You've conquered the world. how did you do it?

Me, I gathered great arcane power and became a grand wizard. you don't do what I say? disintegrate (3rd edition style, when it was save or die)

Problem. solution. fixed.

and that's how I conquered the world.

I put a hit out on Pinky.  When the contract was completed, I replaced him.  The slight increase in intelligence was enough to tip the balance over to Brain's favor.  Brain got hit by a bus.  I was his successor.

Which is why all those James Bond villains fail at completing their goals (besides the storyline favoring 007).

So no, I will not reveal my master plan to you humans. I might however give you other leads that could end up being a proverbial "wild goose chase".

Enough remotely controlled androids to run for office in every democratic nation. They would win elections in enough nations (if I do it right) to give me control over a good portion of the planet.

Alternatively: Patent said androids and sell them to various militaries fairly cheaply. Then, have them all stage a simultaneous coup.

Necromancy, 2e style, 10th level magic. There were a couple interesting spells that I can't remember where I got them from, they may have been in the spell compendiums, not sure. One was death plague. Basically in a given area 5-10% of the population died. Combine with undeath plague, all creatures that die within an area become undead. After any given battle, raise all the corpses. Pretty soon undead outnumber the living and those who are smart will capitulate.

Then there was an enchantment spell (I believe it was PO: Spells & Magic) that pretty much let you go inside someone's head and reprogram them, wipe their minds, plant false memories, hidden commands, etc. I would implant a hidden command so that anyone that tried to turn against me would suddenly commit suicide. Furthermore, anyone that found a way around this would have their minds wiped so they could become my puppets. They would make great bodyguards to supplement my undead in case of turning attempts and other such things.

Or do like I did in one campaign where I was a wild mage and the DM let me have a deck of many things. As a wild mage I had a 50% chance to control the deck each time I used it, and had Alternate Reality (replay the last round) in case I couldn't control it and got a bad card. Pretty soon I had 18 CHA, a castle, numerous henchmen, an army, and more wishes than I knew what to do with.

In RL, why bother? I'd just end up killing most of the world off anyway, and since people like to kill each other plenty without any outside provocation, there's no real need for my to get involved.

I'm not quite sure why you love this mixture so much. The mustard is just redundant once you have the VX. If anything, you're just diluting the VX. Now granted the NAK won't work on the mustard, but the mustard isn't likely to kill them, it'll just really reallly really really suck.

Do you start with outposts on every planet first?

I tend to get Creative and Feudal, then blanket the galaxy with outposts to stop my opponents from expanding and then negotiate trade relations.  Then I bide my time until I get stellar converters and evolve telepathy.

Well, at least I conquered Alpha Centauri.  I'll try harder at a military victory on Earth.

I'll start a new game as Hammurabi and rush to chariots.  I'll cross my fingers and hope all the enemies start in Asia/Europe/Africa and try to beat them before 3000 BC.

make an army of mutants using africans to test various genetic treatments on.  Once I have an army of loyal soldiers Id start sending them to other countries to conquor outright in other places Id create a new religion centered on uplifting the entire species and use that to create civil unrest in all 1st world countries.  Id then use same genetic research to create crops that are capable of feeding everyone and ridding the world of most forms of disease.  Id do my best to lift all of hummanity into a modern pax romana spanning the entire globe.

I would not use gene engineered viruses though I would show the world I have that capability to show to bluff them into surrendering faster.  The idea would be to take over the world to help it along not kill millions upon millions of innocents.

I didn't say it can't, just that it's not as likely to do so, especially when compared to VX. And define "common". Chemical weapons themselves are not common. But I digress...

If you want to mix agents, just steal an idea from the commies. First use DM (vomiting agent) followed by nerve agent (I would go with GB but that's because I want to be able to use the land I conquer). That way, everyone gets hit by the vomiting agent, suits up because it's a chem attack, vomits in their masks and can no longer breathe (vomit clogging the mask intakes, covering mouth and nose, not to mention just being nasty as hell) and takes them off just in time to get hit by nerve agent. Or hit them with BZ so by the time the nerve agent attack comes they are high as a kite and have no clue what's going on, nor do they care.

Too dangerous.  Survivors can attempt to overthrow you.  Without total control of everyone you risk losing power.

Better to eliminate the competition.  Everyone is competition.

Alternate version of "conquer" would be genetically.  Then I'd just eliminate all the males and create a genetic bottleneck with me as the cork.

Sorry guys.

As to "how" I'd probably rig up some elaborate trap involving sports or something.

I like to mix it up. Super research race is alright, but kind of easy. Super tough race and board everyone is fun. Telepathic Unification is all sorts of awesome. But I think my favorite is Ssubterranean Unification with Population Growth bonus. Ants eat all.

But no, I don't typically bother trying to stop others from spreading by spamming outposts. I tend to just start murdering people as soon as I find them. <==Terrible neighbor

Your so called unpredictability is just an elaborate parameter system (though I am unceratin why unpredictable behavior is being related to mating verses manufacturing). Humans are.... hardier, in a sense, and suicidally insane. Robots will not really be ready to inherit the earth from us until they are capable of wide spread existence after the destruction of their elaborate support infrastructure, which us humans will inevitably take with us when we go.

Once the earth is largely destroyed, they will need to be selfsufficent enough to outrace the irradiated mutant survivors and roaches in their rebuilding efforts so that they may achieve total dominance in the secondary war of extinction.

Current designs are not sufficently hardy when seperated from their high tech support facilites for long periods of time. Humans can make do with rocks if need be.
