Since community regulations put in place by dimwit council members get enforced by some cops with no amount of common sense I would guess.

As an aside the Girl Scouts as an incorporated "not-for-profit" organization with national, state, and local chapters and still subject to various state laws for transient vendors should have been ahead of this situation before it ever arose.  This is also their "corporate wing's" lack of common sense at work as well.

The cop was just trying to get a free box of thin mints. Too bad those little girls haven't learned how the world really works yet.

Why waste the ammunition? Just tackle the kids and take the cookies as criminal paraphernalia after you have the little buggers restrained in the paddy wagon.

Not as fun. Kills too quickly. Taser-guns are a lot more fun, and afterwards you can take them to jail. Teach those little hoodlums that there are rules and consequences for not following those rules. It’s kind of hard to learn that if you are dead.

This reminds me of the South Park episode where all the kids are on Ridalin, and the parents watch a video for a guy who has a non-chemical solution.

video-guy: "Sit down, and Shut-up".
student: "No"
video-guy smacks the student
video-guy: "I said, sit down and shut up."
student: "Yes sir."

What is really suprising is that in a free country you are required to get a piece of paper from the government to permit you to do something.

I took American Criminal Justice, and this subject actually came up.  The gun is only supposed to go off if you, the officer, feel your life or the lives of others are in danger, and only if you intend to shoot the other person, so no "warning shots."  If someone pulls a gun, knife, or other dangerous weapon, you break out the gun.  If your life or the lives of others are not in danger, but you're still in harm's way or need to take someone down?  Just two words into the little shoulder radio:  "deploying taser."  The suspect has enough time to notice two little prods stick into his/her skin, just before they "ride the lightning" as it were.  There are also other non-lethal means of taking someone down in their arsenal, like pepperspray and batons, but they're there for the same reason: an equalizer in a fight with someone using non-lethal force.

Before I wanted to get into genetics and biochemistry, I wanted to be a criminal psychologist, so I took the Criminal Justice class.  Very interesting course, and the teacher was old with crappy vocal cords, so he only spoke for half the course anyway.  But you take a couple years off of school, and eventually interests change, and well, seven years later, here I am.  : P

Run... just run...

It was my intention. I wanted to tell her I had to stop seeing her. It ended with me going on a one month trip with her!

Can you imagine what would happen if run?

I could.  Speaking from experience, the answer is probably nothing, especially if you don't feel anything for her, and if you do, once those feelings fade, the answer will still be nothing.  Going back for the "mating" is never a good idea.

While its been a while since I broke things off with the ex, there's something to moving on.  There's a lot less stress, a lot less annoyance.  I'm not one for goodbyes, so I just disappeared from my ex's life after the last time we'd spoken.  She had always been a destructive influence in my life, and I'd given her too much power over me in the past.  It not only freed me of a burden, it opened up the possibility of finding a new relationship, and letting go of the pain and the memories gave me a chance to replace them happiness, and new memories.  Disappearing freed me of a burden, and it allowed me to open my heart to the beautiful, kind hearted, wonderful woman I'm with now.

Yeah, I mean I don't want her dead, just completely out of my life, without so much as a chance to get back in.  Disappearing and cutting her off while leaving her in the dark was the only real way to do that.  I mean, I wanted a clean break, not a rap sheet and first degree homicide charges, followed by an inevitable death sentence.

By then though, I didn't care.  Apathy had already set in, so I wouldn't have had any motivation to kill her/"make her disappear" anyway.

That's usually what one means when they refer to "making someone else disappear."

For use in a sentence:  "I'm not [just] going to kill you, I'm gonna make you disappear."

Locking her up in your basement is another method.

I'm just going to walk away from the discussion before this goes from the definition of "making someone else disappear" to how best to get away with it.

At work, probably. The presence of secondary victims, including the place of business itself, gives rise to a much higher number of potential suspects: exes of the other co-workers, people who have a grudge aginst or stand to profit from the distruction of the business, ect. Just have to figure out how to obscure the arson, which honestly should be much easier than obscuring most types of murder [who commited the arson, not the fact that the fire was intentional].
