If it was rabid its fur would be in bad condition, there'd be foam around its mouth, and it wouldn't go back and forth. It would just go straight at them biting as much as it could. From the looks of it, those guys just kept bugging the poor hamster until it snapped.

I was assuming this was one of those, not a wild one. Speak for yourself, I used to be afraid of my pet hamster. It never bit me in the end, but it did more damage to my brothers than the cat ever did. Poor little Taz has been dead for years now.
