| #2pigknightJan 20, 2009 19:24:23 | I didn't expect what I read AT ALL. |
| #3dirtyfrankJan 20, 2009 19:32:25 | I didn't expect what I read AT ALL. What were you expecting? On second thought, you probably shouldn't answer. Another food that I like is pizza. |
| #4goblin_prideJan 20, 2009 20:07:00 | I didn't expect what I read AT ALL. You have a dirty mind. |
| #5pigknightJan 20, 2009 20:20:00 | I was being sarcastic, I should've said: "I didn't expect you to make a thread with this title AT ALL." |
| #6midnitepoisonJan 20, 2009 20:26:23 | yup! thats pigknight for u! my favorite food....is bamba! its kinda like cheetos, except instead of cheese, the puffy things are coated in peanut butter. i spend like 50 shekel a week on bags of that stuff![]() |
| #7dirtyfrankJan 20, 2009 20:37:04 | pigknight isn't even half as bad as I am. I don't know why but I don't like soda but when I have some in front of me I will drink it all day long. Even if I don't like the particular brand of soda. |
| #8Lord_VentnorJan 20, 2009 20:46:03 | Teriyaki Sauce. My God, just Teriyaki sauce. That and curry. And perhaps, Duck, prepared French-style. Sweetbreads are good too. As are Raviolis. And Lasagna. Ooh! Fajitas too! And... Well, I could go on, but I won't. |
| #9aardwolfJan 20, 2009 21:30:37 | chicken curry :D and mongolian chicken!!! |
| #10ciaranJan 20, 2009 21:32:16 | Milkshakes Guacomole Prime Rib Gin & Juice Tater Tots Thai Curry |
| #11dirtyfrankJan 20, 2009 21:33:42 | Oh man, I also like milkshakes and tator tots. |

| #16baneofelvesJan 20, 2009 23:19:40 | You have a dirty mind. Well, dirtyfrank has been making a ton of filthy sexual comments lately, so what do you expect? I like eating ice cream, pizza, eggrolls, and popsicles. EDIT: Thanks for the correction, piggy. I also think bacon is among the greatest foods. EDIT 2:And actually, Pigknight is sick. No going to his defense now! |
| #17pigknightJan 20, 2009 23:21:23 | Well, dirtyfrank has been making a ton of fitlhy sexual comments lately, so what do oyu expect? Karma, sweet, sweet karma. EDIT: Sorry thought you quoted me in the other thread. |
| #18dirtyfrankJan 20, 2009 23:24:55 | pigknight you have made me remember one of the greatest food groups. BEACON! One of the greatest foods of all of man kind. |
| #19pigknightJan 20, 2009 23:29:10 | pigknight you have made me remember one of the greatest food groups. Karma, sweet, sweet karma. I id the correct person this time. (Inb4misquote) |

| #21dirtyfrankJan 20, 2009 23:37:52 | Aren't Ballpark Franks (hot dogs) made with pork or at least partly? |
| #22pigknightJan 20, 2009 23:39:00 | Aren't Ballpark Franks (hot dogs) made with pork or at least partly? Nope, they're kosher. (If I mispelt that don't quote me. It's a hard word.) |
| #23baneofelvesJan 20, 2009 23:39:22 | I think so. EDIT: I stand corrected. Also, Piggy, you got it right. |
| #24pigknightJan 20, 2009 23:41:45 | Success! |
| #25ocarina_guyJan 21, 2009 0:00:06 | I like cheesecake. The food! I meant the food! |
| #26toastedamphibianJan 21, 2009 0:56:50 | I like cheesecake. Oh? What do you like to put on your cheesecake? |
| #27sigil_beguilerJan 21, 2009 1:01:58 | -Turkey (I love Turkey Slaughter Days, ie; Thanksgiving and Christmas) -Pumpkin Pie -Chicken Parmesan -Lasagna -Pasta in general really -Fries (especially the Vegetarian Fries at NYC Fries) (I have been tempted to make a "Italian" version of Poutine, replace the gravy with tomato sauce (perhaps meat sauce to make it more hearty) and keep the melted gravy and put it over the fries) -Home Fries -Baked Potatoes I like most food, well... besides stuff like roast beef and steak, but those are some big ones. |
| #28terronusJan 21, 2009 1:03:28 | CASU MARZU!!! YUMMY!!! |
| #29oxybeJan 21, 2009 8:14:59 | chicken curry :D and mongolian chicken!!! i like your style. back when the FLGS owner went across the provincial border more often(he carted sock between his 2 stores) i would often follow him at the cost of 5$+moving 3 or four boxes for the drive from Ch'town,PE to Moncton,NB! one of our rituals was to go to this nice restaurant called the "Red Pepper Mongolian Grill" that was close to his other store... and man oh man, such good food at an all you can eat? just wow. -i really enjoy thai cooking. moreso upon finding out about Rolaids. if anyone is ever in Ch'town, PE i recommend the "Thai food and dim sum place" on Kent street in the Downtown area. nice folks, nice atmosphere and great takeout or dine-in (every wednesday for our D&D session i have to order out). hot, spicy and delicious. -i enjoy chinese food every now an then. no restaurant in particular in my area made me jump in attention. -pizza with meat on it. enough to choke a tiger dead. thrice over. "Little Christo's" on University had something called the Canadian pizza. me and my roommade were hungry so we ordered it. here's what we got (from top layer to bottom):
-Campbell's beef stew. 3$. a bowl of thick, rich stew. found at most supermarkets. what? it's not fancy but it's good. |
| #30m-barkJan 21, 2009 8:23:17 | I like salmon. |
| #31Cpt_MichaJan 21, 2009 8:24:23 | Peanut butter and Jelly Sandwiches. Real BBQ or just that "throw sauce on it" stuff? (Note I like both. But there is a Huge Difference between the two BBQ sauce does not BBQ make) Peanut Butter and Jelly Mushroom and Swiss + hamburger= win. Reubens Homemade Lasagna. (none of this store bought crap) Caesar Salad. Cheesesteaks Pizza (from Pizza Hut or Papa Johns... if I can't get anything made by a real pizzeria) Strombolli. Chicken Alfredo Delicious Baked Desserts. Such as Cake, Pie, pastries and the list just goes on Jelly Donuts. Barq's Rootbeer. Cotton Club Danish Cream Soda Mexican Food Japanese Food Chinese Food Italian Food Grilled Cheese and Tomato soup *using milk instead of water* Bratwurst (slow cooked soaked in garlic, onions, greenpeppers, and in a dash of olive oil) Eggs in the basket. Runny. Western Omelets Keish Pancakes with maple or strawberry syrup, and spread or butter. Bacon Cheddarballs. Bacon strips. BLT Sandwich. Romanburgers from Mr. Hero mmmmmmmm And people wonder why I work out so much. It's because I love food. I'd be a gluttonous fat slob if I didn't work out :D |
| #32batshidoJan 21, 2009 8:26:04 | Philly Steak and Cheese Sandwiches. Say it with me now, Micha; "cheesesteak" Those are called "cheesesteaks". And they're cow's gift to man. |
| #33dirtyfrankJan 21, 2009 8:29:53 | -pizza with meat on it. enough to choke a tiger dead. thrice over. "Little Christo's" on University had something called the Canadian pizza. me and my roommade were hungry so we ordered it. here's what we got (from top layer to bottom): It's only pizza if there is meat on it. Of course the only exception to this rule is if it is a cheese pizza. But yes, the more meat, the better. |
| #34batshidoJan 21, 2009 8:36:23 | It's only pizza if there is meat on it. Of course the only exception to this rule is if it is a cheese pizza. I discovered that the pizzaria next door makes pepperoni, steak and meatball pizzas. My waistline still hasn't forgiven me, but they're just too delicious to stop. |
| #35Cpt_MichaJan 21, 2009 8:36:36 | Say it with me now, Micha; "cheesesteak" Those are called "cheesesteaks". No.. "Roman burgers" are.. From Mr. Hero.. I recommend everyone try one at some point. Dear god... that would kill you! Almost as fast as my Bacon Cheddarballs It's only pizza if there is meat on it. Of course the only exception to this rule is if it is a cheese pizza. Nah, gotta leave room for the green peppers, onions, and black olives :P I just started a new diet too... now I want to break it... just one of the things on my list would certainly do it! |
| #36roxlimnJan 21, 2009 10:40:56 | Ice Cream. Lots of different kinds of ice cream. Corn Wasabi Green Tea Cheese Yam Mango Choco-Rice Crispies Mixed Bean Cantaloupe Sweet Coconut Fruit Salad Starapple especially Starapple! |
| #37ADHadhJan 21, 2009 11:07:40 | Italian cuisine, tomato soup, spinach, broccoli... Actually it would be easier for me to list edible things I hate. |
| #38minja_dupJan 21, 2009 13:20:22 | Real BBQ or just that "throw sauce on it" stuff? (Note I like both. But there is a Huge Difference between the two BBQ sauce does not BBQ make) I think the place I go to uses Sweet Baby Rays in place of the normal tomato sauce, then puts the cheese on top, followed by the strips of chicken that have also been dipped in the BBQ. They don't bread their chicken like you often find on a buffalo chicken pizza. When I first hear about it, I thought that it sounded gross, but it was fantastic. :D |
| #39zombie_babiesJan 21, 2009 13:38:27 | Hmm ... Steak - filets are preferred, but beef tenderloin works nicely. Medium Rare. Chicken Venison and other wild game Breads of all sorts Mashed taters A good salad - that means with bacon, eggs and croutons. Preferably red french dressing. If not, white french works, too. Ferrero Rocher (sp?) candies. Nummy. Brownies Cheesecake (plain) Rice Crispy treats Iced tea (no sugar, no lemon) Scotch (The Glenlivet, Glenfiddich for "good stuff" and Famous Grouse for "cheap") Beer (too many to mention. also kind of dependent upon the time of year) Bacon stuffed bacon wrapped in bacon cooked in bacon grease and with bacon gravy. EDIT: wanted to add Sushi, Sake and Green Tea. Now that's a good meal. And a good time. ;) And, of course, plenty more. These are just the ones that immediately came to mind. |
| #401_ton_ghostJan 21, 2009 13:45:05 | -GT South's (Indie), best soul food I've had (Gencon's unseen contribution) -High end sushi, generous wasabi. Salmon nigri or unagi preferably. -Pizza, all manner: feta/olives/green peppers, regular w/ salami, not pepperoni -Chicken vindaloo -Hot & sour soup, extra chinese mustard -Black raspberry chocolate chip ice cream, Greater's especially -Skyline Chili (a "3-way" [I know, I know ], pasta, chili, shredded cheddar)-Spagetti bolognese -BW3 wings; spicy garlic, asian zing, parmesian -Beef chimichangas, lots of Cholula hot sauce |
| #41farmer42_dupJan 21, 2009 16:38:58 | BBQ, any and all BBQ. But especially good pork butt with a light sauce drizzled on it. Take 5 bars. And I second all of 1tG's BW3 list. Even though he uses wasabi on sushi. ![]() EDIT: Oh, and 1tG's right on the money, chili-wise. Nothing beats a good 3-way. Beans are for heathens. |
| #42goblin_prideJan 21, 2009 18:08:11 | Food is food. I eat to live, not the other way around. Although the two posting from the middle east are really starting to annoy me. It's horrible being stuck here in Iowa and longing for the more exotic locales of my youth. |
| #43susannymnJan 22, 2009 2:09:05 | Food of the Gods: Kiefles 2 c flour 1 c small-curd cottage cheese 1 c chilled butter 1 c apricot jam ½ c finely chopped nuts Place flour and cheese in bowl, cut in butter with pastry knife or hands until thoroughly blended and can cling into ball. Divide into 3 balls, chill 3 hours. Roll balls out into 8-10” circle about 1/8” thick. Spread out jam and nuts, cut into 8 pie wedges, roll inward crescent style. Bake on greased sheet 375` 20 minutes (use parchment paper if available). Also works with Raspberry Jam and Honey, though Apricot and other citrus-based Jams work best. |
| #441_ton_ghostJan 22, 2009 9:37:19 | BBQ, any and all BBQ. But especially good pork butt with a light sauce drizzled on it. Butt and drizzled sauce? I think alot of vegans have even had that dish.;) Take 5 bars. I know I had one or 2 once, but I can't remember what they taste like. I'm sure they're good, but it irks me that I can't recall. I still have a penchant for Twix, 3 Musketeers, and any dark chocolate really. And I second all of 1tG's BW3 list. Even though he uses wasabi on sushi. Not "on", but "with"...as in I mix a pinch & 1/2 into my soy dish & mix (blend?) until the mixture is light/cloudy. Usually just for some of the rolls, etc., typically nigri is fine as is. It started as a precautionary measure: food allergy to alot of fish. Which is ironic as I can eat nearly all the sushi I want, save, uh, mackerel, stuff like that. But a Fillet of Fish (McDonald's, Frisch's, etc.) will put me down real fast. G/f took me out to Ko-Sho for my "education" (1st time for sushi) was ignorant of the fact. Hilarity ensued, well, for her anyway. Feels like you swallowed a cactus and you need something high in acid to dissolve the fish oil promptly. Typically, this is lemon juice, vinegar in a pinch, wasabi, of course, works. That sh-t is gold too for a head cold, swear by it. EDIT: Oh, and 1tG's right on the money, chili-wise. Nothing beats a good 3-way. Beans are for heathens. I'm a Buckeye at heart, what can I say. It's largely a Cincy thing, but I'm not for caring, good is good. I like to see the proliferation. 4-way; beans? Eh, not really my bag, but it'll do is that's what I'm served. Not picky. |
| #45oxybeJan 22, 2009 10:44:25 | trust me, i know about wasabi clearing your sinuses... i remember the first time seeing it and my buddy telling me it was great and to just dip my finger in it and taste it. of course i was wary, but he wouldn't do anything really bad. so i dipped my index and grabbed a "healthy" amount. hilarity ensued. for him. |
| #46batshidoJan 22, 2009 10:48:08 | trust me, i know about wasabi clearing your sinuses... i remember the first time seeing it and my buddy telling me it was great and to just dip my finger in it and taste it. A buddy of mine was in town for a card tournament. He's Texan, through and through, and couldn't believe I was warning him off of "some pansy *** hotsauce. I mean, damn, it's green for chrissakes." He takes a dollop, spreads it nice and thick over his piece of "******* rice-fish nothin'" and throws it into his mouth. I though we were going to have to call paramedics. |
| #47oxybeJan 22, 2009 11:05:55 | ouch. i've built up a resistance to spicy & hot stuff thanks to my thai food addiction, but a dollop of wasabi... ouch. just ouch. |
| #481_ton_ghostJan 22, 2009 13:44:30 | Ha! Nice you guys. Good times. Think there was a bit on "Jackass" where Steve-O does a rail or 2 of it ala coke @ some sushi bar. The pain must've been monumental, but comedy, even low-brow, priceless. It's fun to sneak some onto someone's burger, etc. Oh, good prank for you: get someone w/ allergies to play w/ a dog, cat, whatever, and bait them into blowing their nose when the sneezes start. Make sure you thin down some wasabi and get it in the tissue discretely. ;) I've seen this variation with more, uh, unsavory additives (tissue wedged in prankster's ass, put back in box, given to prankee). The sneeze from Hell afterwards, omg... |
| #49minja_dupJan 22, 2009 17:50:56 | Wasabi is a must to have with Sushi. I don't put it directly on sushi except sometimes I will put it on my Maki rolls. I agree you mix it with the soy sauce and blend it to a light brown color. ![]() I first tried it when all the boys at the table decided to "Man Up" and measure their testosterone levels in a competition over ability to consume huge amounts of the green stuff. Not to be outdone by a bunch of guys I jumped in, and have loved it ever since. I have noticed that Wasabi is often inconsistently hot. Sometimes you get it and it clears your sinuses just being in the same room with it, and sometimes you can eat it by the spoon full and it doesn't do anything. ![]() |
| #50pigknightJan 22, 2009 17:56:27 | Wasabi is a must to have with Sushi. I don't put it directly on sushi except sometimes I will put it on my Maki rolls. I agree you mix it with the soy sauce and blend it to a light brown color. ZOMG MINJA HAZ MOR BALLZ THUN UZ! |
| #51dirtyfrankJan 22, 2009 18:00:32 | ZOMG MINJA HAZ MOR BALLZ THUN UZ! She has three testies? ![]() |
| #52pigknightJan 22, 2009 18:02:48 | ...Umm...wow... ...I think there's some people are into that kind of thing... ...umm... |
| #53dirtyfrankJan 22, 2009 18:04:44 | Has anybody eaten very exotic foods such as insects, strange animals, or weird animal parts? If so then how did they taste? |
| #54minja_dupJan 22, 2009 18:11:54 | ZOMG MINJA HAZ MOR BALLZ THUN UZ! Those are mammaries, not testes. ![]() |
| #55stealthmarmotJan 22, 2009 18:45:03 | Damn you peoples for reminding me of all the wonderful foods I am being denied on my diet! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELLLLLLLL!!!!!! *cries and pounds the sand in front of what at first glance is a ruined Statue of Liberty, but is in fact a Bob's Big Boy* |
| #56minja_dupJan 22, 2009 19:02:15 | Damn you peoples for reminding me of all the wonderful foods I am being denied on my diet! Salads are good. Carrots are good. Rice dishes with corn, or broccoli and chicken is good. I like cracked black pepper. Lemon pepper seasoning. Garlic. Sea Salt is also very good. :D |
| #57roxlimnJan 22, 2009 19:30:22 | dirtyfrank: To be honest, I think that practically all the best foods in the world are considered strange by Americans for some reason. Must be the whole melting pot/PC thing. What I mean is that many Americans would consider eating bull balls as exotic, even though lots of their fellow Americans do it, and it's not terribly bad as a food source. In fact, I find it perfectly mundane. What would you say is a weird animal part? Ox tongue? Heavenly. Best part of the ox except for the tail, IMO. Ox brain? Chicken feet? Pig intestines? Pork knuckles? Pork ears? What's a weird animal? Monitor Lizard? Chick in the shell? Day old chick? Duck egg? Snake? Ostrisch? Gator? They'll all quite tasty, by the way. Excellent stuff there. I don't consider any of the above very "weird" at all, but I know some Americans who do. Can't get them to touch the stuff. |
| #58pigknightJan 22, 2009 19:34:28 | dirtyfrank: I like my ears, fingers and colon thank you very much! :P |
| #59roxlimnJan 22, 2009 19:53:52 | So do I. If you'll let me nibble on them. ;) |
| #60oxybeJan 22, 2009 20:06:47 | i eat raw clams if that helps for more... exotic tastes? generally quahogs but i enjoy soft shell clams too. raw clams (especially if fresh) is hard to beat IMO. a little bit grainy due to sand, but the texture and taste of a clam as slides down your throat is hard to beat, IMO. as for "weird" foods, the rest of my tastes are pretty bland. i grew up in a traditional acadian family where meat & potatoes, a hardy stew and more butter rolls then you throw a stick at were the common foods. every now and then i'll eat the "hobo's meal" : buttered bread chunks that you dip in molasses. very filling though. |
| #61dirtyfrankJan 22, 2009 20:20:57 | Roxlimn Seeing as I'm an ass of an American the "normal" food in my perspective is stuff like sausage, standard beef cuts, hamburger meat, chicken, turkey, other bird/pheasant. Most fish, snake, and rabbit meat could also be seen as somewhat normal. Any meat outside of these things is what most Americans would see as weird. Crab, lobster, and shrimp, clam and such are also normal. Shark would be seen as weird/exotic. |
| #62pigknightJan 22, 2009 20:22:53 | I'd that. |
| #63toastedamphibianJan 22, 2009 20:30:52 | "pigknight: Taping wierd/exotic sharks since 2009." |
| #64minja_dupJan 22, 2009 20:47:23 | Has anybody eaten very exotic foods such as insects, strange animals, or weird animal parts? I know I shouldn't say this, as I am sure I will open myself up to many juvenile jokes..... but on a family trip, to my dad's surprise, I actually tried.... rocky mountain oysters. They were actually pretty good. |
| #65dirtyfrankJan 22, 2009 20:49:47 | I've been to the Rocky Mountains before. What a cold place to be. |
| #66roxlimnJan 22, 2009 21:01:08 | dirttyfrank: See, that's strange. Sharksfin dumplings are like, the most mundane foods in the world around here. You order those when you don't know what else to eat. Of course, most dumplings aren't really sharksfin, but that's only because they're using cheaper substitutes. I wouldn't mind actually eating genuine Sharksfin all the time - not at all. I really think you guys are missing out big time. Cheese ice cream! That's apparently not a normal ice cream flavor over there. That saddens me a little. |
| #67pigknightJan 22, 2009 21:03:00 | I'd that. |
| #68dirtyfrankJan 22, 2009 21:03:33 | I do like the exotic foods that I have tasted, but IMHO I do believe that the best tasting food is American food. Of course this is only my unimportant opinion. |
| #69minja_dupJan 22, 2009 21:04:22 | I have had Shark steak but never fin. I have had cow tongue. Very tender, and good. |
| #70pigknightJan 22, 2009 21:07:20 | I'd that.(And by that I mean I'd try it.) |
| #71wilwarinandamarJan 22, 2009 22:02:29 | Sukiyaki. If you're not familiar with Japanese food, it's like stirfry but all of the ingredients are kept separated. I took one bite, and it was deliciously addictive. I nearly ate the entire pan myself, and it's enough food for 4. |
| #72dirtyfrankJan 22, 2009 23:01:34 | Sukiyaki. If you're not familiar with Japanese food, it's like stirfry but all of the ingredients are kept separated. At some places "food for 4" can mean "enough food to fill one". |
| #73oxybeJan 22, 2009 23:17:16 | At some places "food for 4" can mean "enough food to fill one". for some people, "food for 4" means "when's the next serving?" :D |
| #74Cpt_MichaJan 23, 2009 8:27:26 | Has anyone had Alligator before? What does that taste like? |
| #75dirtyfrankJan 23, 2009 10:30:34 | Maybe it tastes like chicken. Everything else seems to, so why not? |
| #76minja_dupJan 23, 2009 10:37:22 | Has anyone had Alligator before? I had some fried up in an appetizer entree at a restaurant two years ago. It had a tough, kind of rubbery texture and tasted like a bland fishy... (you guessed it) chicken. It was kind of tough as I recall, but good, not fatty at all. So no extra time on the treadmill..... |
| #77Cpt_MichaJan 23, 2009 10:38:16 | I <3 Minja now :P Thank you for this enlightenment... maybe I'll buy some later. |
| #78toastedamphibianJan 23, 2009 16:48:57 | Has anyone had Alligator before? Alot of people eat it down here. I've always been told that it tastes alot like snake. Which is to say that it tastes like chicken. |
| #79dirtyfrankJan 23, 2009 17:45:06 | Has anybody had any toasted, grilled, smoked, baked, or stir-fried amphibian? What about amphibian stew? |
| #80roxlimnJan 23, 2009 18:34:28 | Fried frog legs. Very nice. No, it doesn't taste like chicken. It tastes like frog. |
| #81minja_dupJan 23, 2009 23:20:54 | Does chicken taste like frog? |
| #82roxlimnJan 23, 2009 23:37:42 | About as much as it tastes like turkey and duck. |
| #83baneofelvesJan 23, 2009 23:40:06 | duck is yummy. |
| #84roxlimnJan 23, 2009 23:41:15 | Peking Duck = win Salted Duck Egg = win |
| #85baneofelvesJan 23, 2009 23:42:43 | +1 |
| #86dirtyfrankJan 23, 2009 23:46:55 | My turkey is awesome! |
| #87TouchfuzzyJan 23, 2009 23:51:53 | Does chicken taste like frog? I had frog legs... they tasted like rubbery chicken... I've also had eel, snake, alligator, shark, and once because my brother got me one and insisted I have it... a lollipop with a scorpion in it. (there are also other things that I've eaten that are odd... its just hard to remember them all... I love trying new foods.) |
| #88roxlimnJan 24, 2009 0:05:38 | Of all the meats I've eaten, I think I like lamb the least. It's gamey and hard to cook. That said, lamb chops cooked decently are great. Lamb cooked adobo-style and spiced with hot peppers is mucho delicioso. |
| #89pigknightJan 24, 2009 0:41:32 | Mutton ftw. I'd say we should eat more mutton. |
| #90roxlimnJan 24, 2009 0:58:57 | I'd like to eat more mutton, but aside from grilling them and stewing them in various sauces, I don't really know what to do with them. Would they taste good in sour broth? |
| #91aardwolfJan 24, 2009 5:31:04 | Animals are yummy!!! I recommend Ethiopian highly! the spices alone are worth the effort of finding a good resteraunt, anyone who gets to Denver should try the Axum on Colfax..they are great, or if really want a little drive, further on Colfax in Aurora is the Ras Dashen. one of my favorite restraunts on earth! |

| #1411_ton_ghostJan 29, 2009 14:06:58 | Recommended "gamer food": -Boneless wings (read, fork not fingers to spare your PHB& dice). Napkins are good, but you go through alot of them w/ wet/dry erase markers & grid maps. Spicier is typically better for guys, cut heat best w/ white milk, not beer, though you can't miss w/ a heavy one (stout, whatever) -Various sushi depending on the discriminating gamer. Rolls are easiest, non messy, simple fare. Budget accordingly, but don't skimp either. -Pizza, the default house game food. "Like sex, even when it's bad it's still pretty good." Standard 4 PC party + 1 DM = eh, 2 larges or so depending on the "bulk" as it were? Gamers sometimes run like crows: skinny as a rail or big as a house. All are "Mr./Mrs. Bottomless Pits" though for pizza. I'm partial to salami over pepperoni (less greasy, spicier). Feta, green olives, crushed red peppers ("Socrates Revenge" @ Dewey's Pizza), etc. -Soft tacos; cheap (1 PC bring beef, another tomatos, bla bla bla), easy to make, slightly messy but easilly avoidable if civilized. Big "if" though. -Most italian fare, spagetti predominating due to ease/speed/price. Serves many which is key. Swear by spagetti bolognese w/ lots of garlic, oregano, and parmesan. -Take-out Chinese, big favorite for many gamers. Szechuan is definetly my bag, others like less spice. Hunan beef, Gen.Tso's Chicken, etc. are safe bets (won't alienate the timid). Plus, every PC gets a fortune cookie which, depending on gamer beer consumption, can work it's way into the campaign ;). -Greek; any gyro or Greek salad will do. Can't miss. Baklava is the sh-t, but all that honey (no comment) can be messy. Take care. Typical junk food (all gamers do this) -Combos, pizza flavored preferably. Easy, non greasy always a plus. -Various 2-litres (volume/$), not cans (do some dishes heathen!). I'm a Coke man myself, but all caffeine, like XP, is welcome. Wtf happened to Lime Coke though? If really fancy, make a "black cow" (ice cream float, typically w/ vanilla & root beer, Coke in a pinch). "Pink cow" (cherry 7-Up, vanilla). -Bigass bowl of mixed nuts, cashews if you've got the $. Serves alot, easy. -Chex Mix is alright. They do make entire bags of just the rye chips, awesome. Pretzels, things like that. All kind of the same shtick. -Coffee, and lots of it. Bailey's if you are of a mind, though the caffeine + alcohol are major dieuretics (you'll pee like a fountain). Drink alot of water. -Bite-sized donuts, those little "holes", etc. Toothpick them to avoid glazed/powdered suagar on your favorite minis, books, etc. -Typical burger (I put this under "junk food" as fast food is implied. Home cooked counts as "regular"). Partial to Wendy's (Jr. Bacons are about $1/ea). Avoid Taco Bell ("airspace" isn't just for jets btw) & McDonald's (McHeartattack, though they own Chipotle which is decent). Support your local mom n' pop places as after a campaign or 2 (frequency) they'll make the connection and throw you a bone for your steady patronage. Good hunting & bon apetite ![]() |
| #142terronusJan 29, 2009 14:45:27 | Support your local mom n' pop places as after a campaign or 2 (frequency) they'll make the connection and throw you a bone for your steady patronage. There used to be a great mom & pops sandwich shop not a block away from the gaming shop where I gamed for several years... they started a few 'gamer specials', like an extra order of fries or an extra sandwich (with a large order) because of how close they were and the number of groups that would visit. Unfortunately, the restaurant eventually closed-- I believe they relocated to another city-- and we were forced to go to the closest Circle K. |

| #175powercatFeb 02, 2009 17:47:08 | My absolute favorite is biscuits and gravy. For the non-Americans on the board, when I say biscuit, it probably means something very different from when you say biscuit. Also, barbecue. Real barbecue. And real barbecue isn't just a food. It's a day. Sitting out in the sun, first weekend of May, tending a homemade smoker with half a hog inside, making sure the temperature is just right, with a drink in my hand. Good times. Good eats. Kansas City is my ideal city: barbecue + live blues and jazz. |

| #195dirtyfrankFeb 05, 2009 15:28:53 | Speaking of meat, I just ate some ribs for lunch. There's nothing like putting meat in your mouth. ![]() |
| #196CrackerjakeFeb 05, 2009 16:36:26 | Speaking of meat, I just ate some ribs for lunch. There's nothing like putting meat in your mouth. O.o My innuendo radar. It beeps. |
| #197minja_dupFeb 05, 2009 18:44:50 | I had meat for breakfast. I had ground hamburger mixed with mushrooms and onions on an open faced bagel sandwich. Very yummy. |
| #198dirtyfrankFeb 05, 2009 18:46:10 | So, do you like consuming meat in the morning? |
| #199minja_dupFeb 05, 2009 19:05:34 | Sometimes meat, sometimes bread, sometimes sugar, sometimes protein shake, and sometimes cold pizza, mmmmm cold pizza. :D |
| #200dirtyfrankFeb 05, 2009 19:08:59 | I always reheat left over pizza. I figured out how to reheat it so that it tastes as good as when you got it. |
| #201minja_dupFeb 05, 2009 19:11:48 | Cold pizza is yummy, the ingredients don't fall off when it is cold. |
| #202dirtyfrankFeb 05, 2009 19:13:45 | That's when they fall off for me. I like cold pizza but sometimes I want it warm so I heat it up. yummy |
| #203sheihelFeb 05, 2009 19:27:24 | Pizza, I like Canadian bacon and pineapple |
| #204minja_dupFeb 05, 2009 19:57:23 | Pizza with sausage and banana peppers. Yummy. Pizza with anchovies and bacon. Pizza with artichoke hearts and broccoli. |
| #205Cpt_MichaFeb 06, 2009 8:50:17 | Today's breakfast? Raisin Bran and milk. What can I say I like sugard raisins. |
| #206dirtyfrankFeb 06, 2009 8:57:04 | Today's breakfast was a "Simply Asia: Roasted Peanut." |
| #207minja_dupFeb 06, 2009 9:18:50 | Breakfast for today was a corn dog and a Kit Kat, and I washed it all down with a tall, cold diet pepsi. |

| #209dirtyfrankFeb 06, 2009 9:23:19 | Diet Pepsi is for girls. ![]() I'm drinking coffee before I go off to work. |
| #210minja_dupFeb 06, 2009 9:30:43 | Diet Pepsi is for girls. Your point? I find men that aren't afraid to drink diet and wear pink... attractive.... ;) |
| #211dirtyfrankFeb 06, 2009 9:36:52 | I'd wear pink (but not purple) but diet is asking a bit much. That is not only torture of the taste buds but also torture of your body. |
| #212Cpt_MichaFeb 06, 2009 9:53:47 | Diet Soda? If it's not Diet A&W Rootbeer, Diet 7up or Diet Dr Pepper it's bloody murder. It's a cruel joke some scientist played on the world. That some how people have deluded themselves into buying. |
| #213minja_dupFeb 06, 2009 11:20:51 | Diet Dr. Pepper is good. So is diet sprite. Purple looks really good on some guys, especially if they have blue eyes. |
| #214Cpt_MichaFeb 06, 2009 11:22:12 | I couldn't wear purple. I just don't like the color. |
| #215dirtyfrankFeb 06, 2009 15:23:44 | Diet Dr. Pepper is good. So is diet sprite. And regular Dr. Pepper and Sprite are better. ![]() Purple looks really good on some guys, especially if they have blue eyes. and are very feminine. Purple should not be a main color of the clothes that a man is wearing. |
| #216roxlimnFeb 06, 2009 20:22:06 | Today's breakfast: Freshly baked pan de sal with thinly sliced keso de bola. Paired with SEAsian (Batangas) coffee. Simple fare, but absolutely to die for. This is every bit the equal of any meal in any 4-star resto. A 5-star resto would and should actually have freshly-baked bread and high-quality cheese and coffee. Off-Topic: I have purple shirts and formal wear. My wife thinks they're sexy. I even have a lavender shirt. |
| #217dirtyfrankFeb 07, 2009 9:49:54 | I had some more of them there noodles this morning. ![]() |
| #218minja_dupFeb 07, 2009 20:58:19 | For breakfast today I had a lollipop. Grape. |

| #221terronusFeb 08, 2009 18:02:31 | I had half a pack of parliment, a fifth of rare reserve vodka! That's heaven in my mouth. |
| #222dirtyfrankFeb 13, 2009 13:15:22 | I like to put things in my mouth.........edible things. ![]() |
| #223IdolisFeb 13, 2009 13:18:53 | Ball gags anyone? |
| #224dirtyfrankFeb 13, 2009 13:19:34 | Chocolate ball gags by any chance? |
| #225IdolisFeb 13, 2009 13:20:48 | No strawberry. |
| #226zombie_babiesFeb 13, 2009 13:21:36 | Strawberry sucks. |
| #227IdolisFeb 13, 2009 13:22:46 | That's the point. |
| #228zombie_babiesFeb 13, 2009 13:26:42 | But then that's not heaven, is it? ;) |
| #229dirtyfrankFeb 13, 2009 13:27:37 | It is for his wife. |
| #230lobo_grimm_dupFeb 13, 2009 13:39:42 | Someone may have mentioned this food, but I really enjoy pot stickers from the chinese buffet. They are really addicting, especially with a good dipping sauce! I could make a whole meal of them |
| #231minja_dupFeb 13, 2009 14:35:48 | Strawberries dipped in chocolate..... |
| #232dirtyfrankFeb 13, 2009 14:37:47 | .........and then stuffed in my mouth to gag me so that people don't have to listen to me talk. ![]() |

| #234roxlimnFeb 13, 2009 21:35:50 | For breakfast this morning, I had salted duck egg, pork adobo, garlic rice, fried spiced milkfish, chocolate rice porridge, and chicken-pork rice porridge. Finished with a coconut-rice sweet dessert. Did I mention that this is an all-you-can eat buffet? For $3.50? It's so good I almost feel guilty for indulging in it. |
| #235dirtyfrankFeb 24, 2009 2:06:16 | Reese's Pieces: Peanut Butter are heaven in your mouth no matter you are. ![]() I need to get more Reese's Pieces. |

| #238dirtyfrankApr 09, 2009 23:45:36 | Isn't that what Alaskan winters are for? |
| #239KillerGMApr 09, 2009 23:46:33 | I actually lost weight this winter. But I'm going to gain it all back because my mom's house is loaded with food I can't resist! |
| #240dirtyfrankApr 09, 2009 23:50:12 | That reminds me. I'm going to be cooking bird (turkey) this Saturday. ![]() |
| #241KillerGMApr 09, 2009 23:51:01 | Wow, big undertaking. Good luck with that! :D |
| #242mock26Apr 09, 2009 23:53:16 | I do not eat to live, I live to eat! As for Elysium in my mouth, I would have to go with warm double chocolate fudge cake with a glass of 40-year old port. |
| #243dirtyfrankApr 09, 2009 23:53:58 | It's not too hard. It's just a little time consuming. Just give the bird some TLC and a bit of time and it will turn out extremely juicy and extremely tasty. Me wantz to make it nowz. |
| #244mock26Apr 09, 2009 23:57:20 | It's not too hard. It's just a little time consuming. Just give the bird some TLC and a bit of time and it will turn out extremely juicy and extremely tasty. My turkey "trick" is to boil up a big pot of water with onions, a bit of garlic, oregano, basil, and a ton of celery leaves and then use this to repeatedly baste the bird. (Once it comes to a boil either simmer at the lowest possible setting or remove from heat.) I also pour some of this directly into the roasting pan to add some moisture to the oven. And, your entire house will smell fabulous from the basting "stew." In fact, this is a great little trick anytime you have people coming over. It makes your home feel so warm and welcoming. |
| #245TouchfuzzyApr 10, 2009 0:00:54 | I just made myself a gigantic glass of chocolate milk... YUM. What I want though... is a chocolate milkshake ![]() |
| #246dirtyfrankApr 10, 2009 0:03:23 | I just brine the damn thing for about 8 to 12 hours. Then when I take it out I give it a rub down. That bad part is that I gotta rub it down in water. Afterwords I rub it down with olive oil then shove cut veggies and herbs into the stomach/chest cavity and slam the thing into the oven gently. Let it cook until done then serve. Well it's a bit more in depth then that but I'm sure people get the picture. |
| #247TouchfuzzyApr 10, 2009 0:04:51 | I just brine the damn thing for about 8 to 12 hours. Then when I take it out I give it a rub down. That bad part is that I gotta rub it down in water. For some reason I kept reading rub it down and suddenly this entire post sounded dirty... apparently I adopted the brain of a 14 year old for a few minutes. |
| #248dirtyfrankApr 10, 2009 0:06:45 | ![]() EDIT: Well you got to rub it down a few times. Rub with cold water before you brine. Rub it with cold water after the brine to get the salt off of it. Rub it down with cooking oil before you shove the veggies and spices in it and toss it into the oven. So ya it gets 3 rubs. |
| #249KillerGMApr 10, 2009 0:07:07 | For some reason I kept reading rub it down and suddenly this entire post sounded dirty... apparently I adopted the brain of a 14 year old for a few minutes. ... or you were reading a dirtyfrank (tm) post. It happens all the time. ;) |

Do those milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard? |
| #252powercatApr 10, 2009 17:49:26 | You know what food is either really good or really bad, but never really in between? Bierocks. They were an occasional special treat when I was growing up, and I always thought they were great. That lasted until I arrived at my current home and discovered the grocery store deli sells them on Saturdays. They are very hit-or-miss, depending on how much time is spent mixing the beef and cabbage. I hate getting a mouthful of nothing but shredded cabbage. Did anyone else grow up with bierocks? |
| #253bob_loblawApr 10, 2009 19:11:40 | You know what I like in my mouth? Fish sticks. |
| #254dirtyfrankApr 10, 2009 19:43:35 | I like putting those in my mouth too. Them are good eatin's. |
| #255dirtyfrankMay 08, 2009 1:03:40 | Anyone want to talk about their good eatin's? |
| #256baneofelvesMay 08, 2009 1:39:22 | Home made meatloaf. Yum. Better than the crap that you'll find in a store. |
| #257dirtyfrankMay 08, 2009 1:40:36 | Ice Cream. I'm fixing some for myself in a few. ![]() |
| #258baneofelvesMay 08, 2009 1:41:54 | I don't know why, but i really want a cup of noodles. I guess it's cuz it's so damn cold right now. |
| #259dirtyfrankMay 08, 2009 21:25:01 | So I went out to dinner to a Mexican restaurant and I had what must have been the most tasty thing ever. On the dish I ordered was shrimp wrapped in bacon. ![]() |
