| #2Ragnar_LodbrokMar 20, 2011 23:15:19 | Why did the MMA people attack that poor man trying to feed his family without provocation instead of trying to change the system? They should be brought up for assault! ![]() On a more serious note, good for them. Nice to see some people who don't just assume that someone else will handle a situation. |
| #3MechaPilotMar 20, 2011 23:19:15 | So much violence in the world. /wipes tear At least there was a pretty waterfall in the story. |
| #4homicidal_squirrelMar 20, 2011 23:22:29 | And 7 hours later he beat up another guy and took his belt. |
| #5homicidal_squirrelMar 21, 2011 0:02:05 | So much violence in the world. /wipes tear I agree. What did that poor car window ever do to anyone? |
| #6QubeMar 21, 2011 2:11:15 | Cool story. I'll bet that thief never saw that comming ![]() DM: Ok, you guys are robbing the store. when you guys exit, you see a *rolls* black belt Mixed Martial Artist Champion Players: Wikileaks Task Force?(just sucks that they don't show the UFC anymore where I live...) In my opinion, it's a shame the MMA guy didn't inflict more damage to the thief. IMO, unneccecairy violance is never a good thing. |
| #7pluisjenMar 21, 2011 6:21:43 | IMO, unneccecairy violance is never a good thing. I agree here This story is a good one because someone caught a thief instead of being a bystander, without unnecessary violence. The guy's just stealing a radio, he's not a cold-blooded murderer. He can get his punishment in jail, not from some random bystander. |
| #8homicidal_squirrelMar 21, 2011 6:43:43 | Yup...
Qube, why don’t they show the UFC where you are at?
|
| #9QubeMar 21, 2011 9:09:28 | Qube, why don’t they show the UFC where you are at? the channel that aired them when bancrupt last ... month I think ![]() He could have, yanno, just subdued him with a touch more force while true, it's possible (I don't know) that they may only take part with the UFC if their record is clear for a certain time |
| #10homicidal_squirrelMar 21, 2011 10:08:03 | Qube, why don’t they show the UFC where you are at? That sucks. At least you can always watch the fights on the internet. He could have, yanno, just subdued him with a touch more force There are plenty of fighters in the UFC and other MMA promotions that have criminal records (although jon jones seems like a pretty good guy). I think it has more to do with his trainers not wanting him to get injured right before he is scheduled to fight for the Light Heavyweight belt. |
| #11zombie_babiesMar 21, 2011 10:36:02 | Jon Jones is a Class A asskicker. For reals. I'm glad he won. He's fun to watch. Anyhoo, the thief is lucky that Jones is still a decent guy, too. For those that don't understand, this was also just a bit beyond a bystander helping out. He could have been hurt or worse and he was just about to participate in the most significant day of his career. Something as small as a cut could have prevented him from being able to fight that night. He went after the guy anyway - even when two other people already did. That, to me, says something about his character. He had more reasons than most not to do it. Good on 'im, I say. |

| #13zombie_babiesMar 21, 2011 11:52:03 | Yup. His fights are always fun to watch. he throws the weirdest strikes and makes it look easy. His training started with youtube emulation. Jones would win, but it would be fun to watch him shut Jackson up. Yeah, he seems really level headed. I can't wait 'til he whups Rashad's ass. I mean, Rashad doesn't seem that bad but he's an ass during fights and he totally mailed it in against 'Page. I really can't think of anyone in that division that can handle Jones at this point, either. |
| #14homicidal_squirrelMar 21, 2011 12:04:05 | Yeah, he seems really level headed. I can't wait 'til he whups Rashad's ass. I mean, Rashad doesn't seem that bad but he's an ass during fights and he totally mailed it in against 'Page. I really can't think of anyone in that division that can handle Jones at this point, either. That is going to be an interesting fight. I'm sure Jones would win, but it may actually be a better fight than Jones VS Jackson. Rashad is pretty active in his fights. He moves around a lot and has pretty good cardio. Jackson wasn't able to do much against Rashad in their fight. He got a few good hits, but I think he got lucky when Rashad slipped. With Jones though, Rashad is going to be fighting someone who is just as fast, if not faster, and can strike. And yeah, I totally agree... there is no one in that division that can take Jon Jones. That guy is a beast. I know people are saying that there should be a fight with Jones and Anderson Silva, but I'm not sure even Silva can handle Jones. |
| #15zombie_babiesMar 21, 2011 12:19:52 | With the way Sonnen controlled him and how good a wrestler Jones is - and with Jones being at 205 full time - I don't think he could, either. Silva, though, has said he's happy at 185 now and doesn't wanna move. With no real threat to his gravy train, ya can't really blame him. I think Rashad is a good fighter but his real strength is wrestling and I think Jones is better there. Rashad tried that stand up stuff with Machida and got his ass clowned. He went back to wrestling after that but I can't see him being good enough to put Jones on his back enough to win. And you don't want Jones on top (just ask Vera's eye socket). Standing? Jones will murder him. Still, it has potential to be a good one. |

Silva, though, has said he's happy at 185 now and doesn't wanna move. With no real threat to his gravy train, ya can't really blame him. Very true. It would be a pretty bad beat-down for Silva if he did decide to fight Jones. Sonnen showed everyone that a good wrestler could basically do whatever they want to Silva. I read somewhere that Sonnen hit Silva more times in their fight than Silva has been hit in all his UFC fights. Lets face it, Sonnen is good, but he is no where near the striker that Jones is. If Jones got Silva down, it would probably be over in the first round. This time Silva's head would be swollen from from punches. Like, for real out, too. And Machida, while good, just doesn't have Jones level power. The guy's the real deal and he's good for the sport. Hopefully he'll be kickin' ass for a long time. And hopefully he won't turn into an idiot or get popped for PEDs. |

Yeah. Shogun is out indefinitely pending the results of a CT scan after the beat-down Jones gave him to take his belt. I like Shogun, but I knew he was outmatched by Jones. Not only is he incredibly strong, he is ridiculously fast. I’m hoping he doesn’t become a jerk like Silva ended up being, or getting caught for PEDs like Sonnen. Besides, Sonnen has a bunch of other problems. He is involved in some kind of real-estate scam and if I remember correctly, he will be spending some time in jail for it.

Machida is good, but he does not have the power that Jones has. That kid is a beast. Not only is he incredibly strong, he is ridiculously fast. I like Machida but he seems to have lost a lot after Shogun beat him up twice. Just not the same guy anymore. But yeah, Machida's no Jones and Rashad couldn't handle The Dragon so ... Yeah, Sonnen's a bad dood. As in a real disreputable chap. And hopefully Jones won't let his head get too big like Silva did. Though we do need to thank Sonnen for beating the crap out of Silva for 24 minutes. It seems that woke the Spider up cuz he destroyed Belfort. ![]() |
| #20homicidal_squirrelMar 21, 2011 13:22:05 | The only advantage Shogun had was that he'd been there before. Against a guy as collected as Jones that just isn't enough. Yup. The guy is as cool and collected as they are. He took out a criminal in the morning then took out Shogun at night. Afterwards he delivred a baby and put out a 5 alarm fire without breaking a sweat. I like Machida but he seems to have lost a lot after Shogun beat him up twice. Just not the same guy anymore. But yeah, Machida's no Jones and Rashad couldn't handle The Dragon so ... Seriously... that fight between Machida and Jackson was horrible. Machida should have been able to beat Jackson. He seems to have lost his confidence. Yeah, Sonnen's a bad dood. As in a real disreputable chap. The one thing I did like about Sonnen, besides his abuse of Silva, was the smak-talk. That guy can talk some trash with the best of them. His pre-fight interviews were quite entertaining. I was hoping that Belfort would knockout Silva, but I knew it was a long shot. Did you see the post fight interview with Steven segal where he says he taught Silva the front kick? From the front kick wiki:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Front_kick The modern incarnation of the front kick was perfected by Steven Seagal, who was taught a primitive version circa 1970 in Japan. The exact date is unknown. He secretly developed the technique over several decades before teaching it to UFC Middleweight champion Anderson 'The Spider' Silva, who used it with devastating effect, knocking out Vitor Belfort in a title defence at UFC 126.[1] Silva gave credit to Seagalafter his bout at UFC 126 during the post fight interview, saying that Seagal helped him perfect the kick and they were practicing it in the change rooms before the fight.[1] |

Seriously, Iole can get kinda annoying with his writing. Seriously... that fight between Machida and Jackson was horrible. Machida should have been able to beat Jackson. He seems to have lost his confidence. Yeah, with so many people talking about how unbeatable you are, though, it can be kinda easy to lose sight of reality. I think it's the camp. Machida is Black House, too, right? Something about that place creates big heads. The one thing I did like about Sonnen, besides his abuse of Silva, was the smak-talk. That guy can talk some trash with the best of them. His pre-fight interviews were quite entertaining. Yeah, Sonnen can talk. Funny stuff, too. Just a dick. I read that about Seagal saying that or whatever. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt he's in-****ing-sane. I teach kids TKD and on their first day I will teach them front kick. Seriously. It's not some shadowy mystical thing and Silva didn't use some never before seen version. It's just uncommon in fights because you chance obliterating your toes when you throw it. One elbow dropped and you're done walking on that foot for a while. Incidentally, it's rarity is one of the reasons it worked. People just aren't used to it and, if they are, it's typically thrown (in MMA) to the body to get some space. More push than kick. But yeah, Seagal has an even bigger ego than Silva, apparently. I can believe he worked on it with him, but to honestly think it's something special (aside from good game planning) is nutso. |
| #22homicidal_squirrelMar 21, 2011 14:05:11 | I heard he also solved the economic crisis and balanced the budget. Machida is Black House, too, right? Something about that place creates big heads. I think he is. Yeah, that place creates these fighters that end up thinking they are the end all be all of fighting. I'd like to see the GSP VS Silva fiht. That should be interesting. From what I hear, they are going to be meeting at a catch-weight of around 177 or so. GSP has some crazy wrestling/Jujitsu. If he can take down Silva, it is going to be another fight like the Sonnen fight. Yeah, Sonnen can talk. Funny stuff, too. Just a dick. I like to think of Steven Seagal as a corrupt version of Buddha. He has grown fat and round by being filled with his own BS

And GSP has no chin. Serra took him out so now he lays and prays to avoid havin' it happen again. Don't get me wrong, GSP is a great fighter but he's a great 170 lb fighter and that's that. If someone like Matt Serra (who also fought at lightweight) can knock you out, what do you think Silva will do to your glass jaw? GSP is a bigger 170, sure, but Silva crushes people at 205. It's the wrong direction to move if you're his opponent, IMO. Bad fight for GSP. And, if GSP does well, it'll be a terrible fight for the fans. Lay and pray with no damage at all. He couldn't hurt Dan Hardy when he rode him for 25 minutes. Couldn't sub him, either. Silva is much, much better than that. It's just a 'meh' fight to me. Either GSP's utter destruction or a bore fest. I like to think of Steven Seagal as a corrupt version of Buddha. He has grown fat and round by being filled with his own BS That he has. Thing is, by all accounts I've seen he is quite the accomplished martial artist. People seem to think he's the real deal. 'Course his martial art has very limited MMA application as it's very focused on small joint manipulation, but there's some stuff he can teach. Still, he's obviously lost his mind. |

Either GSP's utter destruction or a bore fest. I'm going to disagree. Silva is good at 185. From what I hear, he walks around arount 210-215 lbs. If he went down ot 177 lbs he may be a bit weaker. It's only about 10 lbs that he would be dropping from his regular fighting weight, but those few pounds could leave him weak. Look at Shields. He dropped down to get a shot at GSP and he almost lost to Kampmann. GSP has some amazing trainers. And whomever his chem guy is is doing an amazing job. In the ast few fights he has been looking huge for 170 lbs. I admit that Serra is nowhere near the level of striking that Silva is at, but Silva would still have to land a good strike on GSP. I think Silva would have a harder time with GSP than he did with Sonnen because GSP stays extremely active in the guard. He strike with fists, elbows, and even his freaking shoulder. Once GSP took Silva down, it would be a long round of Silva getting the same treatment he got from Sonnen with the exception that he isn't going to catch GSP in a triangle choke so easily. That he has. Thing is, by all accounts I've seen he is quite the accomplished martial artist. People seem to think he's the real deal. 'Course his martial art has very limited MMA application as it's very focused on small joint manipulation, but there's some stuff he can teach. Still, he's obviously lost his mind. He is apperantly a pretty good marksman as well. He had a show called Lawman where he was riding along with some town's cops and he was doing some marksmanship training with them. He isn't bad. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfztQ5c5UMw He has some skills, but I think he started to believe his movie hype too much. |

He's a true fighter and damned talented so he has a chance. My problem, as stated, is that if he does manage to win it will be in lay n' pray fashion. I don't wanna see that. Nobody does except die hard wrestling fans and there's a reason their sport gets no TV love. ;) GSP is the real deal. As you said, his trainers are top notch, his work ethic is amazing and he's a pure talent, too. I just don't see him beating Silva, though. He's got one weapon and if he can't use it it's over. That said, he's also really, really good with that weapon ... against guys of similar size. ;) He is apperantly a pretty good marksman as well. He had a show called Lawman where he was riding along with some town's cops and he was doing some marksmanship training with them. He isn't bad. Yep, the fame done brokeded his bwainz. |
| #26homicidal_squirrelMar 21, 2011 16:00:08 | You're not alone in your disagreement. A lot of people think GSP can win. I'm just not one of 'em. I think that goes for both GSP and Silva. GSP is an excellent grappler and Silva is an excellent striker. GSP isn't much of a striker, and as Sonnen showed, Silva's grappling ability is lacking. I think a lot of these MMA guys are like that. There aren't many who are well rounded fighters like Jon Jones. That's one of the things that makes him such a good fighter. |

| #33homicidal_squirrelMar 22, 2011 8:38:08 | If you thought that was violent, you'll really hate THIS. I mean seriously... did he really need to do that? He was probably thinking "this guy is jumping off the fence. What's the worst he coul do?" How often do you see that being done in a fight? A movie, maybe. In a fight though... |
| #34zombie_babiesMar 22, 2011 8:46:53 | I think that goes for both GSP and Silva. GSP is an excellent grappler and Silva is an excellent striker. GSP isn't much of a striker, and as Sonnen showed, Silva's grappling ability is lacking. Silva is a BJJ black belt, too. He just never needs to use it. That said, nobody seems to be as well rounded as Jones. I wonder if there will be some flaw eventually exposed. I mean, Machida was believed to be invincible until Rua's camp figured him out. Still, Machida is no Jon Jones. If you thought that was violent, you'll really hate THIS. I mean seriously... did he really need to do that? Yes! The coolest MMA KO ever! Oh, there was this double KO once that was pretty sweet, too, but that was cuz it was funny. That off the cage kick was amazing. |

I don’t know… Silva definitely needed to use it against Sonnen. Sonnen basically pummeled Silva for four and a half rounds. If it wasn’t for Sonnen having bad submission defense (he as been submitted the same way several times), he would have won the fight. Even in the Henderson fight, Silva was outclassed easily. If it hadn’t been for Henderson trying to strike with him, he could have wrestled his way to the win. Too many of these fighters think they have to beat Silva at the striking game to make a point. It is going to require an amazing striker to take Silva out that way. Machida was a pretty good fighter though. His whole thing was avoiding any strikes and take downs. The reason so many people had problems with him is because they would not throw many kicks at his legs. That’s what Shogun did in the first fight. He basically took his legs out and neutralized Machida’s ability to move away. Very few guys actually use kicks to take out their opponent’s legs. The second fight ended badly (and quickly) for Machida because he got into a striking match with Shogun who has very high level Muay Thai skills. Yes! The coolest MMA KO ever! Oh, there was this double KO once that was pretty sweet, too, but that was cuz it was funny. That off the cage kick was amazing. Yeah, this is going to be in highlight reels forever. It was like something out of a movie. I’ll be honest, I didn’t know who Anthony Pettis was before this, but I’m a fan now.

But you're right, it seems fighters are hypnotized by his myth or something. Stupid gameplans abound when it comes to facing Silva. From Maia just flopping around hoping to lure him into a grappling match to Griffin running at him full bore. It's like they're too scared to think. After Sonnen, you'd think that would change but then he goes out and annihilates Belfort. I don't know that we've ever seen the real Silva fight. I think his fights are too influenced by the crappiness of the plans his opponents employ. It makes him look better. Not that he's not good - he's fast, strong and slippery. I just don't think he's as good as, say, Irvin made him look. Machida was a pretty good fighter though. His whole thing was avoiding any strikes and take downs. You know, how that one guy can always beat the super awesome guy no matter what. But I dunno now. And it's not like I'd pick Machida over Jones or anything insane, either. Yeah, this is going to be in highlight reels forever. It was like something out of a movie. I’ll be honest, I didn’t know who Anthony Pettis was before this, but I’m a fan now. I didn't either, as a matter of fact. I vaguely recall everyone picking Henderson to win, too. Oh well, that guy's left a mark for a long time. Just too damned cool. |
| #37homicidal_squirrelMar 22, 2011 10:18:24 | Yeah, I should have said he hardly ever has to use it, heh. Definitly. Irvin made Silva look like a complete wrecking machine. As for Belfort… Belfort is a good striker, but he doesn’t have all the weapons that Silva does. Belfort has amazing hands, but that’s about as far as his striking goes. He doesn’t kick much. I may be wrong, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard of Belfort knocking anyone out with a kick. Silva just had too many striking options. Asides from that, Silva has a greater reach then Belfort. And with those kicks, his reach is even greater. Jones (6’4”) on the other hand is taller than Silva (6’2”), and he has a bigger reach. Jones has a reach of 84.5 in, and Silva has a reach of 77.6 in. That is a pretty big reach advantage for Jones. And with his superb speed, he is one dangerous mother er.
Machida can be good again if he gets it into his head he can. I think, for whatever reason, Rua may just have been a bad match up for him or something. You know, how that one guy can always beat the super awesome guy no matter what. But I dunno now. And it's not like I'd pick Machida over Jones or anything insane, either. I think Shogun was able to beat him because Shogun adapted his fight plan to take out the advantages that Machida had. Machida wasn’t able to adapt to Shogun’s style. Machida is still a great fighter. He just needs to get his confidence back. I think he should have been able to win against Rampage in the same fashion he won against Rashad. I think it was getting knocked out by Shogun that made him over-cautious in the rampage fight. Rampage is one of those guys that has real knockout power, but he wasn’t able to do much to Machida. He won the fight, but it wasn’t anything worth paying for the pay per view for. I didn't either, as a matter of fact. I vaguely recall everyone picking Henderson to win, too. Oh well, that guy's left a mark for a long time. Just too damned cool. He was supposed to take on the winner of the Frankie Edgar VS Gray Maynard fight, but because it was a draw, Pettis is going to have to wait until Edgar VS Maynard 3 to see who he takes on. He is going to fight Clay Guida though. That should be an interesting fight. Guida is another one of those guys that has cardio to last the entire fight, and he keeps up a fast fight pace. Also, Guida wears toe-shoes, which means he is a badass.

And Belfort also suffers from the 'fails to fully apply himself' bug that ruins a lot of people. He likely took that fight very seriously, but he's also kinda old for an MMA guy not named Couture. ;) I think Shogun was able to beat him because Shogun adapted his fight plan to take out the advantages that Machida had. Rampage is one of those guys that has real knockout power, but he wasn’t able to do much to Machida. He won the fight, but it wasn’t anything worth paying for the pay per view for. Rua had a good game plan and it's something that's pretty easily duplicated. We'll have to see what Black House can come up with to counter the counter. If a guy is gonna dodge and counter, you run him over. Overwhelm with speed and combinations and take the counter strike away. Otherwise you play his game and allow him to sit on you until you **** up. Thing is, it's dangerous because you can get caught or, more likely, you could fail to take him out and gas yourself way early. At the least cahrging him and staying on him for a while will make him uncomfortable and that's when people make mistakes. Good plan for a few types of fighter, actually. Didn't 'Page say he felt Machida won? Like, kicked his ass, too? I thought I read that. I know he lost on the cards but 'Page was sufficiently impressed as to offer a rematch. I dunno about him, though. I think he's another guy we didn't get to see here until he was past his prime. Sucks for him. I think he could beat Frankie but I also thought Penn would destroy him. Twice. He's like a mini Machida in the way he frustrates and annoys people by just not being where he's supposed to be. He's good. Guida, though, is more of a gatekeeper, IMO. He just can't put it together consistantly enough. That said, he's one of the most exciting fighters there is and always puts on a good show. That fight with Sanchez was awesome. You know... after thinking about it... I'd like to see Jone Jones VS Sonnen. Meh, I dunno. Sonnen really is a one trick poney and that trick happens to be the only trick Jones really spent time working on before he started MMA. Hmm ... maybe I'm too high on Jones or something, heh. |
| #40homicidal_squirrelMar 22, 2011 12:23:45 | True. And Belfort also suffers from the 'fails to fully apply himself' bug that ruins a lot of people. He likely took that fight very seriously, but he's also kinda old for an MMA guy not named Couture. ;) Dude… Couture is on a whole different level. I saw some Sport Science show where they tested his endurance and apparently the guy at his age is in ridiculous shape. They said that he was in the same shape as some 20-something elite athletes. That guy is a machine. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkfiTJoCDxU Yeah, Jones is a bad dood and I think he'd be more than a match for Silva. I can't think of one person Silva's faced with the power that Jones has. Trouble is that fight probably won't happen. Oh well. I don’t know… After his beat-down of Shogun, there has been a lot of talk about Jones VS Silva. Danna White said that right after the match he had about 75 people ask him about a Jones VS Silva fight. And you know Jones would be in there without a problem Didn't 'Page say he felt Machida won? Like, kicked his ass, too? I thought I read that. I know he lost on the cards but 'Page was sufficiently impressed as to offer a rematch. I dunno about him, though. I think he's another guy we didn't get to see here until he was past his prime. Yeah, Rampage said he felt like he lost because he thought he would be able to dominate and knockout Machida. I think it was more about feeling as if he didn’t perform. It was a pretty close match. Neither one did anything special. Yes, but I want to see Jones Vs Sonnen to see someone shut Sonnen up good. |

Danna White said that right after the match he had about 75 people ask him about a Jones VS Silva fight. And you know Jones would be in there without a problem From what I remember reading, Jones wouldn't be the problem. Ed Soares is sayin' his boy Silva is suddenly very happy at 185 and has no plans to move. 'Course, that could all change with a sufficient cut of the pay per view backend. ;) Remember, Evans swore he'd never fight a teammate and he's next on Jones' list of people to destroy now. Yeah, Rampage said he felt like he lost because he thought he would be able to dominate and knockout Machida. I think it was more about feeling as if he didn’t perform. It was a pretty close match. Neither one did anything special. Yeah, I heard it was a real snoozer. Yeah, Guida is one entertaining fighter. He just has trouble getting to that next level. It sucks, too, cuz he's a guy you really want to win. Great heart, great style - just missing ... something. Not hair, but something. Yes, but I want to see Jones Vs Sonnen to see someone shut Sonnen up good. Heh, well I think that's exactly what would happen. 'Course we also thought Silva was gonna do exactly that, too. That's why they fight the fights I guess. |
| #42homicidal_squirrelMar 22, 2011 13:06:19 | Yeah, he's an anomaly, that's for sure. A rare human. He may be a cyborg. From what I remember reading, Jones wouldn't be the problem. Funny, I get the feeling that Silva s probably afraid to take on a guy like Jones. When he was fighting Sonnen, Silva was pretty quiet also. Even when Sonnen went on his trash talking tour, Silva just smiled and acted all nice. With everyone else he starts talking trash. I get the feeling he was also afraid of Sonnen. Hopefully Danna White forces him to move to another weight class. Yeah, I heard it was a real snoozer. Made me glad I never waste money on the paper views. I usually see the fights online the day after. It sucks, too, cuz he's a guy you really want to win. Great heart, great style - just missing ... something. Not hair, but something. Definitely. If it was about the hair, that guy could be the heavy-weight champion. That hair alone could take on GSP, Silva, and Cain Velazquez… at the same time!!! Heh, well I think that's exactly what would happen. 'Course we also thought Silva was gonna do exactly that, too. That's why they fight the fights I guess. That’s true, but I have more faith in Jones and his wrestling ability. Look at the fight with Bader. Everyone thought Bader had better wrestling, and he got submitted.

Yeah, he whines about lack of competition and suddenly when there's a match that would be awesome he's happy where he is. He's the guy that wanted to jump to 205 back and forth and now he doesn't. Fishy. Made me glad I never waste money on the paper views. I usually see the fights online the day after. I don't pay to see the stuff. I mostly read about it and catch what I can whenever. That’s true, but I have more faith in Jones and his wrestling ability. Look at the fight with Bader. Everyone thought Bader had better wrestling, and he got submitted. I thought Jones had the better wrestling based on how he utterly destroyed Hamil at it. But yeah, Bader's no slouch when it comes to wrestlin'. I think Jones would annihilate Sonnen but it's a fight so there's always the 'anything is possible' stuff. |
| #44homicidal_squirrelMar 22, 2011 13:23:00 | Jones was definitely the better wrestler, but everyone thought that Bader was the better wrestler before the fight. What do you think of Lesnar VS Dos Santos? I'm thinking it will end up like Lesnar VS Cain with Dos Santos knocking out Lesnar. |
| #45zombie_babiesMar 22, 2011 14:53:16 | I thought Jones was the better wrestler. Seeing him ragdoll Hamill convinced me of that. But yeah, a lot of people thought it was the other way around.I think Lesnar is too young in the sport to be able to handle anything going off plan - as Cain showed us (and Carwin, actually). Plus for such a big, loudmouthed dood, he really can't handle getting hit. JDS is gonna hit him. Hard. As long as JDS can survive the initial Lesnar onlsaught and either stay on his feet or get back to 'em, Lesnar is done for. If he can keep JDS on his back, JDS loses. I don't know what kind of wrestling he has, but he'll need some decent stuff or a lot of luck. Cain is another one of those guys that's ridiculously well rounded, calm and a freak of nature. I'm not totally sold on JDS but Lesnar's been exposed. I wanted to see a good fight - you know, JDS vs Cain - but Cain got hurt pretty bad. Oh well, it's likely to happen eventually. |
| #46homicidal_squirrelMar 22, 2011 15:03:10 | Yeah hamill is a monster wrestler. jones made it look like a peison **** scene. Cry all you want, there is nothing you can do about it. I think he bruised or broke one of Hamill's ribs. Hamill limped out of the octogon afterthat fight. As for JDS. He is going to hit Lesnar... in the face. And yeash, like Cain showed... Lesnar does does not like getting hit int he face. I saw in the post fight interview were Cain was saying that JDS was the best striker in the heavy-weight division. He said JDS was better than him. If that is true, Lesnar is going to get mauled. Cain put a beating and a half on Lesnar. He left him bloodied and on the floor. If JDS is better than Cain then they might be carrying Lesnar out on a stretcher. I am looking forward to the ultimate fighter. It should be an interesting season. Lesnar is one arrogant . It should be funny to see what he does during the season and how he takes his guys winning or losing. |
| #47zombie_babiesMar 22, 2011 15:49:50 | I'm pretty sure he dislocated Hamill's shoulder with one of those throws he gave him. It was BS he got DQd, too. Hamill was done long before those elbows hit. They were illegal but they were only thrown after Jones looked to the ref to stop the beatdown - which he should have done. That fight was over after the first throw. You can't fight with one arm. Well, at least you can't fight Jon Jones with one arm. Franklin KTFOd Lidell with one arm. Heh. Yeah, JDS is a beast when it comes to striking. I just don't know about his takedown D (as in I really don't know - I'm not questioning it I seriously have no idea). If it's not good, Lesnar can win. If it's not good but he can get up it won't matter, but if Lesnar can get him down and hold him there he'll win. Thing is, if JDS can make him eat a couple on the way in it won't matter. Cuz, as amazing as it is to say, Lesnar would crack. He - out of every fighter I've ever seen - hates getting hit in the face more than anybody. Kinda makes ya wonder about his new career path. ;) TUF oughtta be cool. Lesnar will probably be pretty funny. I'm also interested in seeing JDS more cuz I'm not nearly familiar enough with him. |

Yeah the Hamill-Jones fight was over way before the elbows hit. It was an illegal strike and hamill couldn't continue (because of the shoulder), so Hamill got the win by DQ. At least Hamill is cool guy and he said he was not happy with a win in that manner. I think he offered a rematch to Jones, but Jones was moving on to tougher opponents. Danna White is pretty smart in that even when a fighter loses a fight, White sometimes treats the fighter as if he had won. I think this is the case with Jones. He had won the fight, but lost due to a technicality. JDS may have a harder time than one would think with Lesnar. JDS took on Roy Nelson and JDS won the fight, but Nelson held his own in the fight. JDS showed some good take down defense during the fight though. |
| #49ADHadhMar 22, 2011 16:19:35 | Ahhh ok, I was thinking that it sounded like a Dragonball Z character or something. Close. It was a thread about a Ghurkha that defeated 40 robbers in a crowded train by himself, while armed only with a khukri. And he would have let them take the money and go away if one of them didn't try to **** a girl there. That got 'im angry. |

Rua lost to Machida that first time and he thought Rua won so he gave him an immediate rematch. He did the same for Sonnen since he was so close to winning but Chael decided he'd rather do 'roids and go to jail then fight for the championship again. ![]() JDS may have a harder time than one would think with Lesnar. JDS took on Roy Nelson and JDS won the fight, but Nelson held his own in the fight. JDS showed some good take down defense during the fight though. Big Country is no joke. I mean, he acts like one but he's pretty good. That said, I don't think his takedowns are on Brock's level and he's certainly neither as strong nor as explosive. So yeah, I can see JDS having issues. Unless he punches Brock in the mouth early. ;) |
| #52homicidal_squirrelMar 23, 2011 10:55:21 | Big Country is no joke. I mean, he acts like one but he's pretty good. Unless he punches Brock in the mouth early. ;) Yup. I think if Big Country got himslef into shape, he could be a really good heavyweight. Hell, he could drop down to light heavyweight and be pretty badass. His Jiu Jitsu is impressive. There is a video floating around of him taking on Frank Mir in a Jiu Jutsu match when Mir was in awesome shape. I think it was pre-accident. Nelso looked very small next to Mir. As to Brock... yeah, I think Cain (technically Carwin) showed that Brock's cryptonite is a fist. He survived the Carwin fight and won because Carwin punched himself out in the first round. Unfortunately for him, Cain is a much smarter striker, and he chose his punches instead of going all out. JDS looks like Cain in that he too chose his punches when fighting Nelson. Although I think Cain has much better Cardio than JDS. Cain has been in some pretty fast pace fights. Even the Lesnar fight was very fast paced. He looks like he could do a 5 round match easily. JDS seemed pretty worn out after the Nelson fight. And yeah, Nelso doesn't have the size, weight, and explosive power that Lesnar has. JDS did fairly well against Nelson trying to take him down, but Lesnar is like a truck running into you. It should be interesting to watch. I can't wait for TUF. I'm sure Lesnar is going to be a grade-A , but it will be entertaining. |
| #53zombie_babiesMar 23, 2011 11:57:54 | That's why it'll be entertaining. It's also smaller fighters this time, right? Nothing worse than that heavyweight season ...I dunno about Nelson losin' weight. He uses that belly of his, heh. But yeah, he's much better than a lot of people give him credit for. Cain is a friggin' cardio machine. It's one of his focal ares and one thing pretty much everyone says he excels at. A long fight is a bad thing to get into with Cain. JDS likely has good enough cardio in comparison to Brock. He'd be a better fight against Cain, too, cuz he can, you know, take and throw a punch. Brock's cryptonite is a bad cryptonite to have if you're a professional fighter, heh.Still, Brock knows how to get people down and keep them there. If JDS can keep it standing it'll likely be a pathetic spectacle where we'll see Brock cower and, possibly, assume the fetal position. I mean, unless his entire camp is him getting punched in the face over and over again, I don't see him overcoming his punch to the nose phobia any time soon. |
| #54homicidal_squirrelMar 23, 2011 12:28:36 | That's why it'll be entertaining. The heavyweight season was dull… until Big Country knocked out Schaub. That was a hell of a punch that came out of nowhere. I think this season it is either lightweights or welterweights. Those should be some fast paced fihghts. I dunno about Nelson losin' weight. He uses that belly of his, heh. But yeah, he's much better than a lot of people give him credit for. Nelson is way under-rated by most people. The guy is good though. I know he uses that fat belly real well in fights. I think it absorbed several body punches from JDS withput getting hurt. I thill think if he got into better shape he would be much better. He already has excellent cardio… especially for a guy his size. I think if he went down to light heavyweight, he would have even better cardio and he would still be a fairly big light heavyweight fighter. If I was one of Brock’s trainers, I would have him boxing with professional fighters and not allow Brock to wear head gear. He needs to get use to punches to the face. I would love to see a fight between Cain and JDS. Cain has a solid chin. He has been hit a few times. JDS hasn’t really been put in a situation like that. His chin is still questionable. Until someone lands a solid punch, I still give the advantage to Cain. Still, Brock knows how to get people down and keep them there. If JDS can keep it standing it'll likely be a pathetic spectacle where we'll see Brock cower and, possibly, assume the fetal position. I mean, unless his entire camp is him getting punched in the face over and over again, I don't see him overcoming his punch to the nose phobia any time soon. Yup… Brock needs to get the fight to the ground as quickly as possible. If he doesn’t take JDS down quick, I have a feeling that JDS will drop Brock to the ground via punches.

| #55zombie_babiesMar 23, 2011 12:42:16 | The heavyweight season was dull… until Big Country knocked out Schaub. That was a hell of a punch that came out of nowhere. That punch was awesome. I wanted him to win because he's a funny guy and nobody thinks he can do anything cuz he doesn't look right. So what, ya know? It's great he smashed a football player's ass the way he did. Heh. He'd probably be better off at a lower weight but it'd be so much work to do, too. That and then he'd be in the same class as Jones and nobody sane wants that. His cardio surprised the hell out of me, though. He was in better shape than anyone else on that season. Hell, Kimbo had better cardio than most of 'em - he just couldn't fight. If I was one of Brock’s trainers, I would have him boxing with professional fighters and not allow Brock to wear head gear. He needs to get use to punches to the face. There's a huge problem with that - he'd get cut. That's why they don't do it and that's why I think he's gonna get all scared again when he gets hit. If he took a year off and did what you're suggesting he'd probably get over it. But with training for a fight as it is, he can't risk being cut. That's gonna prevent him from getting used to being smashed in the face. It does make you wonder what they work on, though. I mean, he has a major, glaring weakness and it just hasn't improved at all. I would love to see a fight between Cain and JDS. Cain has a solid chin. He has been hit a few times. JDS hasn’t really been put in a situation like that. His chin is still questionable. Until someone lands a solid punch, I still give the advantage to Cain. That would be a fight - and I was lookin' forward to it, too. I think you have to give it to Cain for the reasons you mentioned. JDS has been hurt. So has Cain, but he also walked through it. And Cain is an amazing wrestler, too, so if standing is something he can't manage (which I really doubt), he can always take it down to the mat. Yup… Brock needs to get the fight to the ground as quickly as possible. If he doesn’t take JDS down quick, I have a feeling that JDS will drop Brock to the ground via punches. Seems like Brock's only hope is a hail mary double leg. Not something you'd have said a year ago, that's for sure. Amazing it took someone as long as it did to punch him properly in the face. |
| #56homicidal_squirrelMar 23, 2011 12:58:36 | That punch was awesome. I wanted him to win because he's a funny guy and nobody thinks he can do anything cuz he doesn't look right. So what, ya know? It's great he smashed a football player's ass the way he did. Heh. That was one sweet punch. Schaub just fell over out cold. It was beautiful.
Did you see the video of him training before the Struve fight? His trainer was up on a chair and 'punching' at Roy with these like brooms or something. If you watch, you'll see Roy duck under a punch, dip his upper body hard to the outside of the Struve stand in's body and throw an overhand right at the same time. In the fight, he did exactly that and dropped Struve as a result. That's game planning, man. And it was great to see it in action. Struve had no idea the punch was coming cuz he was lookin' at Roy heading toward his other side. Perfect. The guy is talented and dedicated. He is a smart fighter. Did you notice that he kept on going forward with JDS. Most people back away and create distance, but with a guy like JDS that just lets him throw a punch that gets the benefit of full motion. Nelson swarmed him and got hit, but he minimized the power punches JDS got him with. He'd probably be better off at a lower weight but it'd be so much work to do, too. That and then he'd be in the same class as Jones and nobody sane wants that. That is true. I don’t think anyone wants a piece of Jones right now. There's a huge problem with that - he'd get cut. That's why they don't do it and that's why I think he's gonna get all scared again when he gets hit. If he took a year off and did what you're suggesting he'd probably get over it. I mean, he has a major, glaring weakness and it just hasn't improved at all. That is true, but they should have been doing this a long time ago. The guy needs to either get use to being punched in the face, or go back to WWE. Anyone who is afraid to get hit in the face is going to have a short career in MMA. I’m betting JDS wins and we get Cain VS JDS sometime early next year, if not by the end of this year. Seems like Brock's only hope is a hail mary double leg. Not something you'd have said a year ago, that's for sure. Amazing it took someone as long as it did to punch him properly in the face. As much as everyone says how amazing an athlete he is, a hail mary double leg appears to be his only option against JDS. One other thing Brock has going for him is that JDS doesn’t throw many kicks. If Crocop was younger, I would have liked that fight. One kick from that guy flattens anyone out.

| #57zombie_babiesMar 23, 2011 13:09:39 | That was one sweet punch. Schaub just fell over out cold. It was beautiful. Yep. Yeah, he knows what he's doing. He's a real fighter and anyone that bothers to look past the belly oughtta see it easily. That is true. I don’t think anyone wants a piece of Jones right now. I think if there was another Jon Jones - like an exact copy or something - even he wouldn't want to fight Jon Jones right now. 'Course he would anyway. And probably win, too. ![]() That is true, but they should have been doing this a long time ago. The guy needs to either get use to being punched in the face, or go back to WWE. Anyone who is afraid to get hit in the face is going to have a short career in MMA. Oh yes, they should have recognized it and tried to fix it as soon as they saw him spar. Hell, shadowboxing would have revealed how awful his punching is. I have to say it seems like he has the wrong people helping him. I’m betting JDS wins and we get Cain VS JDS sometime early next year, if not by the end of this year. That's a good way to bet. I agree and it should be awesome. Old Crocop was always awesome to watch. Now? Yeah, it's kinda sad. |
| #58boraxeMar 23, 2011 15:01:52 | And 7 hours later he beat up another guy and took his belt. ![]() |
| #59homicidal_squirrelMar 23, 2011 21:32:25 | Yep. It’s possible, but Schaub has fought any big names. I man he recently beat Crocop, but Crocop has been doing horribly. That guy seriously needs to retire. He was one of my favorite fighter, and I hate seeing him get beat up by guys that in his better days he would have mauled and de-brained with a kick. I think if there was another Jon Jones - like an exact copy or something - even he wouldn't want to fight Jon Jones right now. 'Course he would anyway. And probably win, too. If there was a second Jon Jones, there would be no crime in the world.
That is what happens when you surround yourself with your friends(who are afraid to tell you that you suck), a bunch of “yes men”, and hangers-on. These guys like the money that they get hanging around with Lesnar, but his training team isn’t the best. Lesnar trains with Pat Barry, who isn’t too bad, but he lacks that killer-instinct. When he fought Cropcop, he knocked Crocop down a few times with a solid punch to the chin, but he didn’t follow through. Crocop ended up choking Barry out. If Crocop had knocked Barry down once… just once… he would have gone for the kill. You can’t have the best training camp when you have guys like this around. Also, I think almost everyone of his training partners is a wrestler. Pat Barry may be the only guy they have that can punch. He needs to get rid of his friends and get some real trainers that will put some quality strikers in the ring with him. |

And Crocop should retire before he Lidells himself any further. It's embarrasing. If there was a second Jon Jones, there would be no crime in the world. Truf. As my one friend once said, 'kickboxers are boxers that can't box'. His hands are kinda heavy but he can't throw very accurately. And he's the best striker in Lesnar's camp. Brock's private nature really, really hurts his training. Guys like Penn and St Pierre travel the world, basically, and bring in guys from all over the place to improve their game. They shake up the camp roster from time to time, too, in order to keep from getting stuck in a rut and to focus on different aspects of MMA. Brock just doesn't get that. Or he may and just doesn't care cuz the checks he gets are so huge and cuz he has a chance to win based on his athelticism and aura alone - though that aura has taken a huge hit. Meh, bad camps make bad fighters. The end. |
| #61homicidal_squirrelMar 24, 2011 13:41:29 | Barry can punch ... sorta. He's more kick than punch. As my one friend once said, 'kickboxers are boxers that can't box'. Yeah, Barry isn't the best striker to start. He has some knockout power. If he gets you just right he can put you down, but there is a severe lack of skill. I completely agree, guys like Penn and GSP gather the best trainers from around the world. They don't only on their athletisism. Brock is a big guy with monsterous power. But there is no skill behind all that power. He reminds me of Bob Sapp. That guy is huge. He looks like he eats heavyweights for breakfast. Then you see him in the rin and you see his striking is pathetic. He throws wild punches and rarely gets a good punch in there. His technique is just horrible. The guy kicks and all I can think of is some 12 year old kicking a ball... badly. Lesnar has the money and the fame to attrackbetter trainers. He just bought into his own hype. He isn't going to be getting anywhere if he continues with that. There are also 2 other former wrestlers that got into MMA. I think their names are lashley and Batista (Sp?) I'm not a WWE fan (many many years agon when I was 10 maybe...) so I don't remember their names. I saw a few training and fight videos with them and they seem to be taking their training much more serious than Lesnar. They are fighting guys that are not ranked as high, but at least that gets them some experience before getting in the ring with top level competitors. They also look as if they are doing much more training with strikes. I'm curious to see how their MMA careers go. |
| #62zombie_babiesMar 24, 2011 14:06:06 | Lashly seems to have bought into his own hype, too. They fed him can after can (unlike Brock who had to fight at least decent guys at first) and, eventually, a can opened him. He didn't like being bloodied up and sort of quit. Not a total quit case, but it obviously got to him. I think he was considering bailing on MMA altogether after that loss. Lotsa brawn, no heart. Like Brock. These guys seem to act more than anything. They appear all jacked up and ready to rock until something goes wrong. It's an experience thing, really. And that goes back to your point about bad camps, too. There's no substitute for actual fights, but a good camp can expose issues and begin work on them. These guys just rode their names into the cage, got a little lucky and thought 'hey, this ain't so bad'. There's more to the game than they bother to work on. Maybe one day they'll try. Unless Brock is just cashin' checks, that is. I think a lot of us - even though we don't like getting punched in the mouth - would take a couple of shots and then curl in a ball for seven figures. ;) |

I was not aware that he had lost a fight yet. I haven't followed his career much. every once in a while I find a video of Lashley in a fight. I still haven't seen the other guy in a fight. But yeah, you're right, they all end up buying into their own hype. I just saw the Lashley fight. Damn... he couldn't even get up t the end of that round. Pretty bad beatdown. o.k. so a change of topic... kind of... What do you think of Shogun going down a weight class to 185 and taking on Silva? There is no way that Shogun is going to get his title back from Jones. What do you think his chances are against Silva? |
| #64zombie_babiesMar 25, 2011 9:14:34 | I don't know. I think some of it, oddly enough, depends on how much Silva likes him. Honest. Since he's Brazilian and Silva fights other Brazilians differently for some reason, I think some of it depends on that opinion. If he thinks of Rua as he did Belfort, I think Shogun would see Silva at his best - and that would be bad for Rua. Shogun is a great fighter that sometimes can't get past his own head. By beating Machida twice, though, I think he showed he's grown in that regard. Still, he also beat Machida twice and Machida is a friend of Silva so that may be motivation ... meh, enough with the goofball stuff. Silva is a better fighter than Rua. Rua, though, is still dangerous. All other things forgotten (which, IMO, is something you can't do with Silva - he's just so goofy), I'd pick Silva. But Rua would have a chance, yes. And more than just the 'puncher's chance' or the 'Silva's chance' (Sonnen), too. |
| #65homicidal_squirrelMar 25, 2011 10:11:26 | Good point... So who would you have Silva fight that could give him a good fight or possibly defeat him at 185? I think we would need to have some guys come down from light heavyweight... |
| #66zombie_babiesMar 25, 2011 11:40:17 | Yeah, I don't think there's anybody at 185 that can handle him right now. I mean, I can't even think of one person I'd like to see him face. Somebody oughtta drop down. |
| #67homicidal_squirrelMar 25, 2011 12:04:35 | What do you think Rapage's chances are? How about Machida? I know they say they won't fight, but if they did (and Machida got his confidence back) what do you think his chances are? Maybe even Rashad. He is pretty quick. I think if he can close in on Silva he may have the Sonnen chance to win. |
| #68zombie_babiesMar 25, 2011 12:21:27 | Rampage is almost done, I think. If he gets gassed making 205, 185 would likely kill him, heh. If Machida and Silva fought, it'd probably be the most boring thing ever with them doing everything they could not to hurt each other. If they weren't friends, I think Machida would pose problems and could beat him but that it'd also still be a boring fight. Two counterpunchers fighting is excellent cerebrally but not so hot on the action front. Rashad, though? He's Sonnen but stronger and a lot faster. I think he'd have a real shot. |
| #69homicidal_squirrelMar 25, 2011 12:39:40 | You're probably right. Machida and Silva would be a pretty boring fight. Rashad vs Silva would be fun to watch, but we are going to have to wait until after Jones curb stomps Rashad. .i think .rashad believes he has a chance against him. He's in for a rude awakening. So who would you put against GSP? |
| #70zombie_babiesMar 25, 2011 12:50:08 | Yeah, hopefully Jones kicks Rashad's ass all the way down to 185. ![]() As for GSP, I have to say I just don't wanna see him fight at all anymore. Too safe, too boring. Granted, I appreciate the skill it takes to win in such dominating fashion time after time and I appreciate his want to win to keep that cash a' flowin', but he just bores the crap out of me. As for fights I'd like to see since GSP ain't goin' anywhere, I'd have to go with Shields first. Shields is boring as hell, too, but his MMA wrestling is really, really good. So is GSP's. I'd guess they'd balance out and the fight would be standing. Either that or GSP will continue to do what he does best and fight his oppenent in his weakest area. So, stand up fight. And, if it is, GSP should beat the ever lovin' crap outta Shields in a stand up fight. I'd also like to see him fight Kampmann but I think he'd just take him down at will and do his pitter patter impression of GnP. Like all of his latest fights. But if Kampmann could somehow miracle his way to a stand up battle, I think it'd be interesting. After that, Fitch again cuz maybe he's improved somehow. Nobody else seems able to beat him so why not? Most of GSP's fights are gonna be boring because that's how he likes 'em anyway. And cuz he's afraid to get hit after Serra made him look like a chump. |
| #71homicidal_squirrelMar 25, 2011 13:38:01 | Yeah, hopefully Jones kicks Rashad's ass all the way down to 185. Yeah, GSP's fights are pretty lame. It sucks that there isn't anyone who can really challenge him. I think the GSP vs Shields fight is going to be the most over-hyped snooze-fest. Shields is good. The guy hasn't lost a fight in about 6 years right? But yeah, like you said, he is another boring fighter. We are going to have to clone Jones and make lighter versions of him. That may be dangerous as the guy is already fast as hell. A Jones-clone at 175 may not be viewable through your standard camera. We may need one of those high speed cameras. |
| #72zombie_babiesMar 25, 2011 13:40:27 | Heh, there may be some potential in attempting to grow a bigger Pettis, too. ![]() |
| #73homicidal_squirrelMar 25, 2011 14:38:29 | Even better... combine the two... run! ![]() |
| #74zombie_babiesMar 25, 2011 14:46:05 | Heh, I'm actually kinda surprised Jones hasn't tried that kick yet. He's a fan of pullin' technique from the 'net so long as it's flashy an' cool. Maybe he's savin' it for Suga ... ![]() |
| #75homicidal_squirrelMar 25, 2011 14:48:43 | I think that may be too dangerous for him to try. He may kill the guy he kicks. |
