This is old. And it was a problem with the facial recognition software, the programers apparently wrote the program to look for a high degree of color contrast. The problem, as I hear it, was solved by dialing back the contrast requirements.

You could also just brighten up the room it's in so it can differentiate between object and human with a darker pigmentation if I remember correctly.
