So, who went? I just finished DMing there. It was freaking amazing.

I improvised the adventure, using the minis they gave us as a base.

The white dragon totally OWNED the cleric, rogue, and fighter. Everybody laughed, though, because we didn't plan on keeping the characters.

Anyone else got stories from the Game Day?

Played the game. I found it enjoyable, as did the rest of the group I met there. The DM was really prepared.

We noticed that there were no stats in the book for the white dragon but at the end there is a continuation for a part two. Could this be for the second Worldwide DND day set in November????

Overall, I enjoyed the new system (Nothing beat doing sneak attack damage to undead) Oh I did cry a little when our wizard misses with magic missile.

I just got back from Game Day a little while ago. Had a blast. The players I played with were great and we're going to start a biweekly 4e group. Our rolls were absolutely ~atrocious~ in the first part. It didn't matter what we were rolling for after we got to the tomb, we rolled bad. Damage, to hit, skill checks, healing, anything. The DM, however, was rolling gangbusters and we were lucky that only one person (the rogue) died, though people dropped off to the dying level early and often in every fight. We played the white dragon bit as a separate thing from the earlier adventure. It was a lot more even, but my poor cleric got absolutely destroyed in a single barrage of attacks. Two crits and a near max damage on the third. I had no hope. But the whole experience was fun. I liked a lot of the 4e changes before I played, but I really learned to enjoy them after playing.

I'm just coming home. That was really fun, we only had twelve people because one group couldn't make it due to a car accident but it was still unbelievably fun. I DMed Into the Shadowhaunt first and the party did very well. No one knew the new rules but they managed to get the wraith to side with them at the end. The only failure they had there, was where one group fought the animated statues and the others fought Helvic (Helvic Thrust at our table). They ripped the white dragon to pieces. I didn't even pull back on it but they tore it apart. Especially the rogue, he kept on getting combat advantage and did so much sneak attack damage. The players really loved it and my co-DM finally got some real field experience (He's new to DMing). Afterwards, I brought some character sheets, we rolled a few characters and had a two v. two fighting tournament. I played my Elven Two-Weapon Style Ranger with my friends Dragonborn Inspiring Warlord against a Tiefling Rogue and a Dwarf Fighter. Now I'm home (luckily since it was two large clubs who played today, one of us got to keep our own set of minis and the others kept theirs, so we just doubled our minis amount. I already have a nice quest in mind as a sort of sequel to H1. Now that the threat of Shadowfell Keep is nullified, the Winterhaven militia has no problem patrolling the roads for bandits and the like. However, the leader (forgot his name) is captured by some Orcs who demand ransom from the leader of Winterhaven who calls on the trusted heroes who liberated from the Kobold torment. I'm building it so that there will be a buildup of Orc activity as they grow to threaten the Nentir valley. Fun stuff, the new edition is brilliant.

I DM'd the starting adventure twice for different groups. The first one had people completely new to D&D including two young teens (13ish or so). None of them had really paid much attention to the previews or knew a lot about 4e. They also survived the adventure, which is more than I could say about the other group.

Both groups made the same error in slightly different ways and were split up when they triggered the animated statues and the last fight with the mage at the same time. The first group got a little luckier with its rolls, and chose to attack the mage first and worry about the statues second, which let them drop each opponent faster than the other group, which not only split its focus between the statues and mages, but between the statues as well, so they quickly ran afoul of the statues' "knock them down and stomp them to bits" strategy. Total party kill.
