My friend ((Thomas?)) said the people here are pretty friendly, so I'd give it a try. I'm not sure what his username is, he's always naming himself after some kind of werewolf or shifter from D&D lore. Or names like Ozz. Buffy-freak. ;)

I guess I'll poke around and get my bearings.

Hi there! I see you're interested in the NeoGeneration Edition War. If you're interested in playing games by post, feel free to swing by the Play-By-Post Haven. There are lots of games always starting up. If you like the free-form RP (like the NeoGeneration stuff), check out the Chaotic Fiction games. Other games are more structured and like "normal" games.

The PbP Haven is a subforum of a larger Play-by-Post and Roleplaying Forum, which features lots of different options. The PbP Haven tends to have lots of little games that are independent of each other, whereas the other ones tend to have them all interconnected (I think). I know more about the Haven, though, so feel free to investigate the other forums at your leisure!

Anyway, to answer your question, dirtyfrank, I sugges you check out the PbP Haven Forum Guide and the Games Currently Recruiting threads (near the end of the latter).

People tend to post "interest/OOC" threads when they're looking to start a game.

You can also just post in the Out of Character Haven to say what kinds of games you're looking for - GMs usually cruise by and will offer spots if they have them.

As for my personal interests... I really like the games of crazy_monkey1956 because we tend to find the same things "cool". I dislike the chaotic fiction games because they are like the RP thread here - way too chaotic for me. :P

But there are lots of games I haven't gotten into because I haven't had the time. I think there is a group of GMs who are going to do a round-robin style game (check out the OOC Haven thread for the discussion). Lots of people started 4E games after they came out. There's also the free trader's league, which is basically a bunch of GMs who put out "wanted ads" for adventures, and people join up with different characters. Seems pretty fun.

If you're interested in playing games by post, feel free to swing by the Play-By-Post Haven. There are lots of games always starting up. If you like the free-form RP (like the NeoGeneration stuff), check out the Chaotic Fiction games. Other games are more structured and like "normal" games. The PbP Haven is a subforum of a larger Play-by-Post and Roleplaying Forum, which features lots of different options. The PbP Haven tends to have lots of little games that are independent of each other, whereas the other ones tend to have them all interconnected (I think). I know more about the Haven, though, so feel free to investigate the other forums at your leisure! Welcome to the boards! :D

I was just helping a new poster! :P Anyway, to answer your question, dirtyfrank, I sugges you check out the PbP Haven Forum Guide and the Games Currently Recruiting threads (near the end of the latter). People tend to post "interest/OOC" threads when they're looking to start a game. You can also just post in the Out of Character Haven to say what kinds of games you're looking for - GMs usually cruise by and will offer spots if they have them. As for my personal interests... I really like the games of crazy_monkey1956 because we tend to find the same things "cool". I dislike the chaotic fiction games because they are like the RP thread here - way too chaotic for me. :P But there are lots of games I haven't gotten into because I haven't had the time. I think there is a group of GMs who are going to do a round-robin style game (check out the OOC Haven thread for the discussion). Lots of people started 4E games after they came out. There's also the free trader's league, which is basically a bunch of GMs who put out "wanted ads" for adventures, and people join up with different characters. Seems pretty fun. Hope that helped! :D
