I made a mistake in the words of the title.

And I asked non-muggles.

Well, I had to ask my kids what a muggle was.

Ahh but you mean crossfit? No never tried it, sounds like a bunch of BS some guy came up with to make money.

No, this is not like pimping RH's wife. Assuming money could be made off her.

Well have you?

I know a few people that own crossfit studios. There is a lot of yelling and sweating. I've seen people lose a lot of weight. I've also seen people get hurt. Are you thinking of doing it? You mentioned your knees were bad. If they are, it wouldn't be a good idea.

Well I'd be curious to know what it entails first. Then I'll see if it the sort of thing for me.

Yeah, I know some peeps what do it and the word I've heard most often is 'brutal'.  Bad knees would seem to make cross fit a huge no-no.  Just hop on the elliptical with all the other old women and settle in, champ.

It's hot yoga that I do, and why is hanging out with girls bad? You'd like spider-man to shoot some webbing at you?

You can do it with bad knees. The key to crossfit is good form. Some of those exercises can really screw you up if you don't know what you're doing but then again that applies to working out in general.

Well I'd be curious to know what it entails first. Then I'll see if it the sort of thing for me.

It incorporates a lot of exercises that utilize multiple muscle groups. The idea is to get your entire body to work together instead of just training a muscle in isolation. It's really brutal at first but after a few weeks you'll get used to it. It will really help your endurance and it has the benefit of counting as lifting and cardio all in one session.

It's not really what I'd recommend if you're just trying to pile on muscle and get huge but it's good for getting in shape. I mix it in with traditional workouts.

I want to improve my cardio and endurance while cutting until I reach about 150 pounds. After that maybe I'll pile on muscle. BEEFCAKE!

You think that having CR on your side in a sexual debate makes your position more solid?

I have some friends who do this kind of thing, and I am thinking that some of them are probably quite beneficial.

Not really my cup of tea, mainly because of the yelling.  A did a race where one of the crossfit camps posted itself along the race route, and the adrenaline crazed instructor was leaping around yelling and giving high fives.  Supporters are awesome, but this chick was just advertising herself and being hell annoying.  I have to admit, I wanted to high five her in the face.

Got a beginner's program somewhere?

There are some places that offer beginner crossfit classes. Just look to see if there's a crossfit gym near you. Some people like to be in a group to push each other but once you learn the proper forms for all the exercises, you can pretty much do it on your own, and there's not a lot of equipment that you need. There are websites that post WODs that you can follow or you can just make up your own. It's really simple stuff.

There usually aren't classes that are beginner classes in terms of intensity, just ones for teaching you the exercises. Crossfit is pretty much done at your own pace. You get out of it whatever you put into it.

I'm not a group kind a guy. You need to grow a mustache, get cheezy bed sheets, etc. Plus I'm already a member of yoga club and a gym full of douches. I won't spend more money on more douches.

I guess I'll try to find WODs. Ummm... What are those? Do I have to google it?

How do you know that? Eating Big Macs ain't a work out. Or is it?

Anyway, checked a few sites and work outs. I'll go body row, push ups, v sit-ups and squats.

That's an easy one to start with. Just remember that there's no breaks. You keep going until the time is up (if you're doing it for time), you hit all your sets (if you're going for sets), or you collapse from exhaustion.
