#1 calronmoonflower Jun 15, 2011 22:57:00	Article I can understand the impulse to keep the FDA from approving "frankenfish" for human consumption, but drafting legislation specifically to target a individual application for approval is wrong. They should change the rules to keep GM foods from being approved without more tests or let the FDA continue as is, rather than trying to micromanage the approval process because they do not like the idea of an application being approved.

I guess we will have to give the GM fish to the starving people in 3rd world countries. Oh wait, environmental wackos don't want that either. Too bad poverty stricken brown people, you're just going to have to starve to death.

Don Young, R-Alaska, offered an amendment to a farm spending bill late Wednesday that would prohibit the FDA from spending money to approve AquaBounty's application. The amendment was approved by voice vote. Young argued that the modified fish would compete with wild salmon in his state.
