While it sounds stupid, I think you're preaching the same point: the punishment should fit the crime/factors*/...

Yeah. My first thought was "So what. If he didn't want to be in a dirty cell, he shouldn't have done the crime." My second thought was "He'll have the cleanest cell in the prison."

Jail is supposed to be for rehabilitation but that's not the reality. The reality is jail today is supposed to traumatize people into stayin' out of trouble.
