The title says it all. What are some of your crowning achievements while playing DND when the dice weren't involved in a heavy way (aka combat).

I have a few, two characters that I played almost a year ago. Both campaigns tanked around holiday break (one fizzled, one disbanded over certain... issues that I'll get into a little bit later).

The first character was a Silverbrow Human Sorceress/Wizard named Vanessa Zuoden. My plans were to take her down the Ultimate Magus prestige class if we ever got that far. We didn't (I think we hit third level at the end [the DM was running it for a few brand new players]).

However, our first adventure was retrieving a small piece of machinery for a local gnome from a small tribe of kobolds. We reached their camp, and we convinced the guards to take us to their leader. Then through the use of the Prestidigitation spell and a quick fabrication, we ended up getting the machinery for the trade of a simple waterskin. The spell gave the skin a silver sheen and we convinced the kobold leader through a good bluff check that it belonged to a silver dragon and had magical properties. Then we booked it back to the village before the glamor wore off.

That was the first of a few encounters we managed to get out of without any sort of combat. The best part is we still got the full XP for everything.

The second character is one that is still near and dear to the hearts of everyone who were in this campaign. I took a Half-Orc Barbarian and turned him into a character. His name was Forrghk (pronounced like the eating utensil). He used a greatsword that he affectionately named "Pigsticker" (he heard a knife referred to as a pigsticker once and thought that's what bladed weapons were called). In one of our first combat encounters, after the party druid went down in the first round, Forrghk used his barbarian rage, and rolled a critical hit on a giant raptor. Because the DM was using critical hit tables, the result was triple critical damage and Forrghk neatly decapitated the creature. He turned the skull of the creature into a helmet in exchange for some skins of Orcish ale.

This is where it starts getting more fun.

He started taking the heads of the creatures that he killed. He used them as hand puppets. After killing a baby red dragon in one of the most hilarious fight scenes ever (he and the druid were back to back, tied together by rope, being lowered into the belly of a ship and fighting the red dragon), the party found a Handy Haversack. No one in the group objected when Forrghk took it as his puppet bag.

This character was inadvertently the cause of this campaigns disintegration. My role playing further attracted the gal in the game to me. The only problem with this was her current beau was also in the game. She ended up breaking up with him and hooking up with me right before Thanksgiving. We're still together. And that stands as my true greatest moment in role playing. He lost her not because he loved too much, but because I role played too well.

She broke up with her boyfriend to get with you? That's ether hilariously impressive, or extremely sad. I can't say which, I'm stunned.

One I remember off hand, we where attempting to raid a village that had been taken over by some other kingdom. The main goal was to get into the castle. So we attempted to cross the lake. We had control of several random npcs, since it was technically a raiding part. So one player sent one npc named jimmy "we named him because his name was long and confusing" first as a scout to cross the lake to see what was on the other side, as we where discussing our battle plan in front of the lake we hear an explosion about 20 feet in front of us, apparently there where magical runes in the lake. So for then on, his battle cry was FOR JIMMY!

That entire raid was nothing but hilarious failures, like trying to send two rogues to infiltrate a the town, but the other player somehow though following them to the towers was a good idea with all of his men.

Anyway, so its day three, the we where finally able to take out 2 of the towers that surround the city became are, don't ask why we didn't take care of those first. Frustrated, we made our way to the castle, only to find it too has walls. We all discussed how would we get pass that wall, I said lets just go through it, saw that there was another tower near by, and threw it. Yes, I threw a tower with Telekinetics, It might have taken almost all of my power points, but it was worth it.

I have some much shorter, funnier ones, but its late...

Yeah. She was interested in me when she first met me (my then roomie and I performed the Mecha-Shiva from Venture Bros at the first Gamers Club meeting by way of introduction at our college). Forrghk just sealed the deal.

But yes, a gaming pick-up. I think that may be a story we very well tell at our wedding.
