Nah, GSP just knows he isn't going to win against a guy that is 40 lbs heavier and as skilled as Silva. GSP is a smart businessman. Seriously, the guy showed up to press conferences wearing suits even before he was making big money. He isn't going to take a fight with Silva at Silva's weight. And as GSP mentioned in a previous interview, going up in weight to fight Silva and back down in weight to defend his own title is unhealthy and is going to affect his ability to fight.

So why do you hate GSP? Jealousy?

In any case, Silva is probably as smart as GSP. He came out in and interview saying he would fight Jones only out they gave him half the UFC.

Apr 25, 2013 14:25:18 Heh, that's a pretty smart move right there. Him and GSP both have enough money that they don't need to take that kind of damage to make more. Oh, I guess Jones just said he's basically done with 205 after Chael. He says if (ha!) he wins, he's gonna focus on superfights (which won't happen) or the HW division. Look out Cain, there may be a new monster in town!

I don't think there is anyone in MMA or boxing who can keep up a pace like Cain and hit as hard while doing so. Jones may want to stay at 205. I'm not even sure Jones's wrestling is good enough too take Cain down, much less keep him down.

Maybe Jones should ask to fight Cormier at 205 and really test his wrestling.

Jones' wrestling is pretty good. I mean, he made Hamill look like a chump. Sonnen oughtta be a better test, though ... if he can stay awake long enough to attempt a TD.

If Jones really ants to test his wrestling, he should do it against Cormier at 205 Cormier supposedly has good wrestling. The guy was on the U.S. Olympic team. He just has terrible cardo. I don't see his cardio improving much at 205, which is good for Jones since he only has to worry about Cormier for too long. After the second round, Cormier will be significantly slower. Jones would then pick him apart with strikes. Still, he would get a chance to see how good his wresstling actually is. I read an interview where Jones says he wants to prove that his wrestling, wich peaked at the junior college level, was as good as Sonnens, who was a wrestler at the University of Oregon.

Cain is different, though. He has excellent wrestling, ridiculous cardio, and I don't think he will fall for Jones's hand slapping trick. I think that's one of the things that throws off Jones's opponents. He sticks that hand out, andthey automatically want to slap it away. He throws them off with that. Even Rashad said that messed him up and distracted him in their fight. I don't think Cain will fall for that. Cain just goes right at his opponents. He went after Lesnar, who was much bigger than him. He went straight at JDS, who had knocked Cain out the first time they met. There was also this episode of Sports Science, I think it was when Cain was going against Lesner, where they measured Cain's striking power and said he had the hardest punch they had ever measured. Granted, they have a limitted sample, but they had some heavy weight boxers in their sample. Still, that would be something that Jones hasn't faced yet. There is a difference between the power a guy at 205 brings to the fight and a guy at 245+ brings.

It would be interesting to see Jones at heavyweight though. I think his first fight should be against Stephan Struve, the only guy with a reach as long as Jones.

Cain is tough as hell but ya gotta remember that Jones is pretty much as big as Cain is. He's massive for 205. Cain does pose problems, though, cuz he is totally fearless and has a great chin - getting KOd by JDS doesn't mean you've got a glass jaw, yanno? Jones is so versatile, though. It'd be great. Struve, though? It'd be interesting to see Jones deal with the reach but Struve is on another level. Like, a worse one. If Big Country can kick his ass, Jones may well kill him, heh.

Reach is measure by measuring the distance a fight can punch. Kicks are ignored. Struve is a freaking tower. That guys legs are ridiculously long.
