who you would be disgusted at the thought of sleeping with, and things of that nature.

One important word in my definition is can. Not does. The quip about teenagers was a joke. I do think that sexuality is determined at birth. I do think that there are asexual people, however, I would define asexual as people who cannot ever form long term emotional and physical relationships with members of either sex as opposed to people who choose not to form long term emotional and physical relationships.

This is only how I see it, but I see it as being two completely separate categories: people an individual could form a long term emotional and physical relationship with and people an individual could physically enjoy messing around with.

I see the first as determined at birth. I see the second as determined socially. Common limits on the second group are being of a similar age, not looking like family and sometimes, but not always, gender.

I don't think monogamy has anything to do with this. There are plenty of people in monogamous relationships who don't have an emotional relationship and there are other people who do have a long term emotional and physical relationship who aren't monogamous.

Okay, gotcha, we seem to agree.

Note that a large portion of my post was just me thinking out loud, not actually arguing with you or anything.

Sometimes, I start typing, and then I type and type until I forget why I originally was typing in the first place. :D

Sounds familiar actually

I didn't think you were. It is fairly nebulous territory since the words we use right now just don't really define the entirety of human sexuality well. Discussion is good.

ahh, women, a subject i feel has enough importance to post on. : )

Personally, i just have the whole "preferences" kinda thing going on. I like dark hair and dark eyes. i like tanned skin. so, this usually puts my taste in the realms of Latinas, Asians, or Middle-eastern.

For some reason, there's something about Middle-eastern women that usually puts them out of the running, and the bad part is, i have no idea what it is.

so for me it usually boils down to latinas or asians, although like some other people have said, any woman can be beautiful. Right now i have a Filipina girlfriend, (i'm mexican-american) and believe it or not, our cultures have a lot in common. It works out pretty well. : )

Yeah, it helps when we were both formerly subject citizen races of the once-mighty Spanish Empire.

Asian, French, it's all the same.

Alls I know is....

Are you gonna take me home tonight
Ah down beside that red firelight
Are you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls
You make the rockin' world go round

Hey I was just a skinny lad
Never knew no good from bad
But I knew life before I left my nursery
Left alone with big fat fanny
She was such a naughty nanny
Heap big woman you made a bad boy out of me
Hey hey!

Ive been singing with my band
Across the wire across the land
I seen every blue eyed floozy on the way
But their beauty and their style
Went kind of smooth after a while
Take me to them dirty ladies every time

Oh wont you take me home tonight?
Oh down beside your red firelight
Oh and you give it all you got
Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin' world go round
Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin' world go round

Hey listen here
Now your mortgages and homes
I got stiffness in the bones
Ain't no beauty queens in this locality (I tell you)
Oh but I still get my pleasure
Still got my greatest treasure
Heap big woman you gonna make a big man out of me
Now get this

Oh you gonna take me home tonight (please)
Oh down beside your red firelight
Oh you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin' world go round
Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin' world go round
Get on your bikes and ride

Oooh yeah them fat bottomed girls
Fat bottomed girls
Yeah yeah yeah
Fat bottomed girls
Yes yes

well i still hold my opinion that this is some form of style or a fad.....

girls think it is cool to be bi or gay.... as soon as its not uncommon and everyone is doing it... they will find something else to grab attention.

now i admit that does not fit all the bills.....the other part is women who have a very perverse sexual appetite and want to do something that they feel is "bad" "dirty",or "rebellious"

i believe this is fact, but outsiders can take it as an opinion...

thinking it is right or normal is like calling black white...or day night..

humans are the only creature to attempt such ridiculous things. and that frightens me... we are supposed to be the smartest..

i see it as a symbol of people abusing their intelligence and attempting to mate with their own sex.

im sure some of you will throw excuses at me like.. "people are born gay" or "it just feels right" or "its sexual freedom and liberating"

i see it as ignorant, primitive, and mindless.

This coming from someone who thinks woman need to be submissive....

Its not the lion that kills. Its his mate. He scares them to her. She kills. Thats nature. If anything males should be submissive.

http://www.livescience.com/animals/080516-gay-animals.html

According to University of Oslo zoologist Petter Böckman, about 1,500 animal species are known to practice same-sex coupling, including bears, gorillas, flamingos, owls, salmon and many others.

Doesn't seem so unnatural after all, does it?

P.S. Does anyone remember the relevant quote from I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, where the girl gives off a list of animals known to sleep with members of the same sex? I remember she included dolphins and chimpanzees, but that's about it.

When she was growing up, my [now-]wife's dog and cat, both female, were always doing raunchy things, from what I hear.

Here are a few links about gay animals.

So What if Animals Have Gay Sex?

The Gay Animal Kingdom

Bisexual Species: Unorthodox Sex in the Animal Kingdom

Homosexual behavior in animals

Birds do it, bees do it . . .

The Natural "Crime Against Nature"

If humans are taking advantage of our intelligence by having gay relations then does that mean the over 1,000 species of animal are smarter than humans? I mean that they have been doing it openly for a while now and, well we humans have been doing it openly for only a couple decades, so wouldn't that mean that the animals abused their superior intelligence first? :P

So, animals engage in infanticide, including chimps. I mean they've been doing it openly for a while.

Your logic is slightly flawed to say the least.

What about homosexual men? It is only the girls that do it for attention.

What about people who live in places where they are killed for homosexuality? Why would anyone 'choose' a lifestyle that could bring death?

Also, there are several studies that suggest that cultures with higher rates of homosexuality have been more successful over the entire time course of the human race. There are extra people around to care for children when their parents die. It provides a social buffer in high mortality environments. You can argue that it is no longer 'advantageous' to society in the same way, but homosexuality exists because it is advantageous to the human race (and to other species).

Here is a link to an article, I know the abstract is free to the public, I don't know if you will be able to read the whole thing: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11045933?ordinalpos=13&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_DefaultReportPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum

I'm suddenly reminded of the "Why is this girl eating her shirt?" threads rabidchan would post at GameFAQs under the WOT board.

..of course reposting some of those images would probably get me in trouble. Then again, I'm surprised rabidchan wasn't banned. But, this isn't GameFAQs, now is it?

You have Paris Hilton as a muse :D ,
we, the French, have Alizee !

http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=ct8KEYjVn00&feature=related

;)

I wouldn't call Paris Hilton anythign even close to resembling a muse. I don't get the media's fascination with her, and yes, it is the media mostly; not a single guy I know thinks she's hot.

You want American Muses? How about Beonce, Gwen Stefani, Pink, Christina Aguillera, hell, I'd even consider Jessica Simpson (god help me, she's hot until she opens her mouth). How about Tina Fey, Piper Perabo, or Melinda Clarke? (I don't watch a lot of TV so I can't think of any others right now.) None of these are great examples, but I'd take any of them over freackin' Paris Hilton.
