It apparently helps if you're willing to basically enslave yourself.

Yeah, it shows the kid is willing to work but something about the way he/she grovels bothers me.

You'd be exasperated too if everyone required 5+ years work experience from a 20-year old preferably still in education (as it reduces hiring costs). Or at least that's how it works around here

Yeah, some requirements can be kinda silly.  Still, no reason to prostrate yourself before a potential employer - especially for an internship - more fervently than you would before your own god. 

EDIT: That's why you need to network, man.  Talk to people and use them.  Someone will probably know of a job somewhere and may be able to help you get it.  Gotta be unlike most D&D players to get it done.  ;)

Yup, it sucks.  And the tougher the economy is, knowing people gets more important.
