#1 jesse.two.coins Jan 31, 2011 7:05:30	In light of recent events that most of you know about. I picked up a new phone, its called a samsung freeform (www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=22...) I'm attempting to see why some of you guys are so steadfast about your phones also I'm hoping this one isn't desireable enough to rob me over
#2 pluisjen Jan 31, 2011 7:32:14	I doubt you'll be able to find out why people are so steadfast over "dumb phones" if you actually use them  The reason I love my dumbphone is because it can be on standby for 3 weeks, and it comes for cheap with no subscription. If I were to make serious use of a mobile phone, it would be crap... but I don't, so I love it, because it's sturdy (I've dropped it a dozen times, the outer shell is cracked and scratched, I keep it in my pocket with my keys) has good battery life and does what it should do with no learning required to figure out the crapton of functions on it (because it doesn't have any) It's also a Samsung btw but I can't find any pictures of it and it doesn't have a model number... it's one of the old ones that you have to click open with no camera or anything. It has a color display, that's about the most modern thing it does.

If you want a computer that can send email and allows you to read the newspaper online, there's nothing wrong with a 5-year old budget machine. Just because people look funny when you use something that's "so last year" doesn't mean it won't perform perfectly for what you need it for. As my phone clearly shows

Just because people look funny when you use something that's "so last year" doesn't mean it won't perform perfectly for what you need it for. As my phone clearly shows   i really do miss the quality of the iphone though
#10 pluisjen Jan 31, 2011 8:49:43	That probably means you use it too much, and a dumb phone isn't for you  Unless you're referring to call-quality, in which case you just purchased the wrong phone, or some other kind of quality  Dumb phones should work just fine for what they're designed for...
#11 iqwinn Jan 31, 2011 21:11:56	My wife and I have phones that are about 6 years old now.  We got them on Verizon's cheapest plan (about $60/month, and that covers BOTH phones), which no longer exists.  So, if we upgrade our phones, it means that we have to get a new plan, which starts at about $70/month for just one line.  In today's economy, we've decided that we're happy with our old phones.
#12 Qube Feb 01, 2011 1:05:11	I'm using a Nokia 2760. I like it because I work with Computer-to-GSM software. And I won't risk the heafty price of a smartphone to find out "Oh, I'm sorry, your phone is not compatible."
