| #1zombie_babiesFeb 11, 2011 14:17:17 | The thread about Egypt got poofed even though there was no fighting in it whatsoever. Whoever is doing this, I sure hope you're havin' fun. Don't fret too much, OTTers. We have a group. |
| #2homicidal_squirrelFeb 11, 2011 14:20:12 | Yup... just got the email... Sigh... At least we know it isn'tonly Goldy and RH who are being targeted. |
| #3zombie_babiesFeb 11, 2011 14:42:28 | I dunno, they were both one of them was participating. |
| #4homicidal_squirrelFeb 11, 2011 14:43:06 | apperantly it was a violation of section 6 of the CoC. Funny, section 6 of the CoC says: 6. Do not disrupt chat, forums, blog comments or other communication channels. For example: • Spam through repeated posts, or off-topic content by word or intent to forums or comments (scrolling, flooding, polling, or by "bumping" a post more than once in 48 hours) Is it just me? I'm not seeing where anyone did or said anything to disrupt the forums. This section doesn't even deal with political discussions. |
| #5zombie_babiesFeb 11, 2011 14:45:16 | Yeah, that doesn't remotely add up. There was nothing disruptive about any post in that thread. It was pretty much everyone agreeing about everything that was being discussed. Wikileaks Task Force. This, though, is exactly what happens when people report a lot of stuff here. The Zero Tolerance Hammer comes crashing down and the place dies off for a while. Trust me, I've seen it happen more than once. |
| #6homicidal_squirrelFeb 11, 2011 15:09:27 | Just curious, but does anyone know what part of the CoC actually says that political dicussions are banned? |
| #7zombie_babiesFeb 11, 2011 15:12:55 | I don't know if it's explicitly in the CoC, but disruption is and they can call whatever they want disruptive. At one point it was a violation to post a thread about katanas - swear to god. Edition war stuff is also labeled defacto disruptive from time to time. The only place I'm positive political stuff is mentioned explicitly is in the two stickied threads at the top of the forum (well, I know Webster mentioned it and I at least directed people to that thread. can't recall whether or not I specifically made mention of it, though). |
| #8Robin_HoodlumFeb 11, 2011 15:17:14 | Wikileaks Task Force, man... Wikileaks Task Force... ![]() |
| #9homicidal_squirrelFeb 11, 2011 15:22:08 | I remember the ban on Katana talk. Wasn't there also a ban on book reviews as well? It seems a bit of a cop-out to label a topic as a disruption when it isn't disrupting anything. If you start a thread about a book that deals with katanas, the discussion generally stays wwithin the thread. Some people may start other threads about it, but I fail to see how it disrupts the forums as a whole. |
| #10zombie_babiesFeb 11, 2011 15:25:35 | I don't make the rules, man. I just happen to know a piddling few of 'em. It's the price we pay for free access to privately run boards. |
| #11ADHadhFeb 11, 2011 15:27:25 | Katanas are for sissies. Real men use talwars. |
| #12homicidal_squirrelFeb 11, 2011 15:28:45 | If that's the case then I think we need to start a petition to have WoTC hire you as the new rules maker. |
| #13zombie_babiesFeb 11, 2011 15:33:39 | Good. For my first act, I decree that anyone with any magenta in their avatar shall receive a 24 hour ban! |
| #14homicidal_squirrelFeb 11, 2011 15:41:46 | I like the way this is looking already. |
| #15zombie_babiesFeb 11, 2011 15:46:15 | Improper use of an underscore shall constitute a permanent, IP ban of the offending persona! |
| #16IdolisFeb 11, 2011 15:48:17 | Should we bring back the "Ban the Person Above You" game? |
| #17ADHadhFeb 11, 2011 15:52:06 | Idolis, you are banned for threatening other people with ban games even though you do not have the authority to actually ban people. And because I don't like baseball. |
| #18IdolisFeb 11, 2011 15:56:09 | Adh you have been banned for forgetting to put in the "Ban to be lifted:" line. Ban to be lifted: When you learn to admire men swinging clubs at white rats. |
| #19baneofelvesFeb 11, 2011 15:58:25 | Idolis, you have been baned. And banned. WITH NO HOPE OF RETURN. Unless you bring me a salami sammich. |
| #20homicidal_squirrelFeb 11, 2011 21:30:03 | So earlier today I wrote an email to customer service about the Egypt thread being closed. This is their response: ________________________ Thanks for writing in. I understand you may not agree with this action, but Wizards of the Coast staff are the final judges of whether a post qualifies as a disruption. We will take your feedback into account, but cannot reverse this action. I apologize for the frustration this has caused ____________________________ |
| #21Robin_HoodlumFeb 11, 2011 22:15:26 | This is their response: Of course it is. ![]() |

I remember that. There was even a sticked thread about that particular topic being banned, if I remember correctly. |
