#2 zombie_babies Dec 16, 2011 8:12:59	That's environmentally irresponsible and shows a tremendous lack of understanding by the folks that made it.  The exhaust is water, yes, but it's fresh water.  Using these things in the ocean is a bad idea.  One of the main concerns about global warming is the melting ice caps ... because they'll desalinate the oceans and that'll cause all sorts of problems.  These boats?  Global warming in a fancy package.  Shame on the French.  Again.

(ie directly melting the ice caps) It doesn't say how much exhaust comes out. I mean if it's like a cup per several hours of operation, that makes it far less dangerous than just shoving diesel exhaust upwards. (and that's even waaay cleaner than gasoline)
#4 pluisjen Dec 16, 2011 8:30:50	I doubt even a million of these boats could put the slightest dent in the salt levels of the ocean. According to the internet, we're talking 326 million trillion gallons of water. If a million boats would dump a million liters a year each for a million years, we'd drop the salt level in the ocean by less then 0.3% This of course assuming that the engine doesn't just mix the salt back in before it ditches the water, because it's filtered out anyway. Unless they're somehow storing it on board the ship for some weird reason, it's not going to be dumping fresh water.
