As some of you may know MGM / SYFY cancelled Stargate Universe, this ends the 14 year run of the Stargate series on TV. If you have any love for Stargate read on.

Below are some links to a campaign / petition to save Stargate Universe. The facebook campaign already has 37,000 fans, please everyone go and check like this page, and sign the petition, then send it to all your friends. Get as many people as you can to join this so we can at least get our movie to end the story line the writers had in the works.

thanks

I did enjoy the last part of the second season. But I think it's doomed and they even hinted at the fact that ratings were not high enough to warrant a tv movie a la sci-fi... I would have liked to see how it ends too, just for the sake of having seen every episode for the lack of any other interesting sci-fi series.

I loved SG1.  Atlantis was okay and I watched it every so often.  Universe I didn't like at all and only saw a handful of episodes.  That's probably why it got cancelled.

Thank god. Those star gate series really sucked.

You seem particularly desperate for attention lately.

Stargate Universe sucked because it was darker than the others.  It had none of the optimism and hope that the others did.  If SyFy/MGM has any kind of intelligence within its organization, they will have a wrap-up, direct-to-video/made-for-broadcast movie showing the successful landing of the crew on a world where they build their community, have their babies, and live reasonably happily ever after.  Maybe even have it so that Colonel Young rises to the occaision, and Rush proves himself to be not such a heartless ass-hat.

They just did that episode a couple weeks back (though it was time shifted copies of themselves).

I dug Universe, at least the two seasons I watched on Netflix (I liked SG-1 until they brought Daniel back, and Atlantis was too formulaic for me).

Good luck!  Though I think it is more realistic to ask for a wrap-up of the series's storyline (much like the Farscape miniseries, which I like to think I helped with ;) ) than to try to get the series extended.

It's just a TV show. Even the best of them come and go (not having seen even a single episode of any Startgate show I don't know if it qualifies for either). It's just not worth fighting for.

It was supposed to be that way.  A re-imagining of the series.  To me, it was quite good overall.  Not great, but so long as you understood the goal and didn't try to force SG1 or Atlantis type of style expectations on it it was a nice ride.
_____________

Also wanted to point out that 37k people does not good ratings make.  If ya want it, yer gonna need a hell of a lot more than that.

I don't mind dark and I loved SG1 and Atlantis but SGU had 2 main flaws.  The first one and most important was that it was boring and kinda sucked. THe second one was I didn't like any of the main character and didn't care about their backstory, who they were or why they were on Destiny. Only a few episodes were actually good and they killed off that dudes girlfriend from the Lucian Alliance. Each other Stargate had a clearly defined baddie with the Gou'ald and Wrath and in Universe you didn't really difind out what was Destiny's mission was  until season 2. There was very little Stargate use in the show and it was kind of a bad rehash of Galactica. Parts of the show were good along with some of the ideas like being stuck on a ship and cut off from earth but it was still boiring with unlikable characters.

Also MGM is in the poo $$$ wise.

particularly

I do not include qualifiers for fun.

If you see a guy who is typically angry, and he is even more angry than usual, you might well comment that he seems particularly angry.

In an odd way, we're responsible for its demise. Its ratings sucked, so its advertiser interest sucked, which made it less likely to recoup production costs which ...well...led to it getting pulled.

and...wow...I haven't been here in like 2+ years :P

Even if you did not like the show, it would be nice if everyone signed the petition, and liked the facebook page to help those who DO like it get the movie to finish the story like we were promised. Who knows one day something you do like will get yanked and we can return the favor in kind Smile

thanks all

Good gaming to all

No, I'm thinking that the fault lies squarely with MGM/whoever made the show.

Because if they'd made a better show to begin with....

Then more of us would've watched it, less of us would've have tuned out, the raitings would've been better & it'd have drawn more interest from the advertisers.

Instead they gave us something that was relitively unpopular.  That's not a winning formula.

Why would I do that?  I didn't like the show.  I'd prefer they moved on & spent the $$ making something better/new, not just more of the same dreck.
BTW, I already voted on this a long time ago- by changing the channel.

You all seem to forget, a campagin like this one did save firefly in a sense, we got the serenity movie due to fans banning together on a petation just like this one to get the movie made.

Im only asking folks to help out the fans of this series, no need to get all silly over it. I assumed we would have some D&D players that did enjoy the Stargate franchise and would like to be made aware of the facebook page.

thanks again everyone

No, that would be the DVD sales that did that.

Actually everyone is onboard for that already. The actors, the writers, the fans, the only one left is the studio that owns the rights and where they will get the funding...

I loved SG-1 and I loved Atlantis both brought a new aspect to the sci-fi genre. The struggle of a normal society to cope with suddenly being put into space with advance technological races that dominated them. Each season they started with little or nothing technological wise and they had to fight for each piece of technology they gathered and overcome a vastly superior enemy.

SGU failed because there was none of that. Their enemy was that they were stranded. They fought amongst themselves. There were no other people or outside influences (until just recently) and they didn't have McKay, I'm sorry but McKay cracks me up. The show sucked because they didn't embody the elements that made the other shows great: finding and understanding new technology, fighting an impossible battle against superior enemies, exploring strange worlds and cultures, trying to follow in the footsteps of an ancient and great civilization.

Personally I want them to drop SGU or change it up. Say they get home and everyone is re-assigned to different teams and then they go on off-world missions and they basically switch between SG-1 and Atlantis or do both at the same time. They can do the 'dark' stuff with it too, that was kind of cool, but without the rest of the SG stuff, its really just a bad knock-off of BSG...

Do you have any reason to believe that he was being honest? Kind of sounds like he was not. Situation: asked about previous work that has massive cult following but is unlikely to be continued. Choices;
A) 'Yeah! In a heartbeat, if only it where possible. MabeyI'll win the lotto or something!'
You come off as a cool guy who wants what your fans want, earning you a few gold stars with no risk.

B) 'No, not really. I'm moving on to other things.'
You risk angering fans, bad choice really.

C) 'So how 'bout thoes Red Sox!'
