No I'm not leaving ya'll forever or something silly like that.

You're still stuck with me. Whether you like it or not :P

In about 30 minutes, I'll be going to the eye doctor to get my eyes checked to get contacts.

I'm a very happy camper right now, just letting ya'll know what's up.

I know it will be difficult. But you will have to manage.

Remember Bane shouldn't eat spicy food for breakfast, make sure Zombie Babies links his hell porn. Dirtyfrank is to stay dirty.

And pigknight is to stay piggy.

I might not make it back today, it's a full on day excursion (lots of stuff to do) and over the weekend I won't be here like usual.

It should... though it's really screwed up my sense of timing when it comes to braking for the turn.

I eat spicy food all the f*ckin time. And I just ate spicy food for breakfast! So go Chinco To mama !

And it makes you really cranky when you do it! So quit! plus it's gonna give you heartburn later on in life. lol

Don't despair. What you gain (basic awareness; seeing them clearly across the room so that you can even recognize/possibly engage them) is better than what you lose (theoretics on the "turn off").

Besides, would you want to be w/ a girl that was that petty? It's not like you can't take them off before you do the grown up. Contacts? Lasik?

Contacts do everything glasses do but better :P

Only thing I don't like about my contacts so far is putting the left one in every morning. (the right gives me no problems at all)

Eventually I'm so getting lasik done. It'll be like Contacts, but without the putting them in and taking them out part!

Hope the contacts are treating you alright Cap. It took me a long time to get used to them (the first time I had to put them in by myself it took me 4 hours) but I'm happy now. Plus those of us with contacts can just take them out and put glasses back on when we need to look classy.

Contacts just seem like one of them crazy modern things than any sensible person would say no to. By sensible I mean the average 10 year old, generally in todays society you get the most wisdom out of people in that age group. Lets see what an encounter with a 10 year old on the subject of contacts might be like,

Adult - "Hello there Timmy, how would you like to place these little lenses on your eyeballs every day, if you lucky you might even get one stuck or poke yourself in the eye several times each morning."

Timmy the 10 Year Old - "That seems real interesting mister but I'm pretty sure sticking anything in my eye is bad."

Nothing good can come from people sticking things in their eyes, don't do it!

Needles are ok. ;)

*L* I have yet to poke myself in the eye. You aren't supposed to jam them in you know :P

celloshane oh yes they are working out just fine so far. It takes me about 10 minutes to get them in. (first day took about 30!) heh my glasses are so beat up that if I wore them I'd look less classy lol.

Ok, to get to the point; far/near-sighted, stigmatism, x-planar vision, seeing ghosts, infra-red migraines, telescopic inspector gadget pervo mods, what?

Me, a bit near-sighted, but still Class 'D' opearator, no restrictions (no corrective lens, Ohio). ie) I can drive w/out them, but I'm guessing they'll punch my ticket when I re-up on my b-day this year (new plastic -> new eye test). Otherwise, it's shades in day transit, though glasses come out if it's a new place/unfamiliar/wonky directions. 'Scription ones at night, movie theatre, occaisional rock show/symphony, paintball/shooting, and FPSs @ home.

Never got contacts; very sensitive eyes, apprehension, or perhaps, simply, unwilling to go through the hassle since I wear these so intermittently. I knew senior yr high school if I wore them all the time, I would become more dependent upon them. '95 to present; so far so good, still legal w/out.

Anyway, if you're myopic Micha, sometimes it corrects itself. We tend to get far-sighteded in our later/golden years for what it's worth, hence grandpa's reading glasses for old timey porn.

You're doing better than me! Sometimes it still takes me 10 minutes to get mine in, I guess my eyes are fairly sensitive. Still, I prefer the freedom of contacts. I just have to remember not rub my eyes while I'm scanning my health insurance docs for a loophole that allows laser surgery :P

"Your papers please..."

Sorry, couldn't pass this up. Btw, it's just a terrible coincidence (German, monocle, etc). Left over .jpeg from a heated mechanics debate a few months ago in Previous Editions.

What a great idea for a comedy, right? Allied prisoners in a P.O.W. camp? Wtf?

...yeah, I know that's sort of the problem. See, if I was French, no problem - "yeah, wearing a monocle, somewhat odd guy, whatever". But as a German, that's an immediate throwback to good ol' 19th century times - or, in most foreigners' imaginations, to not-quite-so-good ol' Wehrmacht times. You fall in with the stereotype immediately. It's what's kept me from doing it so far (that, and financial concerns). Ah well, maybe I'll one day muster the strength to not care...

...which isn't to say that your inspirational poster doesn't fit me perfectly ;).

I feel you. Basically, in the West as you say, you fall into 2 types of established stereotypes when wearing a monocle:

1) The strict, authoritative German task master. "Verbotten! Du bist ein hund!" (German's a little iffy, sorry if I butchered that)
2) The stuffy English blue blood, usually at a foxhunt or gala. "Geeves, another bottle of our finest for our colonial frien- pardon, what did you say your name was again?"

Then the ultra rare bohemian artiste type that sports a monocle...with vintage chucks, a witty polisci 'T', and expensive "worn" jeans. $150 for the homeless look.;)

Yeah, who knows, maybe I will get there one day - my friends are slowly getting used to my crazed antics coming up every now and then, and my contacts to other people who might mind the the cliché thing is minimal (as is mutual interest ;) ), so there really shouldn't be too much stopping me. After all, I already do have the silver pocket watch to go with it...
