| #1terronusJul 22, 2008 20:16:04 | OK. Nearly every D&D player in existence has heard the Dead Alewives' D&D sketches. We hear, at the very least, a vague reference to them almost every session. It doesn't help that my DM is a mountain dew addict. Has anyone seen or heard any funny parodies/skits other than this? The Dead Alewives were smart and intuitive about how to parodize gamers. The Reno 911 D&D group, while making me chuckle, was not really funny enough to watch more than once. Here are some vids that I enjoyed, with a brief explanation of each. D&D The Best Game Ever Show http://youtube.com/watch?v=4YrUwDE0HG0 Funny, it was witty and had a lot of insight. Someone there must have been an experienced gamer. |

| #4terronusJul 23, 2008 1:17:41 | Kaius, thanks for the vid, I'll definitely be showing our group. Here's a couple of other ones. Fellowship of the D20 Show http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=5IfqFNbutqs Short and funny. I wish they had finished the film. |

| #6JohnLynchJul 23, 2008 3:29:16 | Is the Dead Alewives video the one with the cheetos? Because I thought that was an actual D&D game. |
| #7terronusJul 23, 2008 11:37:01 | Yah. They were a comedy troupe out of Wisconsin in the 90s, I think. Not sure if they ever did much of anything else, but the "session" was originally put on a CD... which is why we get so many fan-made videos of it today. There was a video of the sketch as a bonus feature on the video game Summoner, however there is a 2nd sketch that has no "official" video per se. Well, here they are for posterity: Dead Alewives Part 1 http://youtube.com/watch?v=vChEPj0dXXk Dead Alewives Part 2 http://youtube.com/watch?v=o1e20K3Tmj0 |

The Dead Alewives did an audio sketch - two, actually. Several videos have been made using that as a soundtrack but none were made by the Dead Alewives. |
| #9terronusJul 23, 2008 13:26:06 | Duly noted, that was a mistake on my part... in fact I mentioned a little bit about their history in the post right above, but I'll go ahead and fix the OP as well. ![]() |
| #10terronusJul 23, 2008 21:43:58 | At the end of my original post I mentioned a video I couldn't find. Well, here it is, and I think its definitely worth watching. D&D Guy: Episode 1 Show http://youtube.com/watch?v=_43VgvonSOo Every gamer has made a wise crack or passing joke about this scenario. These guys perfected it... I recommend episode 2 as well. As a side note, I wish my DM used these sorts of descriptions. You almost feel like you're there! |
| #11terronusJul 25, 2008 11:44:01 | Dungeons and Dragons Show http://youtube.com/watch?v=6yQhMkyDS5s Probably one of the most immersive games I've ever seen. And funniest... so many subtle things make this video funny. |
| #12terronusJul 27, 2008 19:32:08 | Well, I'm running out of steam (or in this case, videos). If anymore people enjoyed this thread or have more to add... please do! Or at least let me know you're interested and I will continue my vigilant hunt for the best videos out there. So, here's another I came across. Dungeons and Dragons Game Night Show http://youtube.com/watch?v=KWBdHdNqr2Q When the cat's away, the mice will play... and this gaming group's dynamics are awesome. Plus, they get bonus points for playing AD&D. Enjoy. |
| #13EndarireNov 05, 2008 0:42:07 | I enjoyed the D&D Guy first episode, though the shower scene was awkward. |
| #14terronusNov 05, 2008 18:22:24 | I enjoyed the D&D Guy first episode, though the shower scene was awkward. Deliberately so! Probably the part I laughed the hardest because I didn't know what I would do if a were the player in that situation. |
| #15deckinhandNov 24, 2008 8:51:05 | I admit that this is not directly on point by not being about D&D specifically. However, these fellas are cut from the same cloth and it is hysterical. http://www.milkandcookies.com/link/2536/detail/ Terronus: I'll remove this post if you think it's too off topic. |
| #16batshidoNov 24, 2008 8:56:05 | Penny-Arcade has done some awesome strips about D&D. I'd link to them, but I'm pretty sure they all violate the CoC. It's kind of a trope with them. |
| #17werralNov 24, 2008 9:13:35 | A comic not a video but DM of the Rings is a classic |
| #18terronusNov 24, 2008 11:17:24 | Terronus: I'll remove this post if you think it's too off topic. No way, that was hilarious. A comic not a video but DM of the Rings is a classic Good stuff, too. I had read a few of these a while back and forgot! I'll have to go back and read some more. Here's a slightly off-topic yet funny video: Harry Potter in the Hood: Show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GpZpoaZaSE This doesn't really require much explaining. |
| #19EndarireNov 24, 2008 16:28:36 | D&D PSA Part 1 I preferred this part most. |
| #20The_White_SorcererNov 26, 2008 22:08:56 | Penny-Arcade has done some awesome strips about D&D. I'd link to them, but I'm pretty sure they all violate the CoC. It's kind of a trope with them. "I like popsicles." |
| #21deckinhandDec 24, 2008 8:17:41 | For good measure. |
| #22terronusDec 24, 2008 11:29:35 | Well, its not D&D... but I haven't been able to find much in comedy shorts lately (just the serial shows, like the PSAs, Unforgotten Realms) so here's a short one that "nerds" can relate to: Telephone Nerd |

| #24guest742122278Dec 30, 2008 5:28:25 | It isn't exactly a parody or anything like that. but a 10 minute skit from the shortlived tv series Freaks and Geeks. On youtube, look up Freaks and Geeks and keep an eye out for anything that goes along the lines of "DnD" and "Carlos the Dwarf". And i agree, the Dead Alewives thing is getting old fast. The casting magic missile into the darkness was funny the first 2 times maybe, but after hearing it everytime a spellcaster in my group misses an attack, "oh i wasn't attacking him i was attacking the darkness", i just wanna punch a baby. |
| #25terronusDec 30, 2008 11:39:24 | The Gamers 1: Those were surprisingly awesome. Good find! I know what you mean. As a referenced in the first post, my old DM (his campaign ended a month or two back) was always drinking mountain dew. You can imagine how many times during a game someone would do the high pitched drone of 'Where's the mountain dew?' 'Can I have a mountain dew?' ... |
