| #1jetshieldMay 14, 2012 22:47:11 | really knows how to make friends with his neighbors. |
| #2homicidal_squirrelMay 14, 2012 23:54:12 | ![]() Well played. |
| #3Ragnar_LodbrokMay 14, 2012 23:57:33 | Heh. Hell yes. |
| #4zombie_babiesMay 15, 2012 7:52:55 | Benevolence out of spite is not benevolence. He's doing this to be a bastard to his rich neighbors. What do you think that says about what he thinks of poor people? To him, they're an annoyance he's able to exploit to cause discomfort. That's ... not very nice at all. |
| #5sfdragonMay 15, 2012 7:58:50 | and you know this how?? |
| #6Cpt_MichaMay 15, 2012 8:10:17 | Then once his rich neighbors move out, he can buy their property and make his movie/everything center on their former property. |
| #7Ragnar_LodbrokMay 15, 2012 8:49:28 | Benevolence out of spite is not benevolence. He's doing this to be a bastard to his rich neighbors. What do you think that says about what he thinks of poor people? To him, they're an annoyance he's able to exploit to cause discomfort. That's ... not very nice at all. I know. That's why it meets my approval. |
| #8zombie_babiesMay 15, 2012 10:32:22 | and you know this how?? Cuz he originally wanted something for himself and his neighbors said no. He said that real estate was more important to his rich neighbors than his own wishes so he'd give them what they wanted. You honestly can't see that he's doing this to spite his neighbors? He's trollin' - and that's cool. His view of poor folk isn't. Oh, and I know cuz I'm a genius.I know. That's why it meets my approval. Nothin' wrong with that. Lucas rolls like an OTTer, OTTers will like how Lucas rolls. ![]() |
| #9jetshieldMay 15, 2012 10:51:59 | Sure he's doing it to spite his neighbors. The poor still benefit from it, though. Proof that trolling can lead to good. |
| #10bone_nagaMay 15, 2012 11:09:51 | Benevolence out of spite is not benevolence. He's doing this to be a bastard to his rich neighbors. What do you think that says about what he thinks of poor people? To him, they're an annoyance he's able to exploit to cause discomfort. That's ... not very nice at all. No, but if he follows through with it he will still get my seal of approval. Seeking revenge on a homeowner's association is a worthy enough goal in and of itself. But this still doesn't make up for what he did to Star Wars and Indy. |
| #11zombie_babiesMay 15, 2012 11:44:32 | Sure he's doing it to spite his neighbors. The poor still benefit from it, though. Of course. Trolling for much justice. All I'm sayin' is that this good deed don't make him no good person. No, but if he follows through with it he will still get my seal of approval. Seeking revenge on a homeowner's association is a worthy enough goal in and of itself. The result of his action, sure. The reason behind it, notsomuch. And Star Wars always sucked. Indy, too. ![]() |
| #12homicidal_squirrelMay 15, 2012 18:05:31 | And Star Wars always sucked. Indy, too. Yup, totally true. |
| #13The_SilverswordMay 15, 2012 22:58:27 | And Star Wars always sucked. Indy, too. Lies!! |
| #14bone_nagaMay 16, 2012 5:23:26 | And Star Wars always sucked. Indy, too. Heathens! Stop your blasphemous lies or be burned at the stake! |
| #15zombie_babiesMay 16, 2012 8:10:39 | I'd be worried ... if I were lying. ![]() |
| #16Cpt_MichaMay 16, 2012 8:13:07 | Star wars got bioware. Star Trash got Cryptic. /thread. |
| #17zombie_babiesMay 16, 2012 8:16:46 | That's got nothing to do with the original product. Try this instead: Star Trek had Roddenberry. Star Bores had Lucas. /thread. As a matter of fact, the only thing I need to say to win (and prove Trek is superior) is to say that Bores had Lucas. I mean, it probably would have been better if it had been done by Bay ... or Boll. ![]() |
| #18Cpt_MichaMay 16, 2012 8:22:17 | Fine Trash got Brennen Brega. Trash had Voyager, and the first, most of the second, and fourth season of Enterprise. Oh and it had the first two seasons of TNG. Trash also got JJ Abrahms. /thread. |
| #19zombie_babiesMay 16, 2012 9:49:16 | Star Trek also had good series and movies. Bores? Never had even one good film. Though I guess it did have that epic Christmas Special. That was pretty awesome. ![]() |
| #20The_SilverswordMay 16, 2012 12:08:24 | damn Trekkies! |
| #21MechaPilotMay 16, 2012 14:54:18 | I actually like both franchises. However, my heart will always belong to Trek. WoK is still one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's easily the equal of any SW film. |
| #22zombie_babiesMay 16, 2012 15:52:24 | I guess Khan is supposed to be in the reboot sequel, too. Should be interesting. |
| #23MechaPilotMay 16, 2012 15:57:34 | Only if they can find the right actor. The interplay between Khan and Kirk is crucial, and I don't want to see them shove Robin Williams or the Governator in there just because they're big name actors. And since when is there going to be a sequel? I always figured they planned one (the Trek film franchise is fairly lucrative), but I never heard or read anything about it. |
| #24MechaPilotMay 16, 2012 16:29:58 | Ty for the link. I have been involved in school until recently, so I had very little time to check (not that I had actually remembered to). It's interesting to see that they plan to lay the grounds for the film in comics first. I'll have to keep an eye out for those. |
| #25homicidal_squirrelMay 16, 2012 17:11:03 | Fine ![]() After you stop crying, you may kill yourself. |
| #26Cpt_MichaMay 16, 2012 18:39:24 | Brega is worse than Binks. Brega brought you Voyager, and Enterprise. 4 hours of binks? Bitch Please. That's alot better than 7 seasons of a show that was an hour long an episode, and 3 seasons of another. Produced, and at times written by Brega. Also, frankly the original Trilogy is better than anything Trek has done since Star trek VI. And will always be such. Because you have Brega. |
| #27homicidal_squirrelMay 16, 2012 20:13:58 | Brega is worse than Binks. Brega brought you Voyager, and Enterprise. 4 hours of binks? Bitch Please. Translation It's true, Star Wars sucks. It's not just the massive galaxy-sized plot holes; it's also the terrible dialogue. Even the characters were terrible. Jar Jar is just one of them. The rest are as pointless. Still, I must defend it to the death because I don't know any better. I live a misserable existance. |
| #28MechaPilotMay 16, 2012 21:17:31 | Brega is worse than Binks. Brega brought you Voyager, and Enterprise. 4 hours of binks? Bitch Please. Khan, Undiscovered Country, & Generations are easily as good as the original SW trilogy. With the exception of the very first Star Trek film, which was rather abominable, even the worst Trek film is better than the worst SW film. Admittedly Voyager wasn't great; it had its high and low points. And Enterprise had a lot of promise, if you cut the whole "temporal cold war" thing out. Oh, and how many successful Star Wars series were there? Btw, I always thought a good Trek series would be a gritty rendition of the eugenics wars on Earth. I'd love to see the BSG people take a stab at that one. |
| #29Cpt_MichaMay 16, 2012 21:38:09 | First off you just ranked Generations in the company of VI and II with a straight face? You should shoot yourself while you're ahead. I, III, V, VII, Insurection, and hell even Nemesis are far worse than the original star wars trilogy. Voyager wasn't just "not great" it was Terrible, as in Horrible, and almost eye bleeding to watch. And Enterprise? Really? Promise? first off it had Scott Bakula as the captain. Nuff said. |
| #30MechaPilotMay 16, 2012 21:54:42 | First off you just ranked Generations in the company of VI and II with a straight face? I ranked them in the company of movies that is as good or better than the original SW trilogy. A bran muffin and a candy bar are both in the same company when you compare them to being better than a sun-baked turd. You should shoot yourself while you're ahead. Nope, but I do have some ammo left, so here goes. How many naval and Nasa vessels were called the Millenium Falcon? Right. ZERO! I, III, V, VII, Insurection, and hell even Nemesis are far worse than the original star wars trilogy. Than the original trilogy? I'll give you 1, 3, 4, Insurrection, and Nemesis, but Generations is just as good as Jedi. Oh, and I noticed you're skipping over the second trilogy. At least Trek had the good sense not to follow Kirk's children/parents when it changed generations. Voyager wasn't just "not great" it was Terrible, as in Horrible, and almost eye bleeding to watch. And Enterprise? Really? Promise? Voyager and Enterprise had problems, yes. However, Voyager had it's highs, and Enterprise could have done well with Bakula's Archer if they hadn't crapped out with the temporal cold war. Again, how many series has Star Wars had? Of those, how many were successful? |
| #31jetshieldMay 16, 2012 21:58:19 | first off it had Scott Bakula as the captain. Nuff said. All 4 times I tried to watch Enterprise, I expected Dean Stockwell to show up on the bridge and only be visible to Archer. |
| #32Cpt_MichaMay 16, 2012 22:06:14 | No, but people name their cars after it. Also? Enterprise was the name of a Carrier first. Which in turn was named after previous warships. I rank the second triology down where Voyager and Enterprise are. Both are equally crap tastic. To answer the series question? Why Two. And that means Two for Two. Oh, and lets expand this then. How many mega hits has star trek had in games? None? How many were critically acclaimed? None. Now... how many critically acclaimed mega selling star wars games have there been? Oh right. A ton. Star Treks video game highpoint has been Star Trek Online... and it's a horrible terrible game that's nowhere near as good as what it should be, infact it's on the verge of total collapse because CBS cares so little about the franchise (see they let Brega write or produce ****, and then **** the IP out to anyone with a $5 dollar bill in their hands) that they let LOLCryptic do it. |
| #33MechaPilotMay 16, 2012 22:19:36 | No, but people name their cars after it. Also? Enterprise was the name of a Carrier first. Which in turn was named after previous warships. So, you're trying to base the quality of Trek not on its own merits but on how its video game licensing was mishandled? As I said earlier, I like both franchises. They both have a hit-and-miss tradition with films. They both have novels and comics. They both had a cartoon series for children. And they both created the standard in nerd cosplay. |
| #34Cpt_MichaMay 16, 2012 22:23:07 | Oh I base it on it's own merits too. First couple seasons of TNG? TOS? Voyager? Enterprise? Terrible. Travesty infact. TOS gets the excuse of being the 60s and everyone was on drugs. Everything post that? Not so much. I like Trek or did until, Brega and CBS all but killed the IP. There is no "high" point of voyager that wasn't simply a knock off of TNG or DS9.. infact even in it's highs it did them worse. Enterprise... They clearly had no direction in mind till season 2. And then they couldn't hold to it. My point is simply, that Star Trash gets it's name as deservedly as the prequels in star wars slanders it too. And if you are willing to go outward from the original source materials. Star Wars eeks out an edge in the electronic world. |
| #35The_SilverswordMay 17, 2012 1:26:03 | I was gonna say something but then it occured to me, I guess you could say I had an epiphony or whatever, I mean we're arguing about Star Trek vs Star Wars!!!OMG! we are the biggest bunch of nerds around, OMG, did I just say OMG!? Lets never talk about this again! |
| #36zombie_babiesMay 17, 2012 8:11:00 | Hey Silversword: *ahem* We do this all the time precisely because it's basically the epitome of nerdiness to argue the subject - especially on the D&D boards. We also like to do it cuz we get all hyperbolic an' feign insult (intended and taken) just for grins. dood, I thought u wuz OTTer. ![]() |
| #37The_SilverswordMay 17, 2012 12:13:51 | I just think we need something a little more important to argue about, something like pirates vs ninjas! |
| #38IdolisMay 17, 2012 14:02:44 | Pirates do battle on ships called Galleons. Ninja sail boats called junks and are only cool when it comes to Shang Hai'ing folks to put on pirate ships. 'Nuff said. |
| #39zombie_babiesMay 17, 2012 14:24:10 | Agreed, HC. Ninjas devote their time to studying their art - stealth and combat. Pirates devote their time to studying their craft - seamanship - and then the rest of their time to getting hammered. In short, 'Ninja' is a career while 'Pirate' is just another name for a drunken sailor (earl-eye in the mornin'). ;) |
| #40MechaPilotMay 17, 2012 14:51:25 | I think the real debate is not Trek v. Wars or Pirate v. Ninja. It's Jedi/Sith (Star Wars ninjas) v. Star Trek space pirates. Cuz everything is better with "space" added to it. Just look at this classic Spelljammer monster: ![]() |
| #41ADHadhMay 17, 2012 18:58:22 | Could have been nerdier. Someone could mention more obscure Star Treks, like Battlestar Galactica or Firefly ![]() Or we could argue about Doctors. |
| #42MechaPilotMay 17, 2012 19:00:44 | Could have been nerdier. Someone could mention more obscure Star Treks, like Battlestar Galactica or Firefly Actually, I did mention Battlestar. I mentioned that it would be cool if the people who did the new Battlestar did a gritty Eugenics wars series for Star Trek. Also, I don't care what Sheldon says about it, I like Babylon 5. |
| #43jetshieldMay 17, 2012 19:04:29 | This was about ST vs SW. It wouldn't be fair to bring Firefly into it. Everyone knows Firefly was the best. |
| #44dancingpenguinMay 17, 2012 19:56:11 | This was about ST vs SW. It wouldn't be fair to bring Firefly into it. Everyone knows Firefly was the best. no it was about Lucas getting revenage on his neighbors, then someone else decided to drag it off topic for nother reason than "why not" |
| #45MechaPilotMay 17, 2012 20:11:40 | This was about ST vs SW. It wouldn't be fair to bring Firefly into it. Everyone knows Firefly was the best. We're nerds discussing George Lucas. The conversation was inevitably going to turn to star wars. |
| #46jetshieldMay 17, 2012 21:55:17 | This was about ST vs SW. It wouldn't be fair to bring Firefly into it. Everyone knows Firefly was the best. There's a difference between dragging a thread off topic and having a thread naturally evolve. George Lucas threads will almost inevitably evolve into SW vs ST threads. I knew that and fully expected it when I posted the OP. No one seems to mind except you. |
| #47dancingpenguinMay 17, 2012 22:00:38 | This was about ST vs SW. It wouldn't be fair to bring Firefly into it. Everyone knows Firefly was the best. I didn't mind,I was simply stating the starting point of the thread, not my fault you forgot how it started |
| #48homicidal_squirrelMay 17, 2012 22:03:01 | This was about ST vs SW. It wouldn't be fair to bring Firefly into it. Everyone knows Firefly was the best. Of course you mind. It's why you brought it up. No one else cared. It's why no one else brought it up. Also, stop derailing the thread with you complaints. ;) ON TOPIC: Star Wars sucks so hard it can suck the chrome off of a hitchball. ![]() |
| #49jetshieldMay 17, 2012 22:26:18 | This was about ST vs SW. It wouldn't be fair to bring Firefly into it. Everyone knows Firefly was the best. Where the thread started means exactly nothing. At the time of my comment the thread had evolved into a SW vs ST debate. Now this thread is about you complaining about this thread. See how that works? However, as the original poster, I now declare this thread to be about SW vs ST vs BSG vs Firefly/Serenity vs B5 vs whatever-other-shows/movies-fit-the-category. So ![]() ![]() |

| #51Ragnar_LodbrokMay 17, 2012 22:38:33 | Firefly "pwns" more. Sci-fi/Western hybrid. How can you say no? (Other than by being a soulless, inhuman Fox executive.) |

| #53The_SilverswordMay 17, 2012 23:24:18 | Babylon 5 Pwns. Hell yeah, now we're talkin! I loved that show, although it did kinda lose steam after the Shadow Wars thing, ok it lost a lot of steam, they probably should of just ended it there instead of trying to see how long they could drag it out. |
| #54The_SilverswordMay 17, 2012 23:26:48 | Firefly "pwns" more. Sci-fi/Western hybrid. How can you say no? (Other than by being a soulless, inhuman Fox executive.) as far as Sci-Fi/Westerns go I think Oblivion did a better job, seriously if you havnt seen it, check it out. Its fairly campy but that ony adds to its charm I say. |
| #55The_SilverswordMay 17, 2012 23:29:42 | Oh, and one more thing, Ive got to side with the Pirates, that is until I find a cool Ninja Otter pic to use as my Avi. |
