I also noticed the article didn't say why the election was improper and thus overruled, just it was. Nice job putting the fact out.

Jun 18, 2011 16:27:40 Oh, there are numerous surveys citing that traffic cams also cause More accidents than they prevent by the way. The article was in a Car & Driver that I read a waays back. If I can find it I'll link it.

Honestly I found links that say just the opposite was well, as well as ones that say that reduce fatal accidents.

The search terms I used where "study traffic cams accidents".

I heard other complaints on the subject about cities that are use red light cameras not increasing yellow light time or adding a short period of all red at covered intersection, but rather letting intersection stay dangerous because they are either taking the lazy way out and not adjusting the light with the implication that they are doing so because it makes them more money.

Jun 20, 2011 15:00:34 Right now they have a wonderful chance to conduct some real research that they won't use. The cameras are still operational but no tickets are being issued. If they make sure as many people as possible know that there's no way they'll get a ticket from a camera captured violation, they'd be able to see if there's a difference in the amount of violations seen. In other words, they'd be able to tell if the cameras actually make people heed the lights more often or not. They won't do it, but the chance is there.
