| #1IdolisFeb 11, 2009 12:57:48 | For purposes of this exercise, Jigsaw moves his roadshow to Miami. We are using the original Jigsaw and not one of his "freed" minions. Also, Jigsaw has captured Dexter's wife and her kids (which will definitely tick Dexter off.) Jigsaw beats Dexter on the sadistic scale hands down but Dexter has proven himself to be not adverse to pain (breaking his own wrist to escape a serial killer). If Dexter had been the doctor in the first movie, the movie would have ended in the first 20 min because he would have seen the supposedly dead body and tried to use the saw to fashion a lockpick from the body's bones. Okay, 3...2...1 Go! |
| #2KillerGMFeb 11, 2009 13:03:43 | Anyone > Jigsaw. I haven't even seen the Dexter show (but it's on my Netflix :P), and I'd bet on him. The Saw movies were ... transparent, at least to me. |
| #3IdolisFeb 11, 2009 13:11:13 | I agree whole heartedly. Dexter is just super cool. |
| #4rakeFeb 11, 2009 13:14:14 | What's the story with this Dexter show? I was considering putting it on my Netflix too, 'cause it looks... different. So he's a serial killer or something? But he's a good guy? |
| #5IdolisFeb 11, 2009 13:19:45 | Dexter is a serial killer that hunts for other serial killers. You could say he's a serial killer with a heart of gold. He is psychotic and tries to fit in with regular people. He works for the police department as a blood spatter analyst and forensic technician. He has a girlfriend with two kids but his "love" for her is more like respect for her innocence than any true feeling. |

But he's a good guy? Depends on your definition of "good guy." He's a serial killer, but he only kills other serial killers. The main arc revolves around him slowly learning to empathize with the people around him, and how that impacts his hobby. The actual murderizing mostly happens offscreen and is actually pretty clean. He's one of the few great unreliable narrators on TV, in my opinion. Each season takes place within the arc of a murder investigation pursued simultaneously by Dexter on his own and as a member of the police force. |
| #7rakeFeb 11, 2009 13:26:35 | So he murders serial murderers, serially? Ok, that's going on Netflix. Is his compulsion psychotic, or based on a twisted sense of justice? |
| #8IdolisFeb 11, 2009 13:27:41 | A little of both. |
| #9lofgrenFeb 11, 2009 13:31:52 | So he murders serial murderers, serially? Ok, that's going on Netflix. Mostly psychotic. A little bit of justice. However, I do believe he is unreliable. It starts becoming pretty clear partway through the first season that Dexter doesn't really understand himself as well as he lets on. |
| #10space_dragonFeb 11, 2009 13:59:09 | So he murders serial murderers, serially? Ok, that's going on Netflix. He thinks that he's a violent psychopath and that he needs to slake his bloodlust, so he hunts down people who deserve it (other demented murderers). As the series goes on, however, I've begun to suspect that Dexter ISN'T actually a psychopath; he just thinks he is due to his bizarre upbringing. I'm not absolutely sure, of course, but that's my theory. Anyway, I think Dexter wins. Unless Jigsaw has some way of knowing Dexter's little secret (which no one does), he's bound to SEVERELY underestimate him. Even if he does somehow know, Dexter has years of experience in scourging people like Jigsaw, and his skill, devotion, and (and this is important when fighting Jigsaw) pain tolerance border on superhuman. My prediction is that Dexter gets hurt (and he might lose a family member or two, unless he's super careful with this one), but in the end, Jigsaw finds himself wrapped in Seran in Dexter's garage, slowly murdered and dismembered over the course of several hours. |
| #11lofgrenFeb 11, 2009 14:19:37 | This round goes to Dexter. Jigsaw is more creative, which may give him the upper hand at first, but both of these guys are too compulsive to seal the deal immediately without the proper ritual (Dexter will forgo his ritual if cornered, but it's obviously not his first choice). Dexter is smarter, more methodical, and possibly more brutal. If he gets half an edge against Jigsaw, the game will end. The only possible way Jigsaw gets out alive is if he forces Dexter to choose between killing him and saving his family. In that case, Jigsaw just loses both arms, both legs, nose and ears, and maybe his love handles, eyes, and all his teeth if Dexter manages to remain calm enough to remember to take those parts. |
| #12IdolisFeb 11, 2009 15:03:26 | I gotta say I thought Jigsaw would be getting more love than this. Where are the Saw fans ? |
| #13space_dragonFeb 11, 2009 16:40:40 | I gotta say I thought Jigsaw would be getting more love than this. Where are the Saw fans Its not a question of fandom so much as the power level of the characters in question. I think Link is cooler than Superman, but that doesn't mean he could beat him in battle. |
| #14IdolisFeb 11, 2009 16:49:58 | I see your point. I thought the match up was pretty good but on closer inspection it isn't a match at all. It's still fun to think about though. |
| #15baneofelvesFeb 11, 2009 17:57:17 | I say the battle goes to Dexter Morgan. |
| #16minja_dupFeb 11, 2009 18:08:50 | DEXTER wins, without question. He is the best serial killer hero, EVAR! DEXTER DEXTER DEXTER DEXTER DEXTER ![]() |
| #17IdolisFeb 11, 2009 18:13:49 | My life is now complete. Minja posted on two of my threads. Whoo Hoo, Yippee, Hoorah. |
| #18baneofelvesFeb 11, 2009 18:14:22 | Oh no. Dexter fangirls. RUN! EVERYONE! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!! |
| #19minja_dupFeb 11, 2009 18:17:28 | Oh no. Dexter fangirls. RUN! EVERYONE! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!! Dexter is SOOOO cute. ![]() He can investigate my murder anytime. ...wait... that doesn't sound right.... |
| #20IdolisFeb 11, 2009 18:20:25 | Dexter is SOOOO cute. My wife says the same thing. |
| #21baneofelvesFeb 11, 2009 18:20:31 | ![]() |
| #22minja_dupFeb 11, 2009 20:03:44 | Dexter FTW!!! |
| #23Crimson_ConcertoFeb 11, 2009 20:06:43 | I don't know why some of you people think Dexter is even worthy of Jigsaw's precious time... ![]() Sure, Dexter might get out of whatever Jigsaw puts him in, but after that, Jigsaw's long gone. Heck, if Dexter find him, it's just because Jigsaw wanted him to find him and has more plans for him... |
| #24That_Blasted_SomoflangeFeb 11, 2009 20:29:17 | I would have to go with Dexter as well. Jigsaw seems to be a bit of a showman, and therefore Dex would be able to track him down and deal with him. As for the Superman vs. Link, Link would win hands down. Rupees are made of kryptonite. That and the Mastersword is magic, and Supes is also susceptible to magic - hence Captain Marvel being able to hold Supes over his head and say 'Shazam!' repeatedly and hurt him. Back to Dexter, he is a psychopath - he has a desire to kill, as a child he limited himself to animals, but as the series progresses, I see him as becoming more 'human' and less monster, because of Rita and her kids, which when a **** was taking pictures of her daughter Dex referred to her as 'his' daughter. I think the character is getting a genuine feeling of love for Rita and her family - his family. |
| #25pigknightFeb 11, 2009 20:41:14 | Shadowpaw wins. He's eviler and I'm pretty sure neither Saw nor Dexter are level 17 (solo) lich necromancers with a cult. :P Seriously though I'd say Dexter...I need to watch that show though... |
