Gabe's enthusiasm is infectuous, and odds are it's making a good number of people who haven't so much as looked at D&D sideways at least think about picking up the PHB and killing some kobolds.

It in fact seems that people are giving it a look. In his news post today, he responds to questions from readers who want to know how to start up their own D&D game. I'm happy to read about his experiences as a D&D neophyte. I think many of us, including me, gradually forget what it was like the first time you experienced something. A while back I set out to watch the original Star Wars trilogy from the perspective of a 6-year-old boy again. I had nearly lost sight of why I loved it to begin with. Just as an example, in the opening scene when the blockade runner flies overhead, it was impressive ... then the star destroyer just blew my mind.
