I was watching some classic horror movies and was wondering what would these silver screen villains would be like in D&D (race, stats, special power parameters). They would make for some crazy Halloween based games! I am not an expert on these characters and I’m not even a huge fan of the horror genre so if there is something important I miss then please note it. Also please add any other horror movie villain you would like to see made into a D&D character/monster.

Freddy Krueger

Background- The son of a hundred maniacs, he had a predictably disturbing childhood. He then became the Springwood Slasher using a number of homemade implements to take revenge on those who tormented him in school. Later his daughter uncovers the truth and turns him in which forces her to live in a foster home. It is then that he begins targeting their children which leads to a lynch mob from Elm Street burning him alive. The deal is sealed when the evil dream gate keepers give him the power to bodily enter dreams.

Powers-

  • He can enter the dreams of others.

  • Any damage he causes in a dream causes real life injury and death.

  • He draws power from those he terrorizes.

  • Consumes the souls of those that he kills.

  • Gradually takes complete control of a victim’s dreams.

  • His favored weapon, a clawed glove, can attack on its own (Dancing).

  • He can exit and enter dreams of those who sleep.

  • He is largely immune to physical damage within dreams.

  • He usually can’t be beaten until some ritual is performed.

  • Is continually reborn from the fears of the next generation.

  • He can temporarily reanimate his bones (like a Lich).

  • He is connected to an area significant to his life (as a ghost haunting).

  • He is connected to his earthly remains (like a ghost in Supernatural).

Jason Voorhees

Background- As a child with deformities he was mocked and ridiculed by the other children. For some reason his mother decides that he should spend time at a summer camp with these evil children. The camp counselors were ‘indisposed’ when the other children got especially violent and they ended up drowning the poor kid. Now he comes back every time someone trespasses on the grounds of his final resting place. (I know much less about Jason than Freddy).

Powers-

  • He is bound to the area of his mortal death (like a ghost).

  • He is bound to the hockey mask and machete (why?)

  • The machete cuts through almost barrier (sharpness, ignore hardness)

  • He became physically mature after death (?).

  • He tracks his victims perfectly.

  • He continues at same pass no matter terrain (ignore terrain).

  • He regenerates damage very quickly.

  • Trespasses awaken him.

I would say that Edward Cullens affect on the female population would make him an abberation, but he does technically fall in the undead/ vampire subtype.

Is there anything supernatural about micheal myers? I think he's just a psycho.

If you're still talking about myers I would say he's just a crazy person. Psychotics use all the strength of their body like someone on an aderaneline high. I actually would say that he's just using your average kitchen knife, so be afraid, very afraid.

I would say Freddy is an abberition, sort of like a phantasmal killer. Since he can completely change himself to best his victim it's hard to put stats to him, or even a set amount of hit dice.

Jason I would say is like a true living dead (since he grew up post mortem), or an infernal spirit inhabiting a dead body which would make him more super natural. The only other thing I can think of would be some sort of flesh golem which would make him exremely resiliant especially against civis.

Here's an exerpt of my Modern horror game:

Example A - Not scary
Me: The murderer rises from the flames, his melted and charred skin crack and ooze congealed blood that dripped and turns into steam. The smell of blood -
PCs: I hit him with a (insert spell here).
(They kill him eventually.)

Example B - Kinda scary
Me: From the seal of Azathoth rises a cloaked being; underneath its dull black mantle you see naught but a sort of ethereal mist-
PCs: I throw (insert spell of choce here) at it.
Me: That overworldly being laughs madly as you try to strike it. Roll initiative. Before the round starts everyone gains 1d4 Madness.
PC 1: Sanity check?
Me: None.
PC 2: I vote run.

Do not stat out the monster if you want it to be scary, and if you do make sure the players know that it is severly weakened.
