GOLARION

THE OPERA

-FIRST CANTO-

ASMODEUS IN A DARK PLACE

I am a simple Soul

who wants more from life

than life has to give.

I want to crush the breath

from its broken body.

I want to suck the marrow

From its bones.

I want more from Life.

Is that so wrong?

THE CHORUS OF THE DAMNED

Well Poor bugger me hes all alone

trapped for eternity on an empty throne.

-SECOND CANTO-

ALVAR THE SHEEP HERDER HAS A DREAM

I have a dream,

to sit upon

a distant throne.

I have a dream,

to wench a hundred

Different Gnomes.

I have a dream,

to slaughter me

a thousand foes.

I have a dream.

THE CHORUS OF THE DAMNED

Dreaming while bandits his sheep molest

and he doesnt even have a scarf and vest.

-THIRD CANTO-

ALVAR FINDS THE VILLAGE ABLAZE

What is this?

My Village is burning.

Alarm. Alarm.

My Village is Ablaze.

What is this?

My Village Raised

and Goblins fleeing.

Fleeing the scene

of their misdeeds.

What is this?

My boyhood home...

What is this?

All that I loved

My childhood all

but washed away in

a Tidal wave of flame.

THE CHORUS OF THE DAMNED

Oh sweet retribution for your sins

Well deserved before their time.

Well, I'm not an Opera fan or anything, but I thought it was cool. Kind of makes me long for sblocks, though... Cry

Work in progress...some fools wrote one on Twitter with contributions from over 900 people. I figured I could get a full Opera based on D&D the same way.

Well, I'd help, but, like I said, I don't really know anything about opera... Is there some sort of rythym or something you need to follow? Like how Haikus go 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables? Or Iambic Pentameter?

My Village Raised

Don't you mean "razed"? Also, while I like the idea, isn't this a bit trivial for a piece of opera?

READERS DIGEST/OXFORD COMPLETE WORDFINDER

Raise: (15) To abandon

Raze: To completely destroy/tear down

WEBSTERS NEW INTERNATIONAL DICTIONARY

Raise: (1-E) To cause to ascend as dust or smoke

Raze: to Demolish or utterly Level

I was going with burn it to a smouldering ruin.

As to trivial...wow I was thinking a D&D epic adventure in which the protagonist butchers his way across the world getting exactly what he wants.

-FOURTH CANTO-

THE GOBLINS ESCAPE

Awesome little goblins are we

Having picked through the village midden quietly

and come away with all their forgotten goods.

Tee hee hee, Ha Ha Ha!

I wonder if this is any good?

Oh well its shiny lets take it any how.

Then comes the voice: Hey You!

Goblins! Call out the Guard!

THE CHORUS OF THE DAMNED

Ordinary folk living life on the fringe

Scrounging the waste of the village bins.
