Dec 26, 2009 0:19:01 So, as you will all soon find out, I am in a band right now. We really don't have any songs done yet, but our style at the moment is like a mix of metal and punk. As soon as some of my changes are implemented (I'm the brains behind the operation) It'll be a bit more along the lines of hardcore thrash/nu-metal. The songs are pretty much going to be about everything in life (we'll make controversial political and religious statements, stuff about the usual crap we all go through in life, and every now and then funny randomness), but most of it is going to be pretty dark, from what I've gathered.

NOW. I'm not in the mood to practice, none of my bandmates are here, and I'm bored. I'd like some suggestion for band names. Everything we come up with turns out to be too close to the name of a band or song that at least one of us likes. Example: I suggested December Ashes, which we then remembered was a song by In Flames. Yar. We shot it down just for that. So....the winner will get.....um. Maple syrup. And pie.

But.... but...

see whips and chains are like used for torture and stuff and that's pretty dark..... and kinky ;)

sure it sounds like guns and roses but then again two words with 'N' between them will sound like it. But you probably could see guns n roses are (-) and (+) or death and love type title. I dont' see that with the whips and chains type title. you could have it mean a torture type style or bdsm. sure people would have their first impressions but it would all depend on your type of music. Although I'm sure if ya guys do some metal style love songs some might associate it with bdsm stuff. ;)

We're getting used to each other's playing styles, plus our more experienced bandmembers are usually too busy smoking or skirtchasing, and the rest of us are still learning. Just give us time. Bout half a year and we might make something halfway decent.

I was being snarky in a semi-truthful sort of way. I know you guys suck, it's the Way of things. Myself, I'm a writer by avocation. I love to write.

I go back and look at my masterpieces from even a few years ago, and wonder how I ever thought that tripe was good. Answer?

It's all in developing your skills, attitudes, and teamwork. I'm lucky. My art requires no one but myself and my tools. I can do it anywhere. For you, you have to work on your teamwork, your own skills, and still talk someone into hiring you. It takes 10,000 hours for someone to develop enough skill to potentially make a living at what they do.

Me, I'm up to about the 7500 mark, and the stuff I wrote in hour 1 looks childish in the extreme.

So yeah, chances are, newly formed Band, you suck. Law of nature :P So I was a little snarky at it. I still suck, and compared to others, I forever will.

Nah. I am learning fast, but not that fast. And then the lack of commitment of the others....yeah. THIS band will not be going anywhere, unless Mother Chaos randomly chooses us for greatness. I think I will go with DF's suggestion. It seems fitting for this group of losers (myself included. I should have practiced today, but I was too lazy to.)

Well odds are, once they do make it big they wont suck. or at least as bad as they do now. Just going for a theme they could pick. Even better if they use title like this on their first big hit album if they become the next big thing since sliced bread.

That could probably also work as an album name. well the full part of it. The shortened version could be the band name and stuff. It might be a good name to have if they are to be political or something. Go with being called the long version of the name but have TnA be put on all their junk. Maybe if they make an album with tons of love ballads they could instead use TinA. But I do think it could make a good album name if they make a political filled album or something.

Pop/Pop Rock: HELL TO THE NO! There is some easy(ish) rock and metal. We're starting off with learning some Slipknot, Evanescence, Korn, Papa Roach, and The White Stripes.
