| #2lokiareJun 10, 2011 4:44:12 | I like how they are all getting publicised by the big six (which control the media) right before a bill to censor the internet is coming up to be passed "PROTECT IP" is its nickname... very convenient... Then of course china is acussing the U.S. government of hacking itself when we blamed china... that was funny too... How much of your liberties will you give up for security? |
| #3pluisjenJun 10, 2011 4:51:50 | What does hacking personal data have to do with protecting intellectual property? |
| #4lokiareJun 10, 2011 4:55:59 | What does hacking personal data have to do with protecting intellectual property? fear The idea is they can scare up enough support they can pass the law and then the government without trial or without investigation will simply block any site that a company reports as having IP infringement. Some company doesn't like Youtube, bam its banned. Some company doesn't like www.activistpost.com, bam its banned. The idea is to get you to agree to give up the freedoms you enjoy for 'security'. I think Benjamin Franklin said it best "He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither." |
| #5pluisjenJun 10, 2011 5:03:12 | But the two things are not related. It's like starting a scare about peanut butter causing cancer so that you can pass a law that limits the number of dogs someone can own. This law would not actually protect people's personal data. Only intellectual property. |
| #6EscherEnigmaJun 10, 2011 12:17:06 | It's like starting a scare about peanut butter causing cancer so that you can pass a law that limits the number of dogs someone can own. Or starting a scare about gays raiding elementary schools for new recruits to stop [any and all LGBT equality legislation]. It doesn't matter if it makes sense, it often works. |

| #8pluisjenJun 10, 2011 13:44:02 | It doesn't matter if it makes sense, it often works. Oh right, the "people are stupid" part of the equation. I forgot. |
