Those of us old enough remember the endless hours of pixels and 3 colors on the screen. Didn't matter. It was a game on your tv. I have since moved away from console gaming to PC, but I will never consider all that time spent playing River Raid a waste.
To this day, I still consider Pitall II one of the hardest games I've ever played.I never actually had an Atari 2600, I had the Colecovision with the 2600 adapter, best of both worlds! Except that it didnt share the same joyport, so if you wanted to play some 2600 you had to unplug the controllers and replug them into the adapters port, eventually unpluging and repluging those joysticks would wear em out, thats what she said! Haha.
Still have mine... Or, at least, I have a large mass of electrical tape, switches and wires shaped like a 2600 that thinks it's a 2600 and plays 2600 games, lol.
I busted the joysticks off soo many controllers... Yars Revenge (I once played a single game for eight straight hours - when my mother "accidentally" turned the light switch off and killed the game I had twenty-six lives and had turned the score over at least five times), Frostbite (I was so fast on the stick the game couldn't keep up with me) and Chopper Command were my big ones - I'd get going so fast that sooner or later I'd just accidentally rip the stick right out.
One year for my birthday, my cousin in NYC paid $50 for Missile Command and sent it to me because you couldn't even find it around here...
