I made this survey, and I've gotten a lot of people to take it, but not very many of them are gamers. That gives me a good control group, but I still want a lot more gamers to compare them to, so I thought I'd stop by here and see if anybody would be kind enough to help me get a good grade by taking my survey. It's only 10 questions and only takes about a minute or two to complete. Here's a link to the survey; it's on SurveyMonkey. Feel free to critique the survey questions, etc. I've never made a survey before, so the feedback would be nice. ![]() |

For example, someone who worked a standard 40 hour workweek could have selected either 30-40 hours or 40-50 hours for their work hours. A better option would have been something like 30-39 hours and 40-49 hours. |

My reasoning was originally that most people who do work, for example, a standard 40-hour work week still either tend to leave early or late to some degree pretty consistently, even if only by a couple of minutes. But even though my professor took a look and said that was okay, a couple of people have told me that, so I'm gonna work on that when I design future surveys, thanks. ![]() I probably wouldn't do something like 30 - 39 and then 40 - 49, though, because that leaves gaps for people who, say, work 39.5 hours (like me because I used to take off from work early all of the time), but yeah, I still get your point. |

| #5pluisjenSep 30, 2011 6:30:39 | Filled it out, although my profession (being a game designer) might screw with results a bit as I spend many hours playing games at work. Also for "playing games in the physical presence of friends" I often game with my girlfriend sitting across from me, but that doesn't neccesarily mean she's gaming as well, she's just near :P |
| #6EscherEnigmaSep 30, 2011 10:56:43 | My computer and game consoles are all in the living room. My SO is currently a house-husband. I'm pretty sure that he's always around when I'm gaming, whether I'm gaming with him or not... I think I chose one of the high percents just cause he might pop out to take a shower or run to the store or something... |
| #7zombie_babiesSep 30, 2011 13:14:26 | Done. I chose 100% for that 'in the presence' thing cuz I only play when my stepson has all his homework done and wants to. In other words, I don't play vidya games by myself right now. So yeah, I answered in the proper spirit, I think. Though it would have been the same answer regardless. Oh well. The toughest question was the age one. I really have a time remembering. I'm not old or anything, dates and time and stuff just aren't my thing. |
