| #1zammmJun 13, 2011 19:53:40 | Really? Really? Four goals within ten minutes of the start of the first period? Dammit. You're better than this, Luongo. I don't normally care about hockey at all, but when it's a Canadian team, from my province, a quick ferry ride from my home, in the Stanley Cup Playoffs...yeah. |
| #2Robin_HoodlumJun 13, 2011 20:37:59 | If the Pens aren't playing, I couldn't care less about hockey. |
| #3WebsterJun 13, 2011 22:12:27 | Looks like a game 7. |
| #4zammmJun 13, 2011 23:00:50 | Yup. 2-5 loss, so it's on to game 7. Oh well, at least they got two goals on Thomas on his home ice--the guy's been fantastic every step of the way. Gotta respect that. And they'll have home ice for the finals, so that's a huge plus. On the downside, if they lose, the city is going to explode. ...Mind you, it'll explode if they win, too. But it'll be a nicer explosion. |
| #5boraxeJun 14, 2011 8:23:15 | Really? Really? Four goals within ten minutes of the start of the first period? Dammit. You're better than this, Luongo. There are 20 Canadian players on the Bruins vs. 16 on the Canucks. Which one is the Canadian team again? |
| #6zammmJun 14, 2011 11:25:52 | There are 20 Canadian players on the Bruins vs. 16 on the Canucks. Which one is the Canadian team again? I know, but who you're playing for does make a difference. |
| #7boraxeJun 14, 2011 13:07:01 | There are 20 Canadian players on the Bruins vs. 16 on the Canucks. Which one is the Canadian team again? The people they are playing for are the owners of the team. |
| #8homicidal_squirrelJun 15, 2011 21:59:12 | So... the Canadian team won the Stanley cup... Show Really? Really? Four goals within ten minutes of the start of the first period? Dammit. You're better than this, Luongo. |
| #9zammmJun 15, 2011 23:08:31 | *sighs* And not even a good game to finish it off. All that hype for a choke in the final game. ![]() |

| #11ViolenceJackJun 16, 2011 1:25:51 | Yeah, it's so wonderful. Now my friends are getting tear gassed as they try to get out of downtown and go home to avoid those ****ing morons who are rioting. How funny. |
| #12zammmJun 16, 2011 1:58:22 | Why are your friends still downtown three hours later? ![]() |
| #13ViolenceJackJun 16, 2011 2:44:26 | Why are your friends still downtown three hours later? Some people are trapped by the rioters, and I believe that transit is shut down, or at least parts of it are. I don't really know, as I am in Okinawa. But my friends have posted some Facebook updates. Some of them live downtown. |
| #14KlirshonJun 16, 2011 3:06:14 | Your friends should have known better, VJ. The chance of a riot was highly probable regardless of whom won. |
| #15ViolenceJackJun 16, 2011 5:08:32 | Your friends should have known better, VJ. The chance of a riot was highly probable regardless of whom won. Thanks. And what do you say of the friends who live downtown? There were riots in 1994, it's true. Not like this, not even close. What about the people who were watching the musical and got trapped in the theatre? Or the people who were there for their graduation ceremony from highschool, and got trapped in that nearby venue? Should they have all known better? Sorry Your statement is ridiculous. Nobody was expecting the scale of this. Thankfully the police seem to be handling things admirably, but it's going to be one hell of a cleanup job. |
| #16ViolenceJackJun 16, 2011 5:51:06 | I would have forseen it in Montréal. Things get crazy during the playoffs. We get riots and cars burning just after the first round of the playoff. Amazing! But some people just like to see the world burn. Well, last time the Canucks were in the playoffs, there were riots too. But not like this. Not even close. |
| #17homicidal_squirrelJun 16, 2011 10:13:39 | Since when does a Floridian follow hockey? I thought you prefered wrestling? We have a team... ... kind of... |
| #18KlirshonJun 16, 2011 12:00:16 | Your friends should have known better, VJ. The chance of a riot was highly probable regardless of whom won. Human, my sarcasm communicator is set to turn text into italics. Fleshlings are brutish sheep. Horde them together and chaos is bound to happen at the metaphorical drop of a hat. Had the Canucks won, the possible resulting riot would have been a bunch of drunken/mischievous rabble rousers instead of an angry mob. |
| #19zombie_babiesJun 16, 2011 12:25:36 | I was rootin' for Boston even though I don't watch hockey anymore. It was kinda a USA vs Canada thing (even though the rosters show it was the opposite way) and I gotta go USA even if it's Boston in that case. It makes me feel a li'l sick inside cuz Cleveland folks hate Boston teams, but also kinda ok cuz when I was a kid and used to watch hockey, the Bruins were my team. I chose them on the strength of their name/logo/mascot. They were also terrible. So it's nicebad. The riots, however, are just plain bad. People are whining about the police using tear gas, too. Sayin' it was excessive cuz it didn't account for the people that were there but not doing harm. Well, I think we should line the people up that thought it was excessive and pit them against a crowd throwing bottles at them and threatening them with pipes and hockey sticks and see how excessive they'd find it then. It's a damned shame that a small number of a-holes got innocents slightly irritated but that's what happens. Get over it. From what I've read, the cops did a wonderful job. EDIT: At least the rioting didn't kill romance: |
| #20zombie_babiesJun 16, 2011 12:29:48 | The rioters were the violent oppressors in this case. These people weren't protesting gov't injustice, they used a hockey loss as an excuse to vandalise, steal, assault and rob. |
| #21EscherEnigmaJun 16, 2011 12:30:50 | Wait, stopping vandals, thieves and all-around unkind-brutes is a bad thing? |
| #22zombie_babiesJun 16, 2011 12:32:02 | Wait, stopping vandals, thieves and all-around unkind-brutes is a bad thing? Only when done in an official, gov't sanctioned capacity. |
| #23boraxeJun 16, 2011 14:36:33 | A perfect example of cops being violent oppressors. A perfect example of you talking rubbish. |
| #24SebanovichJun 16, 2011 14:40:47 | Vancouver just quit on these series. Boston isn't that great of a team. Vancouver just wasted their opportunity. |
| #25homicidal_squirrelJun 16, 2011 15:18:27 | Since when does a Floridian follow hockey? I thought you prefered wrestling? You sure about that? I thought we only had the Florida Kittens... |
| #26ViolenceJackJun 16, 2011 17:37:27 | Thanks to this idiocy, it is now my sincere wish that the Canucks never make it to the finals again. |
| #27homicidal_squirrelJun 16, 2011 21:00:53 | Since when does a Floridian follow hockey? I thought you prefered wrestling? I stand corrected. |
| #28zombie_babiesJun 17, 2011 10:05:31 | Vancouver just quit on these series. Boston isn't that great of a team. Vancouver just wasted their opportunity. As a Cleveland teams fan, I share your pain. LeBron in Game 5, Mesa in Game 7 ... man, it sucks to watch people just not give a **** when you actually kinda do. And that's why I just don't anymore. Thanks to this idiocy, it is now my sincere wish that the Canucks never make it to the finals again. There's more fun to be had still. Boston's mayor has been interviewed talking about how good the Boston fans are and how nice they were being and how prepared the city and police were and how they just don't do that sort of nonsense ... while completely failing to recall that Boston police accidentally killed a woman - a bystander no less - with a poorly aimed rubber bullet ... during the riots they were havin' ... after the Red Sox won their first World Series. So yeah, some idiot is seeking to profit off of this. Awesome. |
