#1 TheMonk Jun 11, 2009 17:44:34	There are 2 things that bother me. Let's start with the first one. It's famous football players... They are always in a relationship with a model. After a couple of months they break up. A week later he has another model girlfriend. They break up. He finds another model girlfriend. Round and round it goes... These players don't do it for the love of the game. Heck they don't even do it for the money once they acquire some. They just want one thing. P****. We all know it. And it's disgusting. The thing is, well...(and I apologize in advance for my language, but I just cannot stomach it so I have to say it), they're male *****s...And it's disgusting. Why people like these footballers is beyond me, because I find them disgusting. What do their families think about this? If I had a son and he was like that, I would be ashamed of him. Famous footballers are a farce, a joke. They are the same as the stereotypical high school jock who wants a girlfriend, and always goes for the hottest cheerleader, who also happens to be the most popular girl in school. They're like teenage boys who only date girls they think will sleep with them, and if she doesn't, they just switch girlfriends. I knew a guy like that in high school, and he's the most disgusting person I ever saw. You don't want to get me started on him... So, why does this bother me, you ask? Truthfully, it doesn't bother me at all. I couldn't care less about them or the women they date. So what is the point of this thread? Here it comes. It's a personal pet peeve of mine and I am going effing crazy about it. I'm a fighter. A martial artist, if you will. Call it as you wish. I'm in great shape because I train a lot and it shows. When people talk to me, and when I mention my training (I never say I train martial arts because, well, trust me you don't wanna be saying that to anyone, you'll only get grief because of it), EVERYONE, and I really mean EVERYONE, ALWAYS, WITHOUT any exception whatsoever, asks me this one question that I have heard about 100 times before: "Do you train football?". And I go f****** crazy. Football is like a god damn disease. When I mention training, I always get that god damn question and it's driving me crazy. What bothers me is that people instantly assume that I am the stereotypical young Zidane wannabe, a 20 year old kid who watches too many football games and whose only goal later in life is to date models, because let's face it, that's the image people have of football players. It's not far from the truth either. The thing is, it's disgusting. I don't want people to look at me like that. An unknown man once entered the gas station I work at, and within 2 minutes he says "you're a fighter, aren't you?" I was surprised, and it was certainly refreshing to hear that among all the "Are you a footballer?" questions. When I asked him how he knew, he told me it shows in my eyes. I guess I just have to vent about this because it's driving me crazy, I hate the stereotypical footballers who date models all the time, because that's the image people have of me when they assume I train football too. And it's disgusting, and I dislike it very much. And no, I don't have long hair. Don't even start with that...

Not really keen on moving to another continent just because some people are simple minded :P Tell them you train to kill people (and you hate being associated with footballers). Believe it or not, that's EXACTLY what I've been telling people lately, only as a joke though. c) Hakuna Matata. Don't worry, be happy. Just relax, enjoy life and stop worrying what other people think. Guess that's best I can do. I just needed to vent because I just hate the whole soccer thing. Never been a fan of it. Heck, I'm a fighter, and I don't even watch K1 or UFC...but maybe that's just because it doesn't make much sense to watch it anyway. Although I do take a look at a fight or two on youtube every now and then.

Football players, while much rowdier and often violent, have not yet been seen to do nothing but chase after little stick-figure women wit eating disorders. Not too mention, real Football is so much more entertaining and requires more skill to play then Handball does. :P

I'll completely agree that professional athletes are grossly overpaid, and on the whole, not likable people. But you are getting awfully worked up because you have the same athletic build as people who make a living being in great shape.

You have Football and American Football. Just because Americans call Football Soccer doesn't make it right. It makes it rather...stupid actually. The game has been called Football before American Football was even around. American Football isn't even interesting...just play rugby. As for the TS. Famous people hang with famous people. Most famous people aren't the most intelligent and usually are among the best looking people. The first paragraph isn't just about sports, but also related to movies and music etc. Football is one of the most important sports in Europe. So it isn't odd that people assume you play that sport as well when you have an athletic body. Just say you play tennis or hockey (No not ice hockey...proper hockey) (also pretty big sports in europe) just to mess with them. My problem is more that pro athletes, singers, movie stars are making way too much money for what they deliver. Especially with athletes. If it were me I'd cut down their income by half and put the other half into the things around the team. As in...the club itself.

Though if you paid 'em McDonald's wages I'd imagine that their love would wane ...

When they get paid and have enough money, it's only about one thing in the end really. It's not like you need billions, heck a few millions will do.
