So, I'm going to graduate school to get my MBA right now. For my accounting class, we have to analyze two competing companies. Being the D&D fan I am, I thought it'd be fun to analyze Hasbro and Mattel...

So yeah, I've been writing a report based off Hasbro's AR's for the past 6 hours, and I just want to say Hasbro has some real Int 3 jokers running some things.

/sigh. This is torture. Came here to vent a bit. Have a nice day.

In what way? I know they reported a decline in sales or something but with a bit of initiative that could be turned around - I always thought they might finance ($1,000,000) an Animated Film every year remaking the Golden age of Scifi (The Tunnel, Metropolis, ect...).

You'll have that in the bussiness world. Best just get used to it now....

See, the problem is, nobody likes to hear bad projections.
And realistic projections are always worse than bat-f**k crazy projections.
As a result, even the BEST realistic bussiness plan or projection SOUNDS aweful.

The only way to get funding or a loan is to give a projection that a mentally defective 6 year old could see is total pie in the sky bs, and give it convincingly with total assurance.
And the only people who can do that are utter morons, because they truely believe that they can bring a start-up computer company from three guys with pentium 1's up past Microsoft in the market in five years. Or three with luck.

And they have to be narcissitic enough to be absolutely convince that it's someone elses fault when it fails.

So, the only people who get hired as CEO's, the only people who get promoted to VP and then President, the only people who get a 3 million dollar blank check to start up a bussiness, are those peole who are stupid enough to believe their own absurd lies, vain enough to believe they can never screw up, and sociopathic enough to ruin the lives of a hundred thousand people just to prove they can.

As a result, the people making the decisions at the top of any large corporate structure are effectively Charles Manson and John Wayne Gacy with sever head trauma.

And that's why annual reports look like that.

Also, I believe all Legalese documents/releases/press releases should be worded in a way so that even a stereotypical blonde surfer Dude from Cali could understand it. Anytime I hear/read legalese, not only can I understand it (immediately making me angry that they're so full of crap 90% of the time), I also feel like they must be lying out their asses, because if they weren't, why the Hell would they need to fall back on something so incredibly vague and exploitable as Legalese??

It's not legalese. It is accounting-speak. And the kind you should be able to understand after one class (or through practical experience).
Some of their rationalizations are real head scratchers, though. Like... apparently they don't feel they need to deduct operating expenses from their income statement? I must be missing something. Maybe it is added in by being added somewhere else to another expense that is in there. I don't know. Alot of **** like that which made writing an analysis real hard for a business newb like me. It took me 5 hours to get the same info from Hasbro's AR that took me 1 to get from Mattel's.

Anyways, I've been up for 38 hours now, thanks in part to that stupid thing, so off to bed. Good to know people actually read my random posts though, hahahah....
