I had some questions and was interested... but some {removed} must've complained. I can understand if one doesn't want to participate in the talk, but to spoil it for those who are interested is... well, it's assinine, immature, rude, and it pisses me off. PS. Actually, what was political about it? Because we were discussing solving traffic problems through taxes? Just because we were talking about taxes, it is deemed "political"? *shrugs* this place is gonna be really boring...

#10 generalhenry Feb 12, 2010 17:13:25	It was because we where talking about policy.   The article was a conservative response to a liberal policy, I was trying to explain that dismissing on principle is silly. Me I'm neither red or blue, I'm a libertarian.  Which places me is an odd spot when the conservatives and liberals on these boards start bickering, I agree and disagree with both in different aspects. (fyi, I'm not wanting to discuss any policy in this thread, just musing about the nature of the threads. So if I don't respond to part/all of a post don't be offended)

#12 generalhenry Feb 13, 2010 2:59:42	Yeah, it's was odd realizing that I had become a libertarian, I'm a native of the SF bayarea.  I grew up among liberals.  My parents where fully hippies back in the day.   The funniest part was realizing how much of a libertarian my neighbor was, he had the world's largest privately held collection of military vehicles.  Everything from jeeps to tanks to mobile artillery.  He kept then privately because no government would keep them, and they're part of our history.

#21 pluisjen Feb 13, 2010 10:28:32	I understand that you want to discuss things with your friends, but they´re not bolted down or anything... you can move them to a political forum with you Anyway... just saying. I don't really care where you discuss this stuff, but it's easier if you do it where it is allowed. That way you get to keep your username and don't have to cut your discussions short because someone locked the topic.

#24 bone_naga Feb 13, 2010 13:59:20	PBN I was actually just thinking that exact same thing a few minutes ago. I remember there being a thread about private groups a while back. Basically, the groups were still technically bound by the CoC, but since the mods were staying out of the groups, and presumably everyone there would be somewhat likeminded anyway, you could break the CoC all day long without repercussion.

#29 pbn Feb 13, 2010 23:11:32	Assuming it is a private group (and checking shows it is - that's good) - invitations would need to be sent out.  I'd also put up a post of ground rules if I were you.  For example, are there any lines that should be avoided to maintain membership, how will it be adjudicated, etc.
