| #2zombie_babiesJul 03, 2013 8:19:57 | Heh, even if he really isn't he totally should be. Jones is built to beat him down. |
| #3homicidal_squirrelJul 03, 2013 16:47:45 | Yeah, Jones Silva is a great fighter, but Jones seems built to beat the hell out of everyone he fights. I mean, the way he outwrestled Sonnen makes you think that he would o even worse to Silva. And that ridiculous reach advantage Jones has takes a lot out of Silva's striking game. I'm not sure how I feel about the Silva vs Weidman fight. I want Weidman to win1, but if he did, that would put a stop to a Silva vs Jones fight. 1 Yeah, I know, extremely unlikely, but still... |
| #4zombie_babiesJul 05, 2013 7:50:46 | I don't know that Silva would actually take the fight anyway, though. It'd pay a crapton but he's already loaded, yanno? Plus it'd hurt his legacy. Then again, if he somehow won he'd be an even huger legend. |
| #5homicidal_squirrelJul 05, 2013 8:42:13 | The real question is how much of his unstable hype does Silva believe? Granted, much of that hype is well deserved, but it's one thing to take on the guys at MW. It's another thing to take on the wrecking machine that is Jones. Homes is a big guy. He has a reach that is bigger than most heavy weights. He has ridiculous strength makes his wrestling that much more and dangerous. And gave it, while Silva is a well rounded fighter, his wrestling is his weakness. Sonnen took Silva down at will in their first fight. He took Silva down easily I'm the first round and kept him their I'm their second round. If it hadn't been for the misstep I'm the second round, I think Sonnen would have taken Silva down again and the fight would have liked much like their first. Jones rag dolled Sonnen. Imagine what he would do against Silva I'm the wrestling department. Jones is just too big, to string, to quick. It's a similar situation with Silva fighting GSP. Silva is the much bigger guy. He is to string and too quick. GSP doesn't want to fight Silva because he is smart enough to know that he is at a distinct disadvantage. Let's see if Silva is smart enough to realize the same thing when it comes to fighting Jones, or if he will entertain us and get wrecked at a lopsided super fight. |
| #6zombie_babiesJul 05, 2013 12:00:49 | Yup. I mean, it makes a lot of sense that the fight he says he'd rather have is GSP. He's no moron. Jones is exactly the wrong type of fighter for Silva to face. |
| #7homicidal_squirrelJul 05, 2013 14:13:59 | Well, to be fair, Jones is the wrong type of fighter for most other fighters to face. I mean, look at what he did to Machida. Machida, I think, has a much better ability of getting in, striking, and getting out than Silva. Even with all that, Machida was left a crumppled heap on the canvas. |
| #8zombie_babiesJul 05, 2013 15:11:00 | Yup. It's just that Silva is really awesome except against guys with, well, Jones' exact style. And Jones is the best at that style so it's even worse for Silva, yanno? But yeah, Jones is on another level period. |
| #9homicidal_squirrelJul 05, 2013 15:24:16 | Well that, and I don't think Jones is going to get scared by the Silva myth. That seems to be what beats most guys. They walk in already defeated. I think that's the one thing that Weidman has going in. It may be the only thing, really. His wrestling is good, but I'm not sure it's good enough. And his striking isn't on Silva's level. Too bad Silva and Machida won't fight. That would be awesome to see. They are two of the best strikers. It would be a good fight until one of them got knocked out. The question is, who would get knocked out? |
| #10zombie_babiesJul 05, 2013 15:33:55 | Yeah, I've always wanted to see that. Not just cuz of their striking, either - they have the best D in the UFC so the fight would be a friggin' chess match. Odds are you'd see some pretty interesting techniques cuz normal stuff just ain't gonna work. Lots of faking, too. Man, it'd be like ballet. Too bad it won't happen. I'd rather see that fight than Silva/GSP. |
| #11homicidal_squirrelJul 05, 2013 18:05:01 | Yeah, it could be an epic chess match of strikes and dodges... or it could be an epic bore when all they do is throw fakes and they're both too gun-shy to comit to throw anything that would land. |
| #12zombie_babiesJul 08, 2013 8:58:19 | True. They could totally sorta puss out. Then again, a certain one of 'em could maybe drop his hands and stick his chin out, too. That can be fun. ![]() |
| #13homicidal_squirrelJul 08, 2013 12:45:02 | I don't know even if Silva did stick his chin out for Machida to hit, Machida has become too gun shy to take the opportunity. |
| #14zombie_babiesJul 08, 2013 12:49:59 | Heh, true dat. Oh! I so totes know how that fight would end! Twin front kick double KO!! ![]() |
