To quote Wesley Snipes as Blade, which was his best role ever, "Some are always trying to ice-skate uphill." Also, drugs.

A thread about drugs? No, as that would be against the CoC. Stop trying to get people in trouble, jerk.

No, I just don't like people. :-p
As for the shoes, they're different. People are just afraid of looking different in them. They are amazingly comfortable. My girlfriend hated them. When I told her I was going to get a pair she said she wouldn't go out with me in public. Then I got her a pair and she loved them.  She wore them on a trip she took to Las Vegas.

It's not too bad here at the moment to be honest, our economy is pretty strong despite the fact our government is made up of squabbling children - most of which I blame on the fact our population consists of a lot of narrow minded, uneducated bogans who just don't understand what they're voting for.

The only reason the mortgage is killing me at the moment is I had to stop working full-time a few weeks ago when my knees gave out and since I was working on a casual rate for the extra money rather than full-time - I had to give up my position to take time off for physiotherapy. On a good note I made a super fast recovery thanks to utter impatience at being crippled >.< and a very good physiotherapist - even was allowed to start basic dance classes again this week   but I've been warned off returning back to my previous hours until I've rebuilt my strength back up, etc etc blah blah. Basically they said standing, walking, running around for 8 - 16 hours straight each day was a stupid idea and I should stop. So just going to take some time off work, finish my degrees off and try to go back into PA/Business Consulting work and/or sole-trading with my gaming/e-sport work again. Not looking forward to the money struggle ahead of me :S been awhile since I've had to budget this strongly.

Stay tuned for the next segment of this is Domika's Life - the story you didn't ask for but are going to get anyway.

What happened to the knees?  I know why mine hate me - overuse.  Martial arts and hunting for over 20 years kinda puts a beatdown on body parts like the knee.  ;)
#43

domika

Jun 27, 2013 14:02:11
Well mine is a mixture of overuse and stress/tension. The muscles in my thighs were so tense they were tearing the tendons within my knees. Just didn't stretch, eat properly and keep my strength training up, let work and study take over and stopped looking after myself.  I should know better, I've done 11 years working on and off in restaurants and bars, 12 years or so of dance training/dance work, and two years of MMA (though nothing too extreme, mostly grappling and western sword).

Just let a few rough personal years bury me, let my health go and then I buried myself in work/study when I got back to Australia so I could buy a new place and start over.
Now that I have my place and both my degress are one year off I dont really have an excuse not to be getting back into it all, just have to be patient with building everything back up again so I don't injury myself and have to start from scratch. Not to mention letting the whole tight budget thing act as an excuse to not go out and do **** >.<

Yup, the thing to do is remember to take it easy ... which is the hardest thing to do.  Seriously, you'll have days where you feel awesome and push it just a li'l bit and that's how you reinjure yourself.  It sucks, too, cuz you really wanna get back to the level you think you're at but really aren't just yet.

Oh well, at least the personal stuff is better, right?  I mean, that's the toughest crap to fix.  ;)
#45

domika

Jun 27, 2013 14:21:38
Yeah. I did that mistake already about two weeks ago when a local dance studio had a series of new hip-hop and b-boy classes they were trialing. Convinced a gf who hasn't danced before to go then went as 'morale support' - think I danced more than she did. Ended putting myself back into the can't-walk-for-a-week stage. But yeah my physiotherapist has been a dream ((which he should be for what I pay him lol)) and even he's impressed with how well the recovery is going so I have high hopes I'll be back to it reasonably soon.

And yes the personal stuff is getting much better ^^ I didn't get married for one ;) and I have a fantastic group of friends, drinking buddies and gaming mates that keep things in focus for me. I'm a bit of a work-a-holic so I can be a hermit at times lol but branching back out again since I use to be quite a social butterfly before the whole lets-try-some-serious-relationships-oh-wait-I-suck-at-this experience and I'm enjoying getting that back. Especially the gaming side of it.

Two degrees? In what if I may ask?

A while back I injured my right knee a while back. I ended up tearing my MCL. I was moving and I was unloading the moving truck, and I came down akwardly and got injured. My knee was prety bad. Not bad enough that it required surgery, but bad enough that walking for prolonged periods of time was painful, and my knee was not very stable. It wasn't supporting weight well at first, which made getting up from the floor a terrible expirience. This made work a pain. Fortunately after some rest and therapy, it healed up. Then I reinjured it. So yeah, terrible stuff having knee injuries.

Haha well while I was enrolled at the studio we use to do paid work for charities, casinos, variety nights, etc I was also a student teacher for 4 - 6 yr old Ballet and private exam training in Tap and Jazz. After I graduated from there at 18 I taught for a few more months then at 19 moved to teaching pole dancing (( was around the time that whole pole fitness craze started )) at a club in the city for a year and a half before I moved overseas and dancing just went back to being a hobby.

Not sure how much I will have to offer in the way of MMA discussion tbh I haven't really kept up with the scene at all :S sry

Bachelor of Business - Marketing and Public Relations & Bachelor of Arts- Internet Communication and Design. Before those two I was doing a Double Bach in Secondary Education - Modern History and English but didn't enjoy the course so went and got certified in Small Business Management and just worked instead.

Ouch!! I am a bit concerned about future injuries. I know if I give it time it should heal well but still, there's always that added chance of it screwing up again now Why I really need to stop doing hospitality work and just accept I may have to go back to office work zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
