Seriously. In my chair.
I blame the DM... and the beer.

I have discovered I have much more fun and am more spirited when I DM.
But I'm really not that interested in DMing anymore... except for the game that I am still helping playtest (it's been over a year and, frankly, I am losing interest).

My passion is returning to my "first love"... wargaming!

Problem is finding players savvy enough to play (and offer competition).
I can teach my brother the mechanics and rules, but he still don't "get it", and doesn't really know how to effectively use his forces...

When this happens it does NOT mean "OMG! Quick, sell off all of _________". No, it merely means that it's time to put whatever it is away in the closet/on the shelf for awhile & go play something else.

So now you're looking for fellow players....
Sure, see if those around you (who don't already play) are interested. If they are? Be prepaired to be patiant as they experience the learning curves involved with whatever game it is.
It simply takes time for people to get good at games.
If you want already established players? 1st go to your local shops that sell the games. See if there's already a group of regulars who play. 2nd, go to the various websites dedicated to whatever the game - see if there's any one local posting.

The best thing to do? Never lose all contact with the various factions of gamers in your area - even if you do tend to play only one type of game for long stretches. It's alot harder to start over than it is to be one of the guys who only plays now-and-then.

Jul 05, 2010 13:55:08 If you play either variant of Warhammer and are in the Michiana area, I just recently got back into wargaming again. I had to take a break when I deployed 22 months ago.
