| #1drgofxMay 02, 2012 12:35:08 | So I'm new to the DnD Tabletop and I was looking for some insight. For starters, my only experience with the game is its MMO counterpart, where I played a Halfling Rogue and a Warforged Paladin. Aside from that, I am very inexperienced. I have never really had any people near me interested in DnD, let alone play it, and since I'm heading to a community college next year, I was hoping this would be a good oppertunity to get into Dungeons and Dragons. I'm a big RPG fan and I think this would get me a bit more into the actual Roleplaying part of it without as many restrictions. [Or so I've heard...] So could anyone try and point me to a guide on how to play? Or recommend which edition I should start with? From my experiences with the MMO, I'm fairly familiar with 3.5, or as much as of it as the MMO has. |

The OTT is not for D&D trolling, but it is for non-D&D trolling. If you want to troll about something other than D&D, then feel free to make a thread here. |

Secondly, what part of the forum should I go to for advice on starting D&D? I didn't really see anything, so I assumed Off-Topic would be the safest place, I assumed wrong. |

And the definition of trolling depends on who is reporting and which ORC mods your post. Secondly, what part of the forum should I go to for advice on starting D&D? I guess new players aren't that common. I passed by there, but I saw that as more of where experienced players got advice on their own plays, not where new players go. My over thinking got the better of me. Sorry about that. |

Its not that, its just that we've had 'newbies' come in here before and start trouble only to turn out to be a sock puppet for someone else. Also the forums are not exactly the most friendly place. I don't know why though (what? why are you looking at me like that Zombie_babies?) Your best bet is just to find a group and tell them you are new to the game, they'll take it from there and indoctrinate...uh I mean teach you how to play the game... |
