#1 arekkusu69 Apr 28, 2009 18:54:45	I was planning to make a webcomic that takes place mostly in a D&D world with D&D monsters and races and stuff. Then I thought, maybe I have to get permission from WotC to do that. I was just wondering if I did have to ask and if I do, how would I go about doing that? Please & Thanks
#2 jimprofit Apr 28, 2009 19:01:53	You don't really need permission for something like that. Not unless you actually plan to get technical with the rules. If it's vague, and simply "hey, here be a minotaur and he's using his +2 axe!" That's no cause for copyright *****ing. I'm no lawyer... But I use common sense, and the constitution lol! You got yahoo messenger dude? I'd love to help you with your comic. I've wanted to write a comic myself but can't draw.

Please & Thanks The guy who knows this in most certainty would be the guy who makes Order of the Stick. Google it, should come up. The comic's premise from the beginning is that it's a D&D 'verse.

As I understand it, as long as you don't start spelling out rules and using trademarked stuff (like beholders or mindflayers) you're in the clear. But yeah, Rich Burlew would be a good source for details, he's a professional and all that jazz.
#5 Macarius Apr 30, 2009 8:42:04	Here's a webcomic that does exactly what you're suggesting, though mostly from the monsters perspective. It's called "Yet another fantasy gamer comic" that uses the monsters and races known in D&D. Though, the author/artist is a 2e Dm, it still relates to any D&D player.
