I have recently started the book (love it) and I thought it might be fun to post who you think would be the best actor to fill each role. Imagine you are the casting director with an unlimited budget to hire actors. Who would you choose to play the various roles in the live action production of "Game of Thrones"? |

Sorry, the body count of main characters in the first book alone makes me think any attempt to translate it to the screen will be a disservice to the story. Although I would like to see who they get to play Tyrion and the final scene with his father would be quite a feat to sneak past the censors. I'll wait with baited breath for his next novel, but I doubt a movie will ever be released. |

Not "attempting to buy the rights". HBO (with the BBC providing financial backing as they did with Rome) have the rights, and are filming a pilot episode (but no more, just yet - they want to see how successful it is before they commit to a full series). |
