He's big and tall, and usually moves slowly and carefully except when faced with a fight...then he breaks out the bone breaking kung fu, he is thoughtful and great at problem solving, knows very little magic, Has vast martial arts training, is mysterious, quiet, solemn, and has a dark sense of humor. His greatest strength is perseverance. He is a protector, provider and leader. I am average sized, quick, moody, can be mean and hold grudges, fight passionately but would probably die a lot and need healing potions, protective to the point of controlling, intuitive, resourceful, and have some military experience. Any idea's? I don't know much about the D&D world but want to impress him by conveying an idea using us as D&D characters. Help me out here. What creatures would we be? what items would we probably carry? what abilities would we have? I want to be able to say to him something like; "honey, you are a Level 8 giant with +3 intestinal fortitude and a cape of great fortune" Only to impress him it has to be legit. I'm hoping I don't have to pour over thousands of D&D books to find this stuff...I'm counting on you to help me out!
#2 killerdungeonmaster May 20, 2008 1:50:40	If he is as intelligent as you say he is, then you have already impressed him mightily to have him as your husband. Also, if you need to be "legit" there is no by-passing actually learning about the game. Try this on for size, instead... He does something awesome for you - "Babe, you critted* my heart with your love." He does something none-too-bright - "Ah, honey don't feel too bad, we all fumble** every once in a while." *Crit, critical, critted = the best type of outcome for an attack in combat **Fumble = a major oops *****
#3 straw_man Jun 02, 2008 3:28:39	Jotunbred Aasimar monk/factotum maybe? If he's good at martial arts, well, monk 3 to 4 levels and a level of factotum to go with the intelligence. Jotunbred is a feat that says you have giant ancestry in your past, and aasimar are all around good, heroic, calm types as a general rule.
#4 hanniball Jun 12, 2008 15:18:32	While I find killerdungeonmaster's response hilarious, I fully agree with it's concept. Using D&D terminology in everyday life is extremely amusing between my girlfriend and I. Like the other day she comes running up to me like, "Honey! I rolled a nat 20 on my cooking check, you're gonna love this lasagna." I was seriously ROFL. But as far as what type of character you and your husband would be, his martial arts training puts him perfectly in the Monk category, as straw-man suggested. If you want big, half-orc as a race is as big as it gets for core D&D races so I'd go with that (though many men would find it offensive to be called an orc due to the unfortunate stigma of uncouthness). The rest is simply flavor. So I'd say something like, "You rocked that like the Lawful Good Half-Orc Monk you are should!" Average sized, moody, and hold grudges are exactly the qualities of a Dwarf. (You get to decide whether or not dwarven women have beards, it's not official) Your military training makes you a Fighter, unless you consider yourself pious, then go with Paladin. Either way...it makes for an interesting couple!! Jotunbred Aasimar monk/factotum maybe? Unfortunately, Jotunbrud is a Human-only feat :sad:
