Kotaku Article - Geek Chic - The Sultan

OK, this has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've seen...

Then again, if I was rich I'd like one of these...

Sort of Want

Someone posted their website a while ago.   While I don't like the Sultan (I think it looks ugly), I like the smaller one (the Emissary, I think).  I am considering getting it (it's not really that much more than a nice, permanent dining room table) when we finally settle down for a length of time.  It would be really nice to store my gaming stuff in the table when not gaming, and the pull-out drawers and tables would be really handy!

True.  But if you're into woodworking & furniture building it's not just about the $ being saved.  The time spent crafting is infinitly more rewarding than just paying for the item.

Also, which of the following is more awesome;
1) "Hey, nice table, where'd you get it?"
"Oh, I auctioned off some redundant organs and bought it from Target"
2) "Hey, nice table, where'd you get it?"
"I expletiving made this! How you like me now, expletives?"
?

... they're both pretty unawesome, to me.  The first one has very bad priorities, and the second one is just a jerk. Tongue out

Am I the only one wondering what kind of Target this guy shops at that he can buy an $8000 niche-market table there?

An awesome one? I really just went with my favorite store thanks to the new forums wonderful feature of not letting you see the previous posts in a thread you're replying to (I could open a new tab, but that requires effort).

Point, although I think that the stuff I listed was more of an internal response, what you actually say being more polite.

Eh, if I actually had the disposable cash to be able to make an entertainment purchase like that, as well as having a residence large enough to house such a thing without eating dinner on it every night, I'd probably buy one.
On the other hand, if I actually had that much cash to spend on unnecessary things, it's also likely that I might be inspired to take the basic idea and just custom-build one to my own particular specifications, since I have at least passable proficiency in most of the skills required to do so.
